Chapter 1160: Chapter 910: Deep Behind Enemy Lines

Since the last battle, the Ancient Mage Tower was no longer content to remain hidden behind the scenes; they attempted to step into the limelight. Over the past month, they engaged in battle after battle with the Divine Armor Troops of the two great Empires. Despite having a new Commander, it was clear they were still no match for the Divine Armor Troops. But it was evident that these Semi-Crazy Demons were progressing; with the addition of the Black Crystal Legion, in some local battles, the troops of the Ancient Mage Tower even managed to gain some small advantages.

Of course, this advantage was not significant. But it was enough to satisfy Elma, the master of the Ancient Mage Tower, because even he was well aware of how powerful the troops crafted by Long Yi and Ai Lin were when working together. That was precisely why, whenever he thought about it, he wanted to have Long Yi and Ai Lin under his control; it was clear to him that the vast knowledge they possessed was being wasted just by staying in their heads. Only in his, Elma’s, hands would it truly find its proper place!

At this time, not only was Elma satisfied, but Long Yi was also very pleased because his research into the Semi-Crazy Demons and Crazy Demons was going very well, and the crystal resonance devices placed within the Divine Armor had completed their preliminary tuning. After the initial tuning, Long Yi believed that this device was now ready to be used in actual combat.

But how to fight? The bastards at the Ancient Mage Tower had perfected their pirate-like tactics. In fact, Long Yi knew all too well that Elma had granted Lyd Jon tremendous authority, even to the point where he had full control over when to deploy troops and how to arrange tactics. However, the ultimate goal of this battle was not to take on the Semi-Crazy Demons or the Black Crystal Legion but to take control of Elma himself and seize the key to Long Yi’s plane Teleportation Gate or Landers’ memory. With just one of these items, Long Yi could completely disregard the cost and wreak havoc on bastard Elma.

Since the last time Little Zi had set up the special magic mark within the Ancient Mage Tower, every dimensional jump made by the Ancient Mage Tower within the plane was immediately detected by the accelerator, which could then accurately target the area where the Ancient Mage Tower was located. This greatly facilitated the counteraction against the movements of the Ancient Mage Tower.

Long Yi had planted a number of people around Elma, but none of them had any good way to obtain information about the Teleportation Gate key or Landers’ memories from Elma. Solis once seemed hopeful, but after Elma transformed into a Crazy Demon state, he lost his advantage. And Zulal, close to Ailma, didn’t even know that he had always been serving Long Yi. Crystal Demon warriors lurking among the Crazy Demons continued to pass on information; in fact, if they really were the original Crystal Demon warriors, then just two of them could turn the Ancient Mage Tower upside down. However, as remote avatars who had loaded into another plane, they couldn’t possibly have all their powers; besides, even with all their powers it would be useless.

Long Yi felt this frustration, this displeasure.

When there was nothing else to do, almost the entire team of Long Yi was conducting research near the accelerator; neither Ai Lin nor Little Zi strayed from here. But the device was too big, too complicated; even a slight error was unacceptable, and despite all of Little Zi’s avatars being deployed, the speed could not be increased by much.

Long Yi was busy back and forth but had no good solution.

And the more this was the case, the more frustrated Long Yi became.

Finally, one day, when the accelerator suddenly pointed in a certain direction, Long Yi suddenly curled his lip, "What a hassle! I’ll go meet that old bastard myself!"

With that, Long Yi directly activated the accelerator, and amidst the roaring of mana, he was launched out.

"..." The group of girls at the scene exchanged puzzled glances.

"I just adjusted the power a little bit, there shouldn’t be any problems, right?" Little Zi said nervously.

"No, there wouldn’t be, we would have sensed it through our contract if there were any issues," Ai Lin concluded after some thought.

"That’s true, then let’s continue with our work," Little Zi said with a giggle.

At that moment, the Ancient Mage Tower had just arrived at a desolate planet under Elma’s orders. This place belonged to no one and was most suitable for large-scale military training. This planet was specially prepared by Elma for Lyd Jon. Although finding a suitable planet had taken much time and effort, to confront Long Yi, Elma believed that these minor sacrifices were well worth it.

Lyd Jon led the various commanders to land on the planet, and landing with them were the Semi-Crazy Demons and the Black Crystal Mages. These were the main forces of the Ancient Mage Tower, and training them into great warriors in a short period would be Lyd Jon’s primary task for a considerable time to come.

Once all the forces had landed there, Elma immediately ordered the Ancient Mage Tower to leave the airspace, for he knew all too well that Long Yi always had some strange method of knowing exactly where he would teleport to. Even though he didn’t understand how Long Yi managed it, for the safety of his own troops, it was better to leave quickly.

