Chapter 1159: Chapter 909 Miracles

Isrile’s disbelief was written all over her face; she did not think this would be any sort of miracle.

"Fine, if it’s not a miracle, we’ll leave immediately. I refuse to believe that his Majesty the Emperor would let two geniuses like us waste our time among these idiots," Ruosha said.

A few Apostles exchanged amused glances, full of confidence. Anyone who had seen what they had within could not possibly want to leave, especially not young girls like Lily and Sasa with little life experience and a passion for research; they simply could not resist the great temptation!

Zemir went to organize the girls’ belongings, while Isrile and Ruosha followed the Apostles out. They traversed the forefront of many buildings, arriving at the very bottom of the massive research institute. There, they found a gigantic magic elevator platform. As they stood upon it, the platform began to descend at an increasing speed, though they felt no change in gravity due to the magic, watching the surrounding rocks rapidly rise.

After about ten minutes, the elevator’s speed slowed and then gradually came to a halt. The Apostles led Isrile and Ruosha forward, and once they passed through a huge metallic door, the scene before the two girls made their eyes widen.

There were experimental labs floating in mid-air, each with a permanently maintained spatial fissure in front of them. Though the destination of these fissures was unknown, the amount of Mana required to maintain so many was undoubtedly astonishing.

Yet, that wasn’t what truly astounded Isrile and Ruosha. Far in the distance, a gigantic solitary eye shimmered with a dim red light!

This single eye nearly filled the entire horizon, and although its true distance was uncertain, even Isrile and Ruosha felt a tinge of unease under the gaze of that eye.

So it turned out that, indeed, a Star Devourer was hidden down here!

"Such a large eye, what is that?" Ruosha asked, hiding behind Isrile and playing the role of a timid but curious little sister.

"That is an ancient creature. We do not know exactly what it is. We only know it possesses incredibly powerful energy. That energy is connected to the fissures, and once we unlock the secrets of the fissures, we will be able to harness this power directly. That is the mission bestowed upon us by our great Emperor," Zuo La confidently lied.

However, Isrile and Ruosha had seen through it all. The primary reason they had come here was to find out whether this place had any connection with the Star Devourers, and now, they were clear on it all. In that instant, the two quickly exchanged thoughts within their contract. They decided to hold off on taking action, to first understand everything about this place—like how many Apostles there were, how far their research had progressed, how long until the Star Devourer could be awakened, and so on. Acting rashly before everything was clear would be extremely dangerous. After all, once the Star Devourer was awakened, things would immediately spiral out of control.

Zuo La, who knew them best, arranged a separate lab for them. Zemir soon moved almost all their equipment and materials, almost untouched, to this new location. The most excited person here was not Isrile or Ruosha but Zemir. He had longed to enter this place for a while, and today could be described as a dream come true. The inside structure of the floating lab was vast and complex. Zemir chose the smallest room for himself, which was sufficient for him. His loyalty to the great Star Devourer was beyond doubt; he didn’t need a lavish room to prove himself. But for Isrile and Ruosha, he prepared a particularly luxurious room, even knowing full well that these girls were not loyal to the great Star Devourer and were even unaware of its existence. Yet he believed that once they truly encountered the Star Devourer, they would be overwhelmed by its greatness and would eventually submit. And these so-called luxuries were merely an early investment.

Then, the Apostles held a modest welcome ceremony for Isrile’s arrival. This wasn’t a special treatment; every person who joined the core group was given such a ceremony, the goal being to introduce them to everyone so that they would not feel too unfamiliar during future collaborative research efforts.

But clearly, the people were not at all friendly towards the two girls who had just joined.

Hostility filled their eyes, nearly without disguise; their looks clearly conveyed an attitude: "You are outsiders, and we don’t like you."

This took Isrile and Ruosha by surprise; they had thought the people here had been brainwashed into idiots who only cared about their research, but it seemed they were actually quite emotional.

"Now, you two introduce yourselves, and I’ll also have them introduce themselves, so we can all collaborate and work together in future research," Zuo La said.

At this moment, standing behind Isrile and Ruosha, Zemir was filled with hesitancy and unease. That’s because the other research group leaders were true masters, with far greater knowledge and status than himself; they looked at Zemir as if he were an ant.

