Chapter 1028: Chapter 781: Is That All?
"Everything has ended, and we thank you for your help. There is nothing left on this planet for us to cling to, and we are about to return to the void. However, before we leave, I would like to express our gratitude for everything you have done." The armor spoke as it raised its hand and pointed towards a not-so-large building in the distance.
"That is our treasure vault, I have lifted the restrictions there, and everything inside now belongs to you."
No sooner had the words been spoken than two people rushed out, and after a moment’s hesitation, many more followed suit. They had come here on an exploratory venture, taking their chances. And now, with talk of treasure, who wouldn’t be excited?
Long Yi, however, was not in a hurry and casually strolled at the back with Ai Lin and the others.
Having already obtained the Divine Status, Long Yi felt there was nothing more thrilling than this. The Divine Power inside him was growing, albeit slowly, it was still increasing.
Wait, the so-called Divine Status is the qualification to become a god. Now that I have the qualification, could it be that I will become a god? But somehow, the idea of becoming a god doesn’t seem all that fun.
Upon arriving at the treasure vault, they found its doors already open, and from inside there was occasional arguing and even the sounds of scuffles.
Long Yi and company entered to find that the items that obviously looked worthless had been discarded, while those with energy fluctuations or fragments of Cosmic Stones were being continuously taken.
"How come it feels like they’re the heroes," Little Zi grumbled with a pout.
"Of course, they are heroes, at least they helped to delay the action on the ground," Long Yi replied.
Long Yi was quite open-minded; there weren’t many valuable items around, most of which were neither here nor there.
As a once-thriving race, the items here were proof they had indeed been glorious. Unfortunately, that glory had ended abruptly without explanation.
Long Yi continued to search as people began leaving one after another. The treasure vault was small, and there wasn’t much inside to begin with. Many had stuffed their findings into their personal spaces at the first opportunity, leaving the rest, which were mostly worthless at a glance.
By the time almost everyone had left, Long Yi hadn’t even finished half of the vault. He was looking carefully, taking time to study the use of certain items before making a decision.
And when everyone had left, he had just completed three-quarters of the vault.
At that moment, the vault’s doors suddenly slammed shut with a great force.
Following that, Long Yi felt the space around him seemed to be sealed off.
Then, with cold laughter, two individuals appeared before Long Yi and his group.
It was the two Guardians of the Ancient Mage Tower tasked with dealing with Long Yi and his companions.
"Unexpectedly, you are so greedy that you wouldn’t even let go of this last bit of junk," one of the Guardians of the Ancient Mage Tower remarked.
"Can’t help it, poor ground-dwellers, probably have never seen real treasures, have you?" added the other Guardian.
"Finally, you’ve decided to show up. We’ve delayed for such a long time, watching you set up Space Barriers around the vault and hiding in that corner waiting for everyone to leave that we almost fell asleep," Long Yi said.
Hearing Long Yi’s words, the Guardians’ smiles faltered because what Long Yi mentioned was exactly what they had been doing.
"Knowing what we are doing, yet you didn’t leave. You must be quite confident in your own strength," one Guardian proclaimed loudly.
"Of course, we’re confident. If we weren’t confident about dealing with fools like you, we’d be a laughingstock," Long Yi retorted.
Seeing Long Yi’s demeanor, the two Guardians of the Ancient Mage Tower exchanged glances, both seeing caution in the other’s eyes.
"Let’s back off, don’t take risks," one Guardian whispered.
"Alright!"
Suddenly, the two Guardians headed in the same direction, only to be met with two thuds as they smacked straight into the Space Barrier.
"The moment you finished setting up the Space Barrier, I ’accidentally’ adjusted the structure of your magic. You definitely can’t get through," Little Zi said with a giggle.
The Guardians instantly tensed up. The trap they had set for Long Yi now seemed like the grave they had dug for themselves.
"Here’s the deal, surrender and lose half. Tell me everything about Solis, and I promise I’ll only beat you half to death, how about that?" Long Yi generously offered.
"Knowing we are sent by Master Solis, you still dare to be so arrogant? Do you really think that Elma, who no longer has any power, can protect you?" one Guardian said.
"Look at that, you know you’re not our match yet you’re still so pompous. Do you really think throwing out a name is going to scare us off?" Long Yi practically mirrored the opponent’s words back at them.
In truth, both Guardians were also nervous. No one knew the true extent of Long Yi and the girls’ combat abilities, but so far, they had never lost a battle. Despite their inherent psychological advantage over surface dwellers like Long Yi as residents of the Ancient Mage Tower, that psychological advantage did not translate into strength.
"No choice then, let’s use our last resort," one murmured.
"Damn it, if possible, I really wouldn’t want to use this move in my lifetime!" the other suddenly roared.
