Chapter 531: Chapter 530: a little revenge isn’t bad

Bam!

Bam!

Splurt...

"Protect me..."

"Yeah, right," Keith thought of the past as he spat out blood. His lips were bruised, his face was covered in cuts, and blood flowed from his wounds.

"Oh... will you call your mama?"

"Witch, isn’t she? Come on, tell her to wake up from the dead and save you," a young male voice said as two others burst into laughter.

At the moment, Keith was on the ground, his vision blurry as he felt pain all over his body.

Around him were three kids the same age as him.

They were his bullies.

Actually, not only them.

The whole town bullied him.

Shortly after Father Yen took him in, he died two years later, reinforcing Keith’s title as the Witch’s Son so much that the hatred had turned into something even worse.

He was cast aside and became someone who survived on scraps of food.

He was also beaten by the kids every day while the adults watched.

Keith had become nothing more than entertainment to them.

Could Keith call it luck or misfortune?

Even though he was beaten almost to death, seeing him beg and crawl sometimes made the adults throw him a little food.

Though it was next to nothing, and usually the worst food imaginable, it kept him alive until now.

He was thin and weak, but his eyes...

They carried a rage that a child like him should never have.

It had been seven years since then, and Keith was now twelve years old.

He had endured five years of bullying and struggled every day just to survive.

He couldn’t die.

Not before he avenged his parents and burned this town to the very ground.

"Come on, is that all, Witch’s Son?" the leader of the group asked with a smile as the others chuckled.

On the ground, Keith spat out another mouthful of blood as dizziness overwhelmed him.

"Come on, Keith... stand up and fight!"

"Did your mother die for nothing? Man, she couldn’t even give birth to a capable son."

The leader taunted him.

"Yeah. I’d be ashamed to have you as a son, you pig. No wonder both of them died," another boy said as Keith gritted his teeth.

He knew what they were doing.

And he could already see how this would end.

But...

Keith slowly dragged himself to his feet as his body swayed.

Seeing this, the bullies wore ecstatic expressions, wide grins spreading across their faces.

This was exactly what they wanted.

They wanted him to stand up and fight.

Keith clenched his fists as he took a fighting stance.

But that only made the bullies laugh even harder.

His posture was awkward, and with his thin body, who could possibly take him seriously?

With his blurry vision, his eyes seemed to see flames as his body trembled.

A chill ran from his head to his toes as vivid memories of the past surfaced.

Keith gritted his teeth.

Then he moved.

His feet pushed against the ground, stunning the bullies for a brief moment.

For that instant...

Goosebumps covered their bodies as they watched Keith charge toward them.

But...

The very next second...

Keith blacked out.

---

The sun was high in the sky when Keith woke up.

His whole body ached, but he still forced himself to move.

By this point, his body was already covered in dried blood, yet Keith didn’t care.

Even as his body swayed from side to side, he continued walking.

"Isn’t that the Witch’s Son?"

"Oh yes, it is. Do you want to play with him?"

"No. I wouldn’t even give him the dogs’ food."

The adults laughed as Keith walked out of the town.

He didn’t know why they called him the Witch’s Son or where all the hatred came from.

But regardless...

At this moment, whatever their reason was...

He didn’t need to hear it.

All he wanted...

Was to kill every single one of them.

Outside the town, the terrain was rugged, filled with hills and valleys, along with a thick, dense forest.

One could easily get lost.

The creatures living there were filled with predators and prey alike.

No one would want to come here, especially someone thin, weak, and covered in blood.

Yet Keith walked into it.

Not because he wanted to die...

But because...

Reaching an open clearing atop a hill more than two kilometers away, Keith tried to keep his body as straight as possible.

He forced a smile as he walked toward the three large gravestones before him.

Kneeling down, he spoke.

"Greetings, Mom... Dad."

"Right... Father Yen. How could I forget you?"

"I’ve been growing well. Look at me. I’m big and strong."

"Mom, I’m eating well."

"Dad, I’ll become even stronger than you."

Keith continued talking to them as though they were standing right there beside him.

He had taken his parents’ ashes to this place and buried them here since the people of the town wouldn’t allow him to use their graveyard.

As for Father Yen...

Because he took Keith in, things only became worse for him.

No one visited his herb shop anymore.

He was eventually forced to close it, and in the end, age caught up with him.

After all...

He was still only a mortal.

Like his parents, Father Yen, despite all the good he had done, was not allowed to be buried in the town.

So, at seven years old, Keith carried the old man’s corpse, which was bigger than him, and dragged it all the way here.

He dug the ground with his bare fingers and buried him.

Then he spent close to a week moving these huge rocks here. He fainted many times during the process and even killed a small cat-like creature, eating it raw just to survive.

That was what it took Keith to build this place.

He did it so the ground would remain clean and wouldn’t be overtaken by the forest and tall grass.

Today, as always, Keith talked to them until the sun began to set.

Only then did he stand up to return.

After all, maybe this forest was safe during the day.

But at night...

It was as though every beast awakened.

His one-week stay here had taught him a lot.

Nowhere was safe when night fell.

Everything was trying to kill you.

Walking out of the forest, Keith began his journey back to the town.

But what he saw made him freeze in shock.

In the distance, a long trail of smoke rose into the sky.

The town he had lived in all his life was engulfed in flames.

Keith’s heart skipped a beat as he rushed toward the town, falling many times along the way.

By the time he arrived, his eyes widened in horror.

The people of the town were being slaughtered.

The children and young women were tied up by a group of scrawny-looking men.

They wore steel-plated armor and wielded drawn swords as they killed one adult after another while setting the houses on fire.

Only one name came to Keith’s mind.

Slave traders.

They looted towns, killed the adults, and took the young women and children as slaves to sell.

Yet, as he watched the children cry, the women plead, and their fathers, mothers, and relatives die one after another...

Keith felt a strange sense of comfort.

A smile slowly appeared on his face.

But then...

Thud!

Keith lost consciousness as a slave trader struck him on the neck from behind.

His body collapsed onto the ground.
