Chapter 567: WAIT!!!

Chapter 567: WAIT!!!

"WAIT!!!"

Leo turned just in time to see Ashton flying towards him like a meteor.

A literal meteor, because his whole body was aflame, using the fire like thrusters.

But Leo’s grip never loosened on the collar holding Nirvan. Leo already knew Gunther would handle things if Ashton acted up.

Trailing shortly behind him was another person—Ashton’s butler, Jubal.

It was then that Leo noticed Ashton’s face was red like a tomato, as though he were absolutely furious.

Damn, looks like old man needs to step up. Leo thought, planning to let go of Nirvan and step back because Ashton emanated the aura of a Mid 5-star, with stats around 29,000, meaning he was on the cusp of High 5-star. Leo was no match for him; the Count was almost thrice as strong as he was.

But—

"IT’S A MISUNDERSTANDING!"

BAM!

Ashton landed dozens of meters away from Leo, creating a crater, almost as if he were afraid Leo might take offence.

Vulcan’s eyes glittered at the sight of Ashton, as though newfound hope had filled them.

"G-grandfather, what sort of captain did you provide us with? See! He fainted even before he coul—"

"Shut up!!" Ashton roared, instantly silencing Vulcan and filling him with shock.

Ashton knew that Jacob must be aware of the shadow backing Leo. No wonder he had been scared to his bones.

After giving Agnivar a single glance, Ashton’s gaze immediately landed on Nirvan, who was still hanging by his collar.

Leo’s 6’9" frame dwarfed Nirvan’s 5’7" stature so completely that Nirvan was dangling off the ground in Leo’s grip.

Ashton ground his teeth so hard that the sound was audible. He was genuinely furious at Nirvan.

"This waste!"

He immediately turned towards Leo, who looked back as though Ashton’s presence meant nothing to him.

"Student Leo, we are deeply sorry for the misunderstanding that caused all this. Please tell us what can be done to improve your ruined mood and mend our relationship," Ashton said, his red face gradually returning to normal as the anger clouding his mind shifted into desperate thoughts of appeasing Leo once again.

Hahahahaha! Knew it! How could someone as shrewd as Ashton afford to offend you? Kid, now it’s up to you how much you can squeeze out of him. Don’t worry, I’ll always help when the time comes.

Gunther’s blustery laugh echoed clearly in Leo’s mind.

He was thoroughly enjoying his time accompanying Leo.

I will never get bored watching situations unfold around you. Wait, hold up.

Gunther immediately pulled out his phone.

My son taught me something about the recording function... Brant and Lu are going to like this very much.

Gunther said with a chuckle before immediately pressing the recording button to capture everything from his unknown location.

Leo ignored Gunther’s rabble and narrowed his eyes at Ashton’s words.

"Count Ashton Ember... nice to meet you, I guess."

As he said that, Leo looked back at Nirvan, clearly conveying that nothing was nice.

Ashton cursed under his breath.

He had already received news about a notable student earning 4000 Gold Coins from his spoils. Then his butler—Jubal—had once again mentioned the name and academy of the student who had tamed a Wyvern, since the letter had been burned.

He had also ordered an assistant to investigate the background of the person Nirvan was about to arrest.

Out of all those leads, only one single name had emerged.

Leo.

Ashton’s throat had gone dry at that moment. And the nail in the coffin came when, the very next instant, he saw a massive Wyvern suddenly get summoned in the banquet area.

He had immediately rushed down, not even bothering to get dressed for the banquet.

And now here he was.

"Student Leo, how about we talk things out in private? There was truly a big misunderstanding," Ashton said, trying to calm the situation.

Leo thought for a moment.

Go for it.

Gunther’s voice echoed in Leo’s head.

Leo tossed Nirvan aside like a bag.

"Alright."

"I appreciate it."

Ashton turned towards Jubal, who had just landed beside him. Even his eyes were filled with shock at what he was witnessing.

3 young masters grovelling on the ground.

10 soldiers crying in agony.

2 captains down.

Even a drake was acting submissively, and the Wyvern was naturally a sight to behold. But Jubal couldn’t even gather the courage to look up at the Wyvern’s face, which seemed to be staring directly at him.

"Jubal! Pick up these idiots and bring them to my quarters! And send these soldiers and captains to the infirmary. Quick!"

After saying that, he turned back to Leo.

"Please follow me."

With a flick of his finger, a long, expensive-looking carpet appeared before Leo.

Ashton stepped onto it, and Leo followed while unsummoning Agnivar. Naturally, Naelith and Thalvyr followed as well. Ashton merely glanced at them before the carpet began floating.

Swoosh!

The carpet shot through the air at a surprising speed. Despite that, the platform remained remarkably stable and rigid, making it comfortable to stand on.

Leo, Naelith, and Thalvyr became distracted by the magnificent view of the castle from above and failed to notice Ashton quietly sighing in relief after seeing their amazed expressions.

It seemed he still had a chance to make things right once again.

Inside the City Lord’s chambers...

Thud! Thud! Thud!

"Argghh—"

"Shut it!"

Hilda and the others weren’t even allowed to groan in pain before Ashton silenced them.

He looked towards Leo, who sat on the sofa with his legs crossed in complete confidence, while Naelith and Thalvyr stood guard beside him.

"Student Leo, shall we clear up our misunderstanding now?" Ashton asked with a pained smile.

Pained because he knew he wasn’t getting out of this without suffering heavy losses.

Leo looked at him.

"Misunderstanding... But Count, I believe there was no scope for misunderstanding from the very beginning. Don’t you think so?"

Leo looked straight into Ashton’s eyes without the slightest hint of fear, despite standing before someone nearly thrice as strong as him.

Yeah... heavy losses...

Ashton grimaced before glancing at Leo’s slaves.

Fuck! Even his slaves are so well-trained.

He cursed inwardly as he watched them remain completely unbothered by his presence.
