Chapter 1204: Chapter 952: The Real Treasure
Isrile and Ruosha were originally here to investigate the truth, and if they had the chance, to completely destroy the Star Devourers in this location would be ideal. But what if that’s not possible? How many of these smaller split-off Star Devourers could there be? Would they all have the chance to grow into terrifyingly large Star Devourers?
Without clarifying all this, neither Isrile nor Ruosha dared to make rash moves. What if, although they succeeded here, there were a pocket of smaller Star Devourers hiding somewhere else? What if the mid-level plane was devoured by the Star Devourers soon after Long Yi led them to the upper mid-plane?
That would be a disgrace! Such a thing must never happen!
The Core Group continued to emit a roaring sound, its pitch growing even higher. The Apostles, casting spells at the same time, produced a similar tone, but unfortunately, it wasn’t a vibration of space.
Time and again, the Core Group emitted differing pitches of spatial tremors, and the Apostles imitated them as best as they could. However, the correct pitch without spatial tremors was an entirely different matter.
Not receiving the correct response, the Core Group’s tone grew deeper. Zuo La sighed secretly, once again was it not to be? What exactly was wrong? Glancing at the older Apostle, disappointment was evident on his face too. The communication with them had been relatively smooth since the first awakening of the Core Group, but they had been stuck on this step for several years now, with no progress whatsoever. The Apostles came close to producing the right sounds, but always failed to elicit a response from the Core. It seemed that this ritual would have to end abruptly once again?
Following the original plan, the Core was set to release a tremendous energy that would completely purify the hearts, bodies, and souls of the two girls, and those who withstood this surge would unconditionally submit to the grandeur of that power, becoming devout followers of the Star Devourers.
But just as the Core Group was about to disperse, Isrile raised her hands high. Ruosha stood in front of Isrile, swinging both hands repeatedly, with countless Runes and formulas appearing and disappearing in Isrile’s hands. A giant formula was slowly taking shape. The surging Mana was even more stirring, continuously infusing into the formula from the hands of the two girls.
Hmm, a faint buzzing sound came through. It was neither loud nor pleasant, but the Core that was about to disintegrate suddenly stopped,. It turned completely towards Isrile and Ruosha.
"The disintegration stopped!?" the older Apostle exclaimed, looking at the scene before him.
"Teacher, this should be the first time it has happened," Zuo La whispered.
"A first time! Don’t make noise! Patiently watch! This might be a message from the Star Devourer Lord!" the older Apostle said.
Isrile and Ruosha didn’t have time to bother with all that, their hands busy with formulas that lengthened, shortened, while the sounds fluctuated. Then, something bizarre happened. The Core Group, that was about to disintegrate, reassembled and started to move rhythmically along with the sounds from the formula.
"I need your energy! All of it! Quick!" Ruosha suddenly shouted at the Apostles.
"Teacher?" the Apostles all looked at the older Apostle.
"Give them Mana!" the older Apostle immediately said. The Core Group had shown new changes, and these must not stop! No matter what those two girls were doing, they had to support them!
All Apostles tried to channel their Mana to Isrile, and in her hands, the formula’s rate of change further accelerated. The formula even got smaller! More formulas and Runes were added, blending together under the influence of Mana, eventually leaving just a very bright line!
"This is just like a beautiful string," mumbled Zuo La.
Ruosha approached and looked at the string, raising a finger to gently pluck it.
Dong!
Concealed Kela Particles erupted, vibrating the space around the string, which matched exactly with the sound emitted by the Core Group!
Hum——
The Core Group suddenly rose high, once again making a similar sound. Ruosha continued to pluck the string. And as Isrile’s hands opened and closed, the string’s pitch varied. Suddenly, Ruosha, coordinating with Isrile, played a piece with the Core Group that was extremely strange in style!
Boom!
The Core Group finally let out a blast, and the two small Star Devourers that had been beside Isrile and Ruosha instantly shattered. Two Cores flew directly from the Core Group, steadily approaching.
Previously, the perceived distance to the Cores seemed vast, so they appeared small, but as they got closer, their immense presence made it difficult for all the Apostles present to breathe. They immediately faced the Cores, lying prostrate on the ground in utter devotion.
And the two huge Cores in front of everyone began to shrink, the pressure consequently dropping. In a blink, they had become as small as those micro Star Devourers. However, what differed was, these were Cores!
When the Cores landed in Isrile and Ruosha’s hands, the far-off giant Core Group also gradually lost its glow, with the energy circulating around it ceasing as well.
The ritual was over.
Isrile and Ruosha held the micro Cores in their hands, with their backs to the Apostles, silent. The Apostles, meanwhile, stood up, their shock lingering in their hearts for a long time.
"Ah! What is this!"
Clang!
With that sound of metal clashing, Ruosha was nervously hiding behind Isrile, and the Core that had been in her hand was now thrown on the ground!
