Chapter 1259: Chapter 1007: Rescuing the Emperor
```
The enormous Silver Dragon instantly transformed into an adorable young girl and fell into Long Yi’s arms. Long Yi’s entire body pulsated with magic, and a succession of runes flashed behind him, forming four arrays.
"Sail with the Wind! Air Shield! Flame Jet!"
Boom!
Four arrays behind Long Yi erupted with intense flames. The force of the flames created a massive recoil, propelling Long Yi forward at high speed!
This was much faster than flying!
The Flying Dragons behind were utterly dumbfounded. Could this really work? They weren’t just dragons—they could transform into humans!
The Black Dragons, enraged and embarrassed, pursued relentlessly, while the White Dragons in front had already reformed their ranks!
"Dragon Breath, prepare!"
This time, it was Berick who issued the order. The White Dragons, their lungs already filled with Dragon Power, drew a deep breath in unison.
"Jet!"
Boom!
Bright white beams of light once again shot out in unison!
Before the battle began, at the Imperial Palace.
Little Zi had already infiltrated the Imperial Palace. Although it was occupied by the Dragon Clan, the order within was still relatively intact. After all, these dragons were not the fools from the Ancient Mage Tower; their sole purpose for being there was to deal with Long Yi. They had no interest in anything else within the palace, so apart from the Emperor, everyone else was still busily going about their own business, albeit with troubled expressions.
At that time, Little Zi had disguised herself as an attendant of the Emperor. The actual attendant was hiding outside the Imperial Palace, having opened up all his memories to Little Zi to ensure she wouldn’t make any mistakes. Little Zi was busy with the duties of an attendant, and according to her estimation, today was the day she was supposed to take care of the Emperor. As soon as she found the Emperor, she would be able to take him away from there.
However, it was not yet time for her to take over the shift, and she could only bide her time for now.
Around Saint Jialin’s chamber, the number of dragons had increased to twenty, but this was not a problem. The number of dragons patrolling the chamber didn’t matter because if trouble arose, the surrounding dragons would converge instantly.
After a long wait, the person who was supposed to relieve Little Zi arrived.
"It’s your turn, brother." The person came over and briefed Little Zi on the tasks to be handed over. Little Zi noted each one and then headed straight for the chamber. Being the Emperor’s personal guard meant being constantly at the Emperor’s side and waiting for his orders.
Having already received high-end etiquette training and the attendant’s instructions, Little Zi performed flawlessly. The patrolling Dragon Clan members couldn’t tell she was actually disguised.
Just as she was about to enter the chamber, someone quickly approached from behind.
"What is Saint Jialin doing?" The person directly asked Little Zi, and when she turned around, she saw that it was Black Dragon Elder Slite.
"I beg your pardon, my lord, I have just come on duty, and I am not aware of what His Majesty is currently doing. However, according to the attendant before me, His Majesty is reading." Little Zi bowed and spoke submissively.
"I see. Take me to your Emperor, I have some questions for him," Slite said.
"Yes, my lord," responded Little Zi, although internally she was extremely annoyed. She could have easily taken the Emperor away, but Slite’s arrival would likely delay her mission. If this were the Human Realm, Little Zi would not fear a Black Dragon Elder. But this world was not the Human Realm; it was a world with no constraints on the Dragon Clan, and it was better to watch and wait before being certain of the other party’s harmlessness.
Little Zi led Slite back towards the chamber, and quickly found the Emperor reading in the library, the ancient books before him mostly related to dragons.
"Your Majesty," Slite spoke up.
"Elder Slite," acknowledged Saint Jialin as he quickly stood up. It was no joke; these were members of the Dragon Clan! Despite all the legends, when tens of thousands of Black Dragons hovered over your head, who would dare to defy them?
"It seems that Your Majesty is seeking to understand more about our Dragon Clan," Slite commented.
Saint Jialin chuckled awkwardly, "With my neck under your control, even if I am to die, I want to know how I died, don’t I?"
Slite shook his head, "Your life is not in danger because we have no intention of harming you, provided that you do not cause any trouble here."
Saint Jialin was puzzled, "You confine me without explanation, seize my Imperial City, and then say you mean no harm to me. Are you just here for sightseeing?"
Slite looked into Saint Jialin’s eyes and said word by word, "We are here to kill Long Yi."
At that, Saint Jialin felt his heartbeat skip a beat. "Are you from the Ancient Mage Tower?"
"The Ancient Mage Tower? What is that?" Now it was Slite’s turn to be puzzled.
"If you are not from the Ancient Mage Tower’s dragons, why are you after Long Yi?" Saint Jialin was utterly baffled.
"That question..." Slite pondered but didn’t answer directly. Instead, he asked Saint Jialin, "Can you tell me what kind of man Long Yi is, in your eyes?"
Saint Jialin looked blankly at Slite, clearly surprised by the question.
```
"I can’t understand what you mean," Saint Jialin said.
"I simply want to verify through your description what kind of person Long Yi really is," Slite said.
Saint Jialin didn’t know what Slite was truly up to. Ever since he had been imprisoned here, Slite’s first visit was to ask this question?
