Chapter 258: Chapter 258: She Was Soft All Over
Chase Shaw was in agony in the car. Several times, he wanted to just go straight home.
If he just lay on their bed, he could smell their mixed pheromones—and it wasn’t just the bed; the scent was everywhere.
He had no idea how long he’d been waiting, but just as he felt himself growing more and more irritable, the car door opened.
His eyes snapped open. Seeing it was the person he’d been longing for, he yanked her forcefully into his arms.
"Zoe Pierce, you’re so cruel." Chase Shaw glanced at his Intelligent Brain; four hours had passed.
’The procedure just now shouldn’t have taken this long.’
Chase Shaw’s embrace was impossible to resist. Zoe Pierce patted his back and reminded him, "Close the door."
The Hovercar door slid shut the moment she spoke.
The suppression patch on the back of her neck was torn off and tossed aside mere seconds after she got in the car.
He started kissing the nape of her neck again. "What took you so long? Were you doing it on purpose?"
His hand kneaded her waist as he asked in a low voice.
Zoe Pierce was completely defenseless as he held her tightly, nuzzling and caressing her all over.
In the cramped Hovercar, there was nowhere to run even if she wanted to.
"I was giving Councilor Ford and Councilor Rhodes a tour of the academy just now. We talked for a while, that’s why I’m late."
The main issue was that the academy is quite large. We spent over two hours walking and stopping, and we still didn’t see it all. But we’d said what needed to be said, so I came back.
Chase Shaw’s breathing was heavy. His roaming hands didn’t stop until he was certain Zoe Pierce’s gland was emitting the scent of them both.
"What did you talk about?" he asked distractedly.
Zoe Pierce, too frazzled from his manhandling to be annoyed, tugged down the hem of her shirt. "They said there’s a physical exam I need to get."
"I just asked about what exactly they’ll be testing." The other things were fine, but when it came to pheromones, Zoe Pierce felt a little guilty.
When she was tested after returning from Harvestfall, her temporary mark was still from Nathan Lockwood. She’d made up an excuse back then, but now it was Chase Shaw.
Using the same excuse again would be hard to justify.
So Zoe Pierce confirmed that there would be no pheromone tests, just the basic ones and a spiritual power assessment.
"They said I just need to get the physical done in the next few days." Director Quinn was there too. He frowned but didn’t say anything in the end.
The thought of Zoe Pierce having to leave for a physical exam displeased Chase Shaw. "Didn’t Director Quinn say he could provide the medical report?"
Because of The Military’s investigation, both Zoe Pierce and Chase Shaw had already undergone numerous physicals recently.
Now, making Zoe Pierce go through another one was a bit of a waste of time.
"Councilor Rhodes insisted. It’s fine." After so many exams, even Zoe Pierce wasn’t too bothered by it anymore.
Chase Shaw subconsciously found it a little strange, but his mind wasn’t clear right now. He just held Zoe Pierce, not thinking about anything else.
Zoe Pierce watched the scenery change outside, a belated wave of nervousness washing over her. But then she figured that if Chase Shaw dared to act like this in the car, he must have a way to ensure no one would find out.
"Next time, we shouldn’t take the same car from school," Zoe Pierce added.
Chase Shaw felt that not a single thing Zoe Pierce had said since getting in the car had been pleasant to hear.
He bit her earlobe, nibbling on it. "We used to ride together before, but not anymore?"
’This is completely backward.’
Zoe Pierce couldn’t help it. Before she was actually with them, she wouldn’t have thought twice about riding in a Hovercar alone with any one of them.
But now she was really with them.
And he wouldn’t behave himself in the Hovercar.
Just like right now, Chase Shaw had practically wrinkled her clothes into a crumpled mess, and his own weren’t much better.
Anyone who opened the door, smelled the scent, and saw their disheveled appearances would know exactly what "good deeds" the two of them had been up to.
She really couldn’t argue her point with any confidence anymore.
"No one can see inside the car," Chase Shaw said, sensing her worries. He started caressing her hand again, so soft and seemingly boneless that he couldn’t resist touching it more.
’How is she so soft everywhere? No amount of caressing is enough.’
"Chase..." Zoe Pierce called out softly.
Chase Shaw immediately looked up at her, only to hear her coo sweetly, "Please promise me."
Her little mouth was chattering on about something. It took Chase Shaw a moment to realize Zoe was still talking about the car situation.
Logically, he didn’t think it was a big deal, but in reality, his Omega cared a great deal.
He had just started to frown when he saw Zoe Pierce smooth it out with her finger.
After she did this a few times, Chase Shaw was helpless.
"I know, I know. No more riding alone with you in a Hovercar, right?"
Zoe Pierce nodded.
Actually, if it weren’t for Chase Shaw’s sensitive period today, she wouldn’t have come. She probably would have just taken the Hovercar she arrived in.
When the two of them were alone together outside, problems like this could easily arise.
Because of their disheveled state, neither of them used the main entrance. Instead, they went to the underground garage where no one would notice.
The moment she stepped inside, Zoe Pierce was hit by the strong, tangled scent of pheromones that filled the house.
Chase Shaw hadn’t even turned on the air purifier, simply letting the pheromones run wild in their home.
The next second, he swept her up by the waist and pinned her against the sofa.
A storm of kisses descended upon her.
He had missed her so much he couldn’t wait another moment.
In another Hovercar, Yara looked at Quentin Ford. "Have your people come by then."
Quentin Ford, with his usual refined and gentle demeanor, replied, "Alright."
He even added reassuringly, "It should be fine, really. Don’t worry, it’s just a formality."
Yara thought so too, but she still countered, "Then why did you remind me?"
Quentin Ford seemed a bit helpless. "You know me. I’ve always been a bit of a meddler, always worrying too much. I don’t know the specifics of this situation; I can only give you a heads-up."
"After all these years, you talk about me, but you haven’t changed a bit either." Yara shook her head. Quentin Ford had always been like this, even when they were young.
Quentin Ford fell silent for a moment, then remarked with a sigh, "If I weren’t so thorough, this position as the lead Beta councilor wouldn’t have fallen to me."
Betas aren’t like Omegas and Alphas, for whom strength can sometimes be the key that smashes a door open for them.
Betas, lacking spiritual power, lose that standard of judgment and are evaluated entirely based on worldly, outdated connections.
Whoever can win over the most people and gain the favor of the Alpha and Omega councilors gets to sit in this seat.
Yara noticed Quentin Ford’s momentary melancholy and didn’t pursue the topic. "In any case, we’ll know everything after the examination."
"Yes." Quentin Ford smiled, his expression nonchalant.
’There might be a payoff, or there might be nothing.’
’After all, if it weren’t for this accident, he never would have known that Zoe Pierce had been hiding it for so long.’
’Her spiritual power is both special and concealed.’
’If he doesn’t see this physical exam through himself, he won’t be able to sleep at night.’
