Chapter 666: Chapter 652: Shaman Priest
The traditional impression of Beastmen is that they are irritable and savage. They tend to act before thinking, for example, after invading a city, the first thing that comes to their minds is always slaughter and conquest. Only after enjoying everything will their limited brains ponder how to secure a foothold on this land.
Without wisdom, even with immense strength, a Beastman is merely a brute. In such circumstances, the existence representing wisdom is born.
On the opulent tall building, an aged Beastman is calmly overlooking the newly conquered kingdom.
Prophet.
They are the ancient Beast Race that embodies the strongest power of Shamanism. Their wisdom rivals that of the Human Race. These powerful Shaman Priests often participate in formulating the strategy of Beast Race tribes.
Prophets are not only adept at harnessing the power of land and sky, but they also possess the ability to foresee the future. Their wisdom only manifests through their courage and brutality in battle. When enemies approach, Prophets ride their loyal wolf mounts into the battlefield, using their innate shaman powers to summon various elements into battle.
Kes is already old. As a Beastman who has lived for over a century, he has witnessed the rise and fall of his people. Chased by the Dwarves into the frost-laden mountains, the group of hundreds of thousands dwindled to just thirty thousand survivors. At that moment, Kes, then in his prime, succeeded the will of the previous Chieftain, becoming the tribe’s sole voice.
Compared to the previous Chieftain, Kes changed many of the tribe’s rules.
Minotaur Chieftain
Kes’s memory returns to a few decades ago. He vaguely remembers the Chieftain being a noble and pure Minotaur, bearing the scent of a beast. It proudly carried the tribe’s totem on its back, maintaining the pride and purity of Minotaur culture. When the powerful Minotaur Chieftain was called to battle, it would wield its mighty halberd, facing whatever enemy it encountered head-on!
Courage without strategy, perhaps this is the best explanation.
The war, initially concerning the fate of their people, was just between Dwarves and Beastmen. However, at some point, Elves also joined the war. Under the combined assault, the tribe was driven into freezing lands, and the Chieftain, severely wounded, passed away soon after, leaving a group of homeless tribespeople and a huge mess.
Kes was practically given a mission at a critical juncture. When he first became the tribe’s Shaman, it was the most difficult period for the tribe. To adapt to the environment, he changed many of the previous cumbersome habits, embarking on a path of unprecedented reform.
In ten years, he solidified the tribe’s footing in the snowy land. Though their population was still small, it slowly progressed, expanding to fifty thousand.
In another twenty years, through some fortuitous circumstances, Kes established contact with Demons. To regain everything he had lost, he did not hesitate to sign a pact with the Demons.
Another ten years later, when the tribe’s population reached eighty thousand, Kes led the young and middle-aged, along with the nearly elder first warriors, back onto foreign lands.
It was a blatant massacre.
As the evil side, the appearance of Beastmen caused an uproar. Dwarves and Elves tried to ally again, but when they mustered their forces to confront the Beastmen, Kes presented the pre-signed pact, summoning the Demon Legion.
A Demon Lord appeared in person, along with hundreds of thousands of Demon Legions. The Dwarves and Elves suffered devastating losses; nearly forty percent of their warriors forever rested on that land, which resembled a slaughterhouse!
Kes clearly remembers.
Heavy booms echoed across the battlefield.
Accompanied by the desolate sound of horns, Beastmen surged forward like a tide. In cooperation with Demons, the land transformed into a bloody meat grinder. The primal and wild assaults cut off the enemy’s supplies time and again. Marauders weaved through the Dwarf and Elf coalition with incredibly agile speed, constantly seeking the perfect opportunity to strike!
Beastmen!
With a hundredfold slaughter, they successfully exacted revenge, and it was at that moment that Kes became the tribe’s undisputed savior.
Of course, Kes was not entirely victorious. The pact with the Demons included many unequal terms, one of which was accepting the Demon’s bloodline, transforming into a half-Beast, half-Demon state.
In such an environment, his features and shaman powers were twisted by the deal with the Demons, making him appear like a Beastman clad in cumbersome, crude black armor, with his face full of scorch marks and a sole eye in his left eye socket.
Time etched many marks on his face, from leading a mere thirty-thousand-strong tribe to become the sole voice among them, earning the title of [Radiant] and at one point occupying the forest, growing the tribe to around six hundred thousand. Kes, using a lifetime, completed this seemingly impossible path to rise!
Even though the tribe Kes ruled had become practically invincible in the surrounding areas, he often thought back to that winter.
In that cold, snow-covered season, with his chest bare, he tightly gripped the battle spear facing the coalition threatening the tribe’s survival.
Kes was just a Priest whose original role was to stand back like an archer, casting auras and casting some magic for his tribe. Unfortunately, most of the warriors were dead or injured. Under such dire straits, even the Priests donned leather armor and stepped into the battlefield, engaging the enemy in brutal combat.
It was at that moment that Kes never removed his leather armor again. Even though he no longer needed to lead from the front, the blood-soaked leather armor acted like a whip, often lashing at him, reminding him of all the tribulations the tribe had endured.
The tribe should not stagnate, and precisely because of this, upon learning about the rift, Kes organized this invasion.
Flower City has fallen, and now this land belongs to the brutal invaders from another realm.
Beastmen!
Kes found a land for his tribe tenfold richer than before, yet he did not show the joy of a victor like other Beastmen, choosing instead to be alone on the rooftop.
The elderly body could not hide its power and wisdom. Kes gazed into the distance, his sight seemingly piercing through the sky and darkness, seeing Beastmen like himself fall at the hands of Humans.
A similar scene, only the victims had changed from Humans to Beastmen.
Kes slightly frowned, his dried lips uttering two clear words:
"Order..."
