Chapter 667: Chapter 653: If There Must Be War, Then So Be It!
Chen Feng suddenly opened his eyes, which startled Mata, the princess among half-elves. She seemed to sense something and opened her eyes at the first moment, looking questioningly at the man beside her.
"It’s nothing, it’s still early, go back to sleep."
Chen Feng patted her fragrant shoulder, indicating that she needn’t be alarmed. He got out of bed, wearing just a robe, and walked outside.
Mata watched the figure in front of her. Even though his body was not particularly robust, his strength had reached an incredibly terrifying height.
Compared to the drow elves, who naturally possess a forbidden beauty, half-elves are quite conservative about their partners. Female elves often fulfill their duties as wives for life once they choose a partner. A true king of order, someone with the ability to absorb faith, Mata knew that he wouldn’t care for her alone, yet she couldn’t help but put her soul on him.
[Men also have their own little thoughts, and when they don’t want to reveal them, what they need more than questioning is a hug or a quiet environment to be alone.]
This is advice passed from the elders.
Mata did not chase after Chen Feng to ask what happened. In her view, he had enough strength to handle any situation.
Turning over, Mata only felt some soreness in her waist, seemingly remembering something, and a blush suddenly rose on her face, then she burrowed into the blankets, not showing her face for a long while.
Whoosh!
A gust of howling northern wind blew away Chen Feng’s sleepiness; he had just had a dream.
In fact, it could not be called a real dream, but more of a soul-crushing pressure. An elderly Beastman stood on the ground, amidst a field of bones, the metal-forged staff in his hand still stained with flesh. Beneath him was a fierce demon wolf with tusks.
Dire wolf.
In most cases, six to eleven dire wolves would form a pack, living and hunting together. Sometimes, one might see a solitary dire wolf or a pair of mates.
Their favorite prey includes large herbivores. They usually follow and kill the young, the sick, and the weak, but when prey is scarce, they will not hesitate to attack humanoid creatures.
Dire wolves sometimes ally with other evil-aligned races, the most common being goblins and Half-Beastmen. Dire wolves serve as their mounts and guardians.
Ordinary dire wolves resemble and are the same size as regular wolves. Adult dire wolves stand about 3 feet (0.9 meters) at the shoulder, measure approximately 5 feet (1.5 meters) in length, and weigh an average of 500 pounds (226.79 kilograms). Their coats are usually gray or black.
But the dire wolf beneath the elderly Beastman in the dream was over 2.5 meters tall at the shoulder and about 5 meters long. Undoubtedly, this was a mutated extraordinary creature!
Just then, it was the gaze of the other party locking onto him. Them having the appearance of a caster, yet wearing the armor typical of a warrior, despite the disjointed attire did not make this being seem trivial, rather, it exuded a strange intimidation to strangers.
The surroundings were dead silent.
Chen Feng uttered two words thoughtfully: "Beastman!"
Never underestimate any legendary power. Chen Feng was already beyond ordinary, sensing someone was spying on him.
In his mind, the image of the elderly Beastman was undoubtedly the observer that caught Chen Feng’s attention.
Given previous intelligence from the Dark Department, a powerful being spying in such an eerie manner during a silent night certainly was an invader from the city of flowers.
An alliance primarily of Beastman, supplemented by other monsters.
Not just simple Beastman; amidst the chaotic slaughter, other monster figures also lurked.
The Dark Department members, having previously faced Naraku, did not foolishly land to inspect again. Instead, they used more cautious means to observe from the shore. When Chen Feng saw the forwarded images, his expression became somewhat grave.
Beast Race infantry, Dragon Riders, Giant Hunters, even the silhouettes of Wolf Riders—close combat, ranged, cavalry—it was practically a perfect assault phalanx.
Furthermore, based on Chen Feng’s understanding of Beastman, this species with beastly rugged appearances and cruel nature, also had some hidden trump cards.
Very likely, some Kodo Beasts were hidden among them!
In this world, only one creature possesses the strength and endurance to carry Tauren into battle—this mighty creature is the Kodo Beast.
Kodo Beast mounts are swifter than their wild counterparts and slightly smaller in size, but in vitality and courage, they are in no way inferior, greatly benefiting the Tauren who ride them.
It is said only the most noble-minded Tauren can earn a Kodo Beast’s trust, using it as a mount, for these powerful beasts only serve Tauren who possess a heart of honor and respect.
Even a single Tauren was terrifying enough, but with Kodo Beasts as auxiliaries, a team of ten cavalry could easily smash through a phalanx of a hundred dwarves!
If not for their limited numbers, the strongest cavalry of the Beast Race would not be the Wolf Riders; the quick and agile raiders are merely the second phalanx.
Chen Feng vividly remembered that Beastman’s gaze, with myriad wisdom in his cloudy eyes. In fact, except for demons, known for their chaos, age didn’t enhance their wisdom. For other beings, even for a goblin reaching a hundred years, never ignore them lightly. One cannot tell how much of the test of time is harbored within that aged existence.
An elderly Beastman with an extraordinary dire wolf as a mount, who wore battle armor.
Though awkward, Chen Feng concluded the other’s image in his mind.
Was he here to declare war over those Beastman who died by his hand?
Nighttime spying.
This was a very impolite behavior.
Imagine you are sleeping at home, but suddenly your neighbor uses an awl to pierce a hole and spies on you in the dead of night—it’s unmistakably a provocation!
Even if tens of thousands of Beastman became sacrificial offerings to Rose for some reason, it didn’t bring any guilt to Chen Feng’s heart.
For, in a certain sense, Chen Feng was the Guardian of this land, while the Beastman were bandits intruding from the wilderness. They occupied humanity’s land and enslaved humans; killing them, though cruel, was a benevolent act benefitting the people.
Flames of light kindled in Chen Feng’s eyes.
As a newly ascended legendary entity, he would not choose to ignore such a provocation—it pertained to the dignity of the strong!
Some might say that to retreat would lead to boundless horizons, as the opponent was not just a minion but backed by an entire Beastman army.
However, in the current environment, though Chen Feng seemingly controlled everything, standing at a height, behind was an abyss. Stepping back, boundless horizons might not come, but being dashed to pieces was certain.
The flames boiled in Chen Feng’s eyes.
As a leader of Order, he made his stance clear on the matter.
"If battle, then battle!"