The two simultaneously let out a roar as spectacular Runes emerged all over their bodies. Then, the bodies of both men began to blur, and, astonishingly, they started to fuse together in the haze!
"Holy crap! The two men are merging!" Long Yi’s eyes bulged in an instant.
"Look away! Children, don’t watch!" Long Yi immediately covered Little Zi’s and Xiaodie’s eyes.
"I’m over a thousand years old! I’m an adult now!" Little Zi pulled Long Yi’s hand away.
"I’m over a hundred million years old, I’m an adult too!" Xiaodie also pulled Long Yi’s hand away.
"Brother Long, you’re getting goosebumps," Silver Light said, pointing at Long Yi’s arm.
"Straight man," Ai Lin said with a curled lip.
"I can’t take it! I’m going to kill them!"
The Cosmic Stone Greatsword, carrying a wave of destruction and an unprecedented fighting aura, swung out, but it was blocked by an arm.
Seeing that his opponent had no weapon, Long Yi also put away his greatsword. His fist, wrapped in a wave of destruction, slammed heavily against the opponent’s fist upon collision.
Both parties retreated half a step simultaneously.
Long Yi was slightly surprised; after fusing, the opponent was just two mages. Yet they could withstand his punch; clearly, this fusion magic had its unique aspects.
"Heh, is that all you got?" the Guardian sneered.
"Eh? Just one punch and you’re already taunting? Isn’t it a bit early for that?" Long Yi replied as his second punch was already on its way. The opponent met it with another punch, and it was evident that there was magic being brewed over that fist!
"A Magic Fighter? Good!" Long Yi roared, as he also conjured a magic spell in his fist.
An explosion boomed, and the colliding magics couldn’t be discerned from the original spells, but Long Yi and the Guardian were both blown away. The moment Long Yi landed, he surged toward the Guardian at a rapid pace, while the Guardian cast a mana shield. Another boom resounded, the shield was shattered, and the Guardian was slammed into the Space Barrier.
"Interesting!"
Long Yi shook his shoulder; the recent charge had left it a bit sore. Glancing at the Guardian, who was shaking his head, it seemed the collision had dazed him.
In fact, the Guardian himself knew it was more than just dizziness—he was in excruciating pain all over. Long Yi’s charge felt as though it had disassembled his body, and he never imagined he would be pushed to this extent!
"Thunderbolt Technique!"
With no warning, the Guardian caught Long Yi off guard and struck.
"Traction Technique!"
Along with the thunderbolt, a pulling force drew Long Yi into the air.
"Dazzling Light Impact!"
Buzz!
A blinding light shot from the Guardian in front of Long Yi; the brightness was so intense that Long Yi felt as if his whole body was set aflame by the light!
"Traction Technique!"
Suddenly, with a roar, while Dazzling Light Impact hadn’t ended, the Guardian was pulled toward Long Yi, hanging in the air, and under the effect of the Traction Technique, Long Yi rapidly flew toward the Guardian.
"Dazzling Light Impact, super close range version!"
A large hand pressed against the Guardian’s chest.
The light burst straight through the Guardian’s chest, spraying out from the backside.
"Mana Eruption!"
Boom!
The burst of mana forcibly separated them, and both landed. Red light radiated from Long Yi, as if his body were a red-hot iron block. Meanwhile, the Guardian’s chest had a large hole burned through it.
But the next moment, the hole slowly healed.
"If that was your strongest attack, then I can tell you, you’re as good as dead," the Guardian said.
"Just playing around, why so serious?" Long Yi shrugged.
"You all might as well attack together, or else, you’re all doomed!" the Ancient Mage Tower Guardian sneered.
"Since that’s the case," Ai Lin smiled.
"Everybody, let’s attack together!" Silver Light yelled.
"Sisters, come and see the man merge!" Little Zi called out cheerily as thirteen Female Demon Avatars flew out.
Xiaodie also joined in: "Can someone tell me why you’re all so happy?"
The Ancient Mage Tower Guardian’s intention wasn’t like that; from what they knew about Long Yi before, he was a typical male chauvinist who generally wouldn’t allow girls to follow him in battle.
Especially when provoked, the more the opposition taunted, the more Long Yi would want to go head-to-head with them.
That’s precisely why they decided to tell them to attack together because, by Long Yi’s character, he would certainly rush forward himself. In a one-on-one situation, the merged Guardian’s power was immense, and he could definitely defeat Long Yi in a short time. Particularly after a few exchanges just now, he felt that Long Yi was not as strong as he had thought.
But!
This time they miscalculated, as Long Yi surprisingly didn’t say anything! (To be continued. If you enjoy this novel, please come to Qidian (qidian.com) to vote for recommendation tickets and monthly tickets. Your support is my greatest motivation. Mobile users, please read on m.qidian.com.)
