Chapter 275: Chapter 275: Misunderstood That Zoe Was Bullied

The spaceship’s exit was forced open, and air rushed in.

It threw the entire space into chaos.

Zoe Pierce tied the Betas together.

Then she went to the ship’s controls and activated a flashing emergency light.

From the outside, one would see a spaceship signaling for an emergency rescue.

After doing all this, she collapsed onto the floor.

Although the anesthetic’s effects had greatly diminished, some of its influence lingered.

She felt drained of strength, and the metallic tang of rust filled her nostrils.

Now, only the sound of breathing filled the spaceship.

She just needed to wait for Miles Sherman and the others to arrive.

Looking up at the silent, grim-faced Betas, Zoe Pierce spoke. "Are you all from Planet B36?"

The young woman’s voice was cool, with a slight hoarseness.

No one wanted to talk to her. If not for her spiritual power binding them, who knows what they would have done by now.

"I’ve seen how you experiment to produce spiritual power."

Zoe Pierce didn’t think her words would move them; she just felt the need to speak.

"On a cold lab table, hooked up to instruments, stimulating brain waves, right?" she said.

The expressions of the Betas before her changed slightly, as if they hadn’t expected Zoe Pierce to actually know.

"I also met a Beta doctor. When the Xenobeast Tide broke out on Planet B36, she insisted on staying behind because there were people there—failed experiments, doomed to remain comatose for life."

Zoe Pierce leaned against the cold metal wall, tilting her head. "I wanted to save her at the time, but she said, ’We don’t need you to save us.’"

"’We can save ourselves.’"

Those words had been weighing on Zoe Pierce’s heart ever since.

She’d never had a chance to say them before, but now, facing this group of Betas, she had the perfect audience.

"She said we were arrogant. She hated Alphas, and she hated me, an Omega."

"Just like that, so stubbornly, she went back during the Xenobeast Tide. She was going to save more of her comrades."

Zoe Pierce had never forgotten the sight of her back as she left.

It had only been a little over half a year, and she could barely remember what the doctor looked like anymore. Yet her resolute words and the choice she made were impossible to forget.

"I know why you wanted to kidnap me." Zoe Pierce suddenly smiled. Though she looked disheveled, the young woman’s beautiful face only took on a strange sort of allure.

"But I still don’t agree with your methods," Zoe Pierce added. "Too many people have died."

No matter how right that doctor might have been, Zoe Pierce had personally seen the comatose patients and more than enough corpses.

Such radical methods would only turn a somewhat understandable cause into the actions of a terrorist organization.

Just like what was happening now.

Zoe Pierce had lost count of how many dead bodies she had seen.

Both Xenobeasts and Betas.

This was anything but normal.

The Betas’ expressions were all somewhat wooden. The younger one, whose voice Zoe Pierce recognized, spoke up hastily. "What do you know? You’re just spouting nonsense."

Zoe Pierce looked up at him. Earlier, when she wasn’t fully conscious, she couldn’t have matched a voice to a face as she could now.

"You think you’re so high and mighty? Just because you ended up like this, you think you can point fingers?"

He was clearly furious; veins bulged on his forehead.

Zoe Pierce, by contrast, seemed calm. "I’m just stating a fact. Too many people have died."

"So, was the attack on me before you discovered my spiritual power justified?" She gave a cold sneer. "Did I deserve to die? Just because I found out your secret?"

They had passed judgment on her, no trial needed.

"Shut up." Seeing the young Beta about to speak again, the Beta leader bound at the very front snapped at him.

"Leader!" The young Beta met his leader’s cold side-glance and pressed his lips shut.

The Beta leader’s gaze fell fully on Zoe Pierce. "We won’t say anything."

He could see through Zoe Pierce’s intentions far better than the younger Beta could.

Although she was just talking casually, it was clear she was trying to fish for information.

Zoe Pierce met his eyes, then used a nearby handhold to pull herself up and look for the air purifier.

The clothes she’d been covered with were now in tatters, and the concentration of her and Chase Shaw’s pheromones in the air was growing stronger.

She glanced down at her training uniform, which had been torn in one spot by something sharp. Her Space Button was gone, so she couldn’t get any other clothes.

Finding the purifier, she pressed the button before turning back around.

She raised an eyebrow. "You’re all acting more like the victims than I am."

’But I’m the real victim here.’

The one who knew the most here was definitely this Beta leader.

He was about the same age as Colonel Hanson, a middle-aged man with deep furrows etched between his brows.

Zoe Pierce then recalled his communication with that mysterious man.

Someone who could disable the entire satellite defense system of E-987.

Clearly, this was no simple figure.

As much as she hated to admit it, Zoe Pierce knew someone on the inside must have been compromised.

After she spoke, no one responded.

Barely a minute passed before Zoe Pierce heard a short sound from outside the door.

She looked up at the monitor screen. Four mechas were hovering outside the spaceship.

Who else could it be but Miles Sherman and the others?

The tension she had been holding finally eased a little. Zoe Pierce opened the spaceship’s hatch.

The four mechas swooped inside, kicking up a fierce gust of wind.

Before the hatch could fully close, several people had already exited their Mech Bays.

The moment they stepped out, the overwhelming scent of pheromones made them freeze.

Aaron Xavier saw Zoe Pierce collapsed to the side, her hair a mess and her face smudged with grime.

Most importantly, it was her clothes.

The tear was located right at her collarbone, about three inches above her chest.

It was just a small patch of exposed skin.

Because of the tear, the zipper at Zoe Pierce’s neck had slid down slightly, and she was using the collar of her uniform to try and cover the opening.

But Aaron Xavier’s composure snapped.

His pupils contracted violently. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦

Even though he could clearly see the group of Betas were already tied up, Aaron Xavier couldn’t control himself. He instantly grabbed the middle-aged leader by the collar.

"What did you do to her?"

Miles Sherman pulled a jacket from his Space Button and swiftly wrapped it around Zoe Pierce.

Nathan Lockwood’s expression was just as cold. He asked in a low voice from the side, "Are your limbs weak?"

Zoe Pierce was stunned and replied instinctively, "Yeah... the anesthetic. I still feel a little off."

But she felt something was wrong with the current situation.

Aaron Xavier and Chase Shaw were on the verge of strangling the men.

"Don’t kill them..." she said, grabbing Miles Sherman’s hand.

"Did they lay a hand on you?" At Nathan Lockwood’s words, Zoe Pierce belatedly looked down at her collarbone, then sniffed the air. Suddenly, it all clicked.

’Wait... have they misunderstood something?’