The Ancient Mage Tower quickly left the area, and almost at the same time, a dazzling beam of light tore through the dark cosmos, visible even to Lyd Jon who had just landed on the planet.

The group of commanders were all astonished, wondering what that beam of light was.

Meanwhile, the Ancient Mage Tower, which had just stopped after completing the space teleportation, saw a ray of light shoot forth from a great distance and strike the Tower without any hinderance.

This beam seemed to lack energy; even though it struck the Ancient Mage Tower, there was no vibration. However, the shield of the Ancient Mage Tower showed no response as if the beam didn’t exist. Yet, in reality, that beam had penetrated through the entire heavy armor on one side of the Ancient Mage Tower!

That beam was the mana conduit of the accelerator, and Long Yi happened to be right in it.

It could be said that Long Yi was extremely lucky. The Ancient Mage Tower had already left the area where Long Yi had detected it when he fired the accelerator. However, the teleportation location of the Ancient Mage Tower was directly in line with the direction from which the accelerator’s magic conduit had been launched. Long Yi was in the process of acceleration, and it just so happened that Little Zi had increased the power of the accelerator slightly. This small increase propelled Long Yi a considerable distance forward, a distance that precisely transported Long Yi inside the Ancient Mage Tower!

When Long Yi recovered from the dizziness of teleportation, he laughed to himself.

This was rather too precise and a bit frightening, wasn’t it?

He was in a deserted area within the Ancient Mage Tower, where Long Yi had originally planned to cause a big scene. However, he soon realized that causing a scene would only result in getting teleported into the sun again. Last time, Xiaodie had devoured two stars and was still digesting them in her private space. If he got teleported again, things would surely escalate dramatically.

But what else could he do?

Long Yi thought for a moment and a person came to mind, Tilian, the Crown Prince of the White Dragon Empire who had borne countless curses.

Initially, Tilian had shouldered all those curses to make the White Dragon Empire the empire above all empires. Hardly anyone even knew what he had actually done until the war had ended.

At this thought, Long Yi suddenly laughed.

At that moment, a young face suddenly burst forth, and when he saw Long Yi, he instinctively wanted to shout. But Long Yi rushed over and covered his mouth, while a mental impact hit him, causing the man to lose consciousness immediately.

"Solis!" Long Yi silently called out to Solis through the bond. Lately, Solis, who had been increasingly marginalized and pushed out of the circle of power, was in a state of confusion. He was extremely uneasy because it had been too long since he’d received instructions from Long Yi, and he even questioned the meaning of his existence. Yes, as a God Chaser, he always needed guidance from the divine.

And just then, a message from Long Yi came through once more!

Solis could feel Long Yi’s presence through the bond.

"Master! My great master! Have you graced us with your presence?" Solis spoke with excitement.

"Yes, I am here, and I need you to do something for me," Long Yi said.

"Ah! Great master, please command me! No matter what it is, I will do it without hesitation for you!" Solis said, filled with excitement.

"Actually, it’s something very simple for you," Long Yi said with a smile.

The only thing Long Yi needed Solis to do was to hide him. Or rather, to hide his true body. Being an Elder, Solis naturally had very high authority, and hiding a person was still quite easy for him. Long Yi hadn’t come here just to play hide and seek; of course, he intended to get involved in the affairs of the Ancient Mage Tower, but through a different identity.

Hayden.

That was the name Long Yi was using now, the same name as the first young man who stumbled upon Long Yi upon his arrival at the Ancient Mage Tower.

Long Yi sealed the young man’s consciousness and loaded his own consciousness into Hayden’s mental world through an embedding process. Embedding consciousness was a specialty of the Crystal Demon, and although Long Yi had learned it from the Crystal Demon Empress Belle, he had never tested how to use it, until now.

Embedding consciousness felt curious; although he knew he wasn’t physically there, he could experience everything as if he were.

Unfortunately, Hayden himself had no particular advantages. His current task was as a member of the patrolling team, a title that made it clear he was to patrol a fixed area every day, reporting any issues discovered for the higher-ups to decide how to handle.

In other words, he was performing a job that almost anyone with a bit of intelligence could do.

If one were to choose a point of entry, this kind of person was definitely most suitable. However, getting noticed by Elma would be a much more difficult task to accomplish.

Long Yi thought for a moment and came up with a masterstroke. (To be continued. If you like this work, please come to qidian.com to vote for it, your support is my greatest motivation. Mobile users please go to m.qidian.com to read.)