Isrile stepped forward, glanced around at everyone, and began with a smile, "I know you don’t like me. Your faces are full of dislike, even rejection; I can see that and feel it. But I don’t care because you are not any significant figures to me. I have no need to care about what you think. I don’t even need to introduce myself, because I don’t wish my name to occupy your ears or enter your memories. And I have no intention of knowing your names or what you’re researching. I have even less intention of cooperating with you. In my view, you are just a bunch of waste. Especially you few, look at those eyes, tsk, I bet aside from rolling your eyes a few times, you won’t contribute much else. But, since Old Master Zuo La has asked for introductions, just remember this: we are sisters whose strength surpasses yours by ten thousand folds. Even if you practice for ten thousand years, you won’t come close to catching up with us."

Having said that, Isrile turned around and made a victory sign to Ruosha, who immediately began clapping her hands in applause.

And behind them, Zemir was already in agony, covering his face with his hands. Indeed, these two little girls never failed to be a source of worry wherever they went. He peered through the gaps between his fingers at the people in front, who also wore expressions of shock. However, quickly, those shocked expressions turned to anger. Despite not having uttered a single curse word, what Isrile had just said was akin to a slap in the face!

"I thought we had a pair of geniuses on our hands, only to find two idiots who don’t know how high the sky is or how deep the earth is," a leader of a group sneered.

"Exactly, at first I thought they were a pair of cute little girls. Making an exception to guide them wouldn’t be out of the question. Yet, the moment they opened their mouths, they proved themselves to be such arrogant and boastful people, daring to spout such nonsense in our core research institute!"

An old researcher said with a chuckle.

"It’s as if you have achieved some great accomplishments here. Care to share?" Ruosha stepped out and asked loudly.

"Great accomplishments? I’m afraid they might scare you to death!" The old researcher’s face immediately brimmed with confidence. In this core research institute teeming with geniuses, he indeed had several achievements to be proud of. And one of them could indeed be called remarkable. Because he had improved a research method, he had completely changed the entire institute’s research pace, significantly increasing the efficiency of solving many problems. Consequently, he even received power bestowed by the great Star Devourers and had his lifespan vastly extended. Despite his outward appearance resembling that of an elderly man, in terms of both physicality and spirit, he was equal to the young.

"Enough, then don’t mention it. I’m afraid you’ll make me die of laughter," Isrile followed up, pulling Ruosha, who had just interjected, behind her.

"You!" Actually, the old researcher did indeed want to reveal his achievements to intimidate these ignorant kids, but his words were choked off by the retort!

When you’ve been told not to talk, yet you insist on talking, isn’t that just making a fool of yourself?

He was quite reputable here; even the Apostles would respectfully address him as Master in his presence. Yet these two brats, who emerged from who-knows-where, dared to talk back to him like this!

"Fine, fine, fine! You’re really something!" The old researcher was so angered he couldn’t find the words, managing only to utter a string of ’fine’.

"Thank you, we indeed are quite something. But it would be even better if we didn’t have to see you lot; talking to you is truly a waste of time," Isrile said.

"Hmph!"

The old researcher snorted coldly and turned to leave, and the others around him followed suit, at least their gaze toward the girls was now filled with undisguised malice.

"This has really left a terrible first impression," Zemir said helplessly.

"I don’t care what impression we leave on them, our research isn’t for them anyway," Isrile said.

Zemir looked helplessly at Zuo La, then at the six Apostles beside him, who gave no response. Zuo La, however, nodded with a smile, signaling that Zemir could leave. Zemir immediately led Isrile and Ruosha away from the place.

"So, my brothers, what do you make of this matter?" Zuo La asked the six Apostles.

"These two kids are powerful, yet arrogant. Let’s wait and see what they can achieve. If their strength matches their arrogance, then why not let them remain arrogant?" one Apostle said.

"In that case, I will immediately start assigning them research tasks," Zuo La said.

"Yes, please do so. If they can demonstrate their worth, I think we could even ’baptize’ them, making them one of us. Anyone confronted with the miracles created by the great Star Devourers will involuntarily surrender. This way, they can serve our great lord even better!"