"I don’t know either. When I came to, this thing was already in my hand," Isrile said.
"It looks very peculiar, like a miniature version of that big thing we saw before. Could this be a consolation prize for a failed ritual?" Ruosha said.
"I don’t know, it doesn’t feel very artistic. We better just leave it," and with that, Isrile carelessly threw it, and with a clang, the other Core was also tossed to the ground.
All the Apostles went mad.
What they had in their hands was a Core, a true Star Devourer Core! These weren’t comparable to those miniature Star Devourers they had! Do you have any idea how tremendous the energy contained within these Cores is! Do you know! Do you know!
Zuo La had considered himself to be quite indulgent with the two girls, but just moments ago, he had experienced a sudden surge of rage about to explode within him. However, his reason stopped him in time. He was well aware that the baptism process had remained unchanged for several years, always stalling at this particular point. Yet just now, in front of everyone, the two young girls had managed to create a string using complex equations and runes, along with the mana of all the Apostles, and had communicated with the core!
What did this mean? It meant that these two genius girls might truly bring revolutionary changes to this place! It meant they had taken another step closer to the Star Devourers!
Thinking this, Zuo La took several steps forward and bent down to try to pick up the core. But the cores were as if nailed to the ground, not moving a speck.
"Do you want it? I’ll help you."
Ruosha ’kindly’ ran over, picked up the core, and placed it directly in Zuo La’s hand.
Clang!
As expected, the core fell from Zuo La’s hand, and he felt the muscles in his wrist being strained in an instant. It turned out that only the chosen person could touch this thing!
Knew it wouldn’t be that simple.
"These two are extremely precious Star Devourer cores, the biggest gain from this baptism. Please don’t throw them on the ground, pick them up quickly," Zuo La said with his hands behind his back.
"Precious? A big gain?" Ruosha picked up the two cores and tossed one to Isrile.
"Yes, very precious, a very big gain," Zuo La said, his eyelids twitching as he watched Ruosha’s actions.
"How does it compare to your ball?" Isrile asked.
"A trillion times stronger," Zuo La said.
"Great treasure! We’ll take it!" Isrile decided on the spot.
Zuo La let out a sigh of relief, having known all along that the two children would only refuse it if they thought the item was useless. Now that he had told them it was a valuable treasure, it would be bizarre if they were willing to discard it!
"However, how do we use this thing?" Isrile looked at it from every angle, puzzled.
"Well, we don’t know either, you see, none of us could possess such precious items," Zuo La said.
"That’s probably because you’re not smart enough," Isrile stated as a matter of course.
"Yes, I suppose that’s the case, so could you two explain what just happened?" That was what Zuo La was most concerned about. It was also the concern of every Apostle present.
This question left Ruosha utterly bewildered.
"Actually, we don’t know either," Ruosha said, "Because just now, we briefly lost consciousness. We could feel various inexplicable forces flowing through our bodies, and the knowledge in our heads seemed to be moving around uncontrollably. But it was not until we woke up that we realized we had something extra in our hands."
Zuo La frowned slightly; he had no choice but to believe them, for the girls’ performance had matched their description exactly.
"So, how do you feel now?" Zuo La continued.
"To be honest, we still feel quite comfortable, full of energy," Isrile said.
"Alright, but if you remember anything, please make sure to tell us, okay?" Zuo La was now speaking in a negotiating tone.
"No problem! Rest assured! All for the Star Devourers!" Ruosha shouted excitedly and then immediately froze, "Huh? Why did I say that?"
Not only was Ruosha stunned, but Zuo La was as well. Clearly, they hadn’t brainwashed Ruosha and Isrile, and although they knew about the Star Devourers, they had never shown particular loyalty to them. Yet now, the words for the Star Devourers had inexplicably come out of her mouth, which seemed somewhat unusual.
"Are you dumb?" Isrile touched Ruosha’s head.
"Idiot, you’re the dumb one! Uh, I guess it must have been because I was woken up too early this morning. Let’s go back to sleep," Ruosha said.
"That makes sense!"
And with that, the baptism came to an end. Without the usual congratulations and celebrations, the two girls left. Zuo La watched the departing girls, deep in thought.
"Strange, huh?" an old Apostle came over and asked.
"Yes, Teacher, I do feel it’s strange," Zuo La said.
"On the contrary, I’m not surprised at all. I think this is the manifestation of the great will of the Star Devourers," the old Apostle said.
"Do you mean the cores of the Star Devourers have chosen them, and decided to control them personally?" Zuo La was wide-eyed in astonishment.
"Yes!" The old Apostle’s eyes sparkled with light.
"Does that mean their powers have been acknowledged by the Star Devourers? The long-awaited event is finally starting!" Zuo La’s eyes also began to shine.
"Yes, the true—Apostles, with powers far beyond those of us so-called Apostles, have just been born before our eyes!" (To be continued.
