Chapter 65: Primordial Fangs

"You have one mission that must be completed within one year at most... if you wish to become an official member of the Primordial Fangs."

The golden man took a few steps forward, then lightly leaped into the air and flew toward the golden palace.

Yet, something strange happened as he moved.

Or rather...

Something strange had been there from the very moment the golden man and the young man appeared.

Unlike every other bustling area, where countless people were constantly moving...

...this place was completely silent.

An eerie, unsettling silence.

It wasn’t because there was no one around them.

In fact, there were thousands of people.

But every single one of them stood frozen in place, staring at the pair with trembling eyes filled with fear.

"Tsk... faggot."

The young man grumbled and spat beside him before flapping his massive wings and taking to the air.

In an instant, he caught up with the golden man.

Only after the two of them had finally disappeared did movement gradually return to the area.

"Those two just now... were they really from the Primordial Fangs organization?"

One person in the crowd struggled to catch his breath as he stared at the silhouettes disappearing into the horizon.

"They’re definitely from the Primordial Fangs. In fact, one of them is a full member, while the other is merely a candidate."

Another man beside him spoke, a violent shiver running through his entire body the moment he mentioned the true member.

People weren’t shocked by the golden color of the man’s soul, nor by the Golden Assistants the two possessed.

What truly shocked them...

...was that they belonged to the organization known as the Primordial Fangs.

"How can you tell which one is a real member and which one isn’t?"

The first man’s body trembled even harder.

The mere thought that he had been standing beside a member of the Primordial Fangs without being killed on the spot made his scalp go numb.

"Of course I can tell! Didn’t you notice the fang emblem on their chests?"

The man hissed at his friend in a low voice, afraid someone might overhear.

"That winged young man’s jaw emblem had four pairs of fangs on each side, which means he’s still only a candidate."

"But that golden man with the refined face..."

His body trembled once again, yet he gritted his teeth and continued,

"The jaw emblem on his chest had six pairs of fangs on each side..."

"That means he’s a true member of the Primordial Fangs!"

The man paused for several seconds, making sure his words had fully sunk into his companions’ minds before continuing.

"And he’s not just any ordinary member."

"His golden color, which signifies that he’s an Immortal Soul, those spider-leg-like appendages behind his back, and that young man’s remark about him being a Soul-Devouring Spider..."

"All of it points to only one person..."

He stopped once more, this time to calm himself.

Only after steadying his breathing did he utter a single name.

"Zephyr..."

The moment that name was spoken, the entire group shuddered involuntarily.

Their heartbeats accelerated several times over as memories surfaced of an ancient abomination who had once spread terror throughout one of the Fifteen Regions.

One of the people in the group happened to come from the very region where Zephyr had unleashed that nightmare long ago.

He had grown up hearing countless legends about him.

By now, Zephyr had become one of the most famous monsters parents used to frighten children.

The man’s finger trembled as he pointed toward the direction where Zephyr had disappeared.

His voice shook even more than before.

"Y-You mean..."

"That refined-looking man is... the Black Reaper, Zephyr?"

ــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــ

Inside the Eternal Night Heaven Palace, Zephyr and the young man accompanying him appeared in the reception hall.

Ignoring everyone else, they walked straight through the golden gate.

The moment they entered, the surroundings transformed—just as they had when Rios first came here.

However, unlike Rios, who had found himself beside a crystal-clear blue lake...

...this place was a vast green meadow covered in colorful flowers.

Floating only about two meters above the ground were countless tiny patches of clouds, each barely the size of a palm or only slightly larger.

There weren’t enough of them to clutter the scenery...

Only enough to create a breathtaking view.

Perched upon and circling around those clouds were countless magnificent birds.

Light gathered at the center of the meadow.

A desk gradually materialized.

Behind it sat a young man with blue hair and blue eyes.

He looked at Zephyr calmly before offering a gentle smile.

"Welcome, Lord Zephyr."

"Please, have a seat first. Feel free to request whatever you need."

He waved his hand.

Two chairs appeared before the desk, and he gestured for Zephyr and the young man to sit.

Without saying a word, Zephyr smiled as usual, walked over calmly, and sat down.

The young man silently followed and took the other seat.

"Hello, Lam. How have you been?"

Zephyr looked at the blue-haired young man with a gentle smile before gesturing toward the young man beside him.

"I want him to participate in the Coliseum, so I’d appreciate it if you could finish the procedures quickly."

"Don’t worry, Lord Zephyr."

"I’ll have everything done within a minute."

Lam smiled before glancing at the young man for a second, then looked back at Zephyr.

"If you don’t mind me asking... is he one of your new candidates?"

"Yes."

"He’s our newest candidate."

"Those damned old bastards assigned me to supervise him."

Zephyr spoke with obvious annoyance at the mere thought of supervising a new candidate.

He leaned back in his chair, rested his head against it, and stared absentmindedly at the clouds and birds overhead, paying no attention to anyone else.

"Hahahaha... It seems you really hate supervising candidates."

"I still remember that you devoured the last candidate they assigned to you."

Lam laughed sincerely before glancing sideways at the young man.

"But since they personally assigned you to oversee him..."

"That means he’s someone special."

"He was an annoying candidate."

"Why would I enjoy something as troublesome as babysitting a little brat?"

"I’d rather go devour the inhabitants of some planet than do something like that."
