Chapter 274: Chapter 274: Take Off Her Clothes
Such meticulousness only served to highlight her importance.
She recalled the images Nathan Lockwood had once recorded with his Intelligent Brain.
Those young people, lying cold on the experimental beds.
’If they really succeeded,’ Zoe Pierce thought, ’I’d probably be a little better off than them.’
After all, they couldn’t afford to let her die.
If she died, where else would they find an Omega who could use spiritual power? Where else would they find a soul from Earth?
Only now could Zoe Pierce wonder if her unique spiritual power was a mutation resulting from the very nature of her existence.
Not even amnesia had managed to make her forget everything that had happened on Earth.
The breathing around her was tense, and Zoe Pierce could feel the oppressive weight of the atmosphere.
The idle chatter on the spaceship had ceased.
There were only curt commands and the sound of mechanical buttons being pressed.
Zoe Pierce didn’t know how much longer she could keep up the act. The tingling numbness from the drug had already worn off.
All that remained was the discomfort of being held in this position.
A growing ache was spreading through her lower back.
But if she moved, she would undoubtedly draw their attention.
"Bypass them on the front-left," the Beta captain commanded again.
Someone monitoring the video feed announced, "A Mecha is in pursuit, sir."
"It’s Miles Sherman’s team."
The Beta captain’s gaze swept over to Zoe Pierce. "Are you sure everything she had on her was thrown out?"
His brow furrowed as he seemed to ponder how Miles Sherman’s team had managed to stay on their tail.
The men beside him had already scanned Zoe Pierce’s body with various instruments, and all her pockets had long since been searched.
"There’s nothing on her."
With the existence of Space Buttons, most people only carried a Space Button and nothing else.
Even Zoe Pierce’s Mecha Space Button had been discarded.
Now, aside from the officer’s training uniform she wore, she had virtually nothing on her.
He paused, watching Miles Sherman’s team. They seemed to be keeping their distance, yet they were still in pursuit.
There was no way Miles Sherman’s team could know what their ship looked like.
They could clearly only pinpoint a general location, which tied their hands, making them hesitant to attack any other ships.
They, on the other hand, had no such scruples and could use their ship to attack Miles Sherman’s Mechas.
He narrowed his eyes and ordered, "Get her into a different set of clothes."
A jolt of alarm went through Zoe Pierce.
"Just in case, have someone take her clothes onto a Mecha and leave the ship."
The men who heard the order all glanced at Zoe Pierce.
Even in her current disheveled state, no one could ignore her distinctly feminine features.
An Omega woman.
A stunningly beautiful woman.
The kind of woman who could stir desire even in a Beta male.
And now, there was clearly no woman on board to change her clothes.
The captain’s words were cold and emotionless.
As far as he was concerned, Zoe Pierce just needed to be alive; he couldn’t care less about anything else.
And for this group of Betas, who lived with their lives constantly on the line, Zoe Pierce was just another target.
Any thought for societal norms lasted only a few seconds in their minds.
"Just get her into one of your uniforms. Hurry up."
Zoe Pierce felt the Beta men, who had been standing two meters away, begin to approach.
Now, it would be much harder to keep pretending to be unconscious.
Her form-fitting training suit, zipped up to her neck, was worn under a jacket.
The question now was whether to endure it.
Underneath the training suit, she wore a thin layer of undergarments.
"Change everything. Not one piece of her own clothing can remain on her." No one could be sure that her clothes didn’t conceal something they had missed.
Zoe Pierce sighed internally.
She knew her plan of action was over.
She couldn’t bring herself to let a group of strange men strip her naked and handle her body while she was conscious.
She probably couldn’t even tolerate waking up to find it had been done while she was unconscious.
Even though they only intended to change her clothes, she couldn’t bear it.
Her fingers twitched imperceptibly.
She used her spiritual power to gauge the distance. In another meter, the closest Beta male would reach her jacket.
The next second, she stopped hesitating.
Zoe Pierce shot upright, her spiritual power instantly slamming down every Beta within a five-meter radius.
For the current Zoe Pierce, using spiritual power like Chase Shaw’s was as easy as breathing.
Clearly, no one had expected Zoe Pierce to suddenly strike.
No one had time to react until they saw the captain, who had been closest to Zoe Pierce, also pinned down by her spiritual power.
Everyone on the ship knew the operation had failed.
The spiritual power suppressor, capable of restraining even an Alpha, had no effect on Zoe Pierce.
And the anesthetic had clearly lost its effect as well.
"Don’t move." Even though she could use her spiritual power, the restraints on her hands and feet were still in place. Seeing the captain, pinned to the floor, still trying to do something, Zoe Pierce immediately clamped down on all their fingers with her power.
She hadn’t forgotten the sudden loss of consciousness caused by the earlier handshake.
If she got hit with another dose of that anesthetic, there was no telling when she would wake up again.
Pinned to the floor, the Beta captain’s face was twisted in a ferocious scowl.
He struggled violently, but it was utterly useless against the crushing pressure of her spiritual power.
Zoe Pierce used her spiritual power to slice through the restraints on her hands and feet.
She also twisted her spiritual power into a protective shell around herself.
Thanks to the joint exam, Zoe Pierce still remembered Ethan Grant’s teammate.
While this technique wasn’t as fluid as the spiritual power used by the likes of Nathan Lockwood, it was enough to prevent any sneak attacks.
With her spiritual power, dealing with the men on the ship wasn’t difficult for Zoe Pierce.
Her relationship to them was now the same as Miles Sherman’s team to them.
Their hands were tied.
They couldn’t kill Zoe Pierce, so their only option was to constantly look for a chance to hit her with the anesthetic.
But she was inside her own "snail shell," and without spiritual power of their own to counter it, they were completely helpless against her.
The ship wasn’t small, but a dozen or so men were still utterly powerless against Zoe Pierce.
Seeing Zoe Pierce restrain more and more of his men, the captain let out a low growl. "Run!"
The next moment, Zoe Pierce felt a wave of weightlessness.
The ship’s hatch had been opened.
The men who hadn’t been pinned down immediately jumped out and boarded their Mechas.
The sandstorm outside had lessened but not completely subsided. The moment the hatch opened, Zoe Pierce felt as if the wind would blow her eyes shut.
She quickly grabbed a nearby handle.
She used Gravity Control to force the hatch closed.
After a full thirty seconds of struggle, the ship’s main hatch was finally sealed shut.
Only a few Betas were left on the ship—those who had been closest to her, pinned to the ground by her spiritual power and unable to escape.
The entire ship was now in a state of utter chaos.