"Long Yi... How should I describe him? He is a very difficult person to figure out. The way he thinks is far advanced compared to us ordinary people, and of course, his strength is also far beyond ours. He possesses great power, but he seldom wastes it on bullying others. Instead, he prefers to continually challenge stronger opponents," Saint Jialin said.
"What do you think of Long Yi’s character?" Slite asked.
Saint Jialin almost didn’t think before he blurted out, "Almost impeccable."
"I see," Slite nodded and fell into deep thought.
Meanwhile, Saint Jialin watched Slite, wondering what he might be contemplating. After a while, as Slite got up to leave, Saint Jialin suddenly asked, "Mr. Slite, what I want to know is, with ten thousand powerful Giant Dragons willing to cross planes just to kill Long Yi, could this be a continuation of the war from ten thousand years ago?"
Saint Jialin’s question was very technical; his words were really a roundabout way of asking Slite whether Long Yi was a Giant!
As a ruler of a nation, capable of governing The Divine Auffa Empire for many years and ensuring it remained the strongest force on the plane, his wisdom was not to be underestimated. And apart from Giants, what else could have stirred such a group of Giant Dragons?
Slite was taken aback for a moment, he did not turn around, but let out a deep sigh instead and left without saying a word.
Long Yi really was a Giant!
Seeing such a reaction from Slite, Saint Jialin was now entirely certain of his judgment!
Once it was confirmed that Long Yi was a Giant, all of Long Yi’s seemingly irrational behavior now made sense! Saint Jialin felt his heartbeat accelerate! Long Yi was a Giant! A Giant! Considering how Long Yi appeared now, he must be the legendary Pioneer! My goodness, to think that I might receive the assistance of a Giant! No, no, no, it should be said that the Giant chose me! I am the chosen one! I am about to become legendary!
Saint Jialin’s face was flushed with excitement and beaded with sweat.
At this moment, Little Zi, disguised as a guard, observed Saint Jialin’s reaction and knew for certain that he must have discerned the truth. But that was of no consequence; Little Zi judged that the fact Long Yi was a Giant would not affect Saint Jialin’s allegiance—in fact, it might even ensure his firmer stance on Long Yi’s side.
"Your Imperial Majesty," Little Zi, after ensuring no one else was around, approached Saint Jialin and spoke softly.
"Eh? What?" The Emperor, still indulging in self-admiration, suddenly lifted his head.
"You may wish to wait a moment before letting yourself swell with pride. What I have to do first is to get you out of here," Little Zi said.
Upon hearing Little Zi’s words, the Emperor was stunned for a moment, "Who are you?"
"I am Little Zi." Little Zi briefly revealed her true appearance.
"Little Zi!" Saint Jialin was shocked. He hadn’t realized at all that the guard beside him had been replaced with someone else. "About our conversation just now..." Saint Jialin wanted to seek verification from Little Zi.
"Once you leave here, you can ask the master himself if you have any questions," Little Zi said, unsure of Long Yi’s stance on the matter, so it was better to leave the explanation to Long Yi himself.
Saint Jialin nodded and asked no further questions. Little Zi cast a psychic spell, duplicating a portion of Saint Jialin’s memories onto a Female Demon’s avatar, which then took on the disguise of Saint Jialin. As for the Emperor, he was made to look like the guard Little Zi had been impersonating.
"What about you?" asked Saint Jialin, now appearing as a guard.
"You needn’t worry about me; I have my ways of leaving this place. As long as you are safe, my task is complete," Little Zi said, and then she slowly started to fade into thin air.
"Eh? Little Zi..." Saint Jialin noticed Little Zi leaving.
"Don’t talk; I’ve become invisible and am right beside you," Little Zi said.
"Alright then, what now..." Saint Jialin looked at his own appearance, a bit at a loss.
"For now, just honestly play the role you’ve been given," Little Zi said with a smile.
At that moment, various howling sounds came from outside, along with the noise of heavy objects taking flight, indicating that the Dragon Clan had mobilized in full force.
"It’s started," Little Zi said.
Boom!
The main door burst open, and two Black Dragon Elders charged inside. Finding ’Saint Jialin’ still there, they swept their gaze from side to side and commanded the ’guard,’ "Leave this place. From now on, we will take direct charge of him."
At that moment, Saint Jialin, playing the role of the guard, felt his heart might jump out of his chest. Was it really that simple to leave?
"Your Majesty..." Saint Jialin, following the lines that suddenly popped into his head, looked ’troubledly’ at the ’Emperor.’ Then the ’Emperor’ nodded reluctantly and waved his hand, saying, "I trust the great Dragon Clan Elders will not mistreat me. You all go ahead and leave."
The ’guard’ could only bow and then back away. As he passed the two Dragon Clan Elders, he felt so anxious he was nearly suffocating, and his steps were unsteady. The two Black Dragon Elders sneered disdainfully and then closed the door heavily behind Saint Jialin.(To be continued. If you enjoy this work, please visit qidian.com to vote for it.
