Chapter 590: Material Gathering (I)

"Isn’t that a bit broken?!" the twins exclaimed, learning what the Goddess of Farming has been concocting these days.

"What do you mean, broken? It is working! And besides, wouldn’t that reduce the hassle of farming itself? Where would you be getting the chance to find something like this in the supermarket or anything? And with the land itself providing the boost of growth, getting a fertilizer that boosts yield and harvest is another thing as well. If the farmer is listening to this, she would be totally ecstatic on the idea."

Adelaide sighed. "But wouldn’t that break the balance of the farming market? The quick growth that will happen with every farm that gets hold of this will surely boom in produce. This will totally cause the farmers to try and get a chance to have one in their hands."

"Hahaha, there’s no need to worry about that matter, girl. I don’t offer this fertilizer to anyone other than the farmer, and considering that the two of you basically inherited the farm from her even though she isn’t dead, it means you two also gain access to this fertilizer as well."

"Surely, this fertilizer costs something, right? After all, there’s nothing in this world is totally free," Arthur asked.

The Harvest Goddess grinned. "Of course. I would be an idiot if I kept producing this thing without even receiving anything in return. But it isn’t money. I have no need for money, and I can’t even use that. Instead, give me food. Anything, whether produce or cooked food. I will eat all of it. If you give me a year’s worth of supplies, then I will also provide you two a year worth of supplies of this enhanced fertilizer as well. So, how is it? A win-win in my book, right? Not only do you gain enhanced yield and you gain much more than you planted, but you can get your worth of fertilizer without paying a dime!"

The two glanced at each other. Arthur whispered. "This is quite a steal, Sis. No wonder Mother seems to always be harvesting every single day, so this is her secret?"

"Indeed. Mother clearly hid this matter from us and didn’t even tell us how magical this farm is. If we knew, we would have asked her to plant a lot of things that could have been planted here that we could have kept on using during the dungeon runs we do," Adelaide nodded.

"Whisper all you want, you two; I can still hear what you two are saying, though. So, what should it be?" the Harvest Goddess asked.

"We won’t be missing this opportunity. With all the produce this farm gives, we are basically overflowing with supplies. Giving you our supply doesn’t even cost us anything. We agree!"

The Harvest Goddess grinned. "Alright. And here I thought I would not be getting anything this year with your mother currently unconscious, and I don’t want to demand something when she isn’t even around."

"What about that food you are eating though?" Arthur asked, pointing on the bowl that the Harvest Goddess keeps on picking strawberries from.

"Oh, this? My personal stash. Since I can store food without it spoiling, I can get food whenever I get hungry or need a snack. Anyways, our deal is complete, yeah?"

Adelaide nodded. "You can raid our kitchen if you want, Harvest Goddess. As long as you don’t eat all of our food, you are welcome to go and grab anything or when we cook. You are welcome to do that."

Hearing that, the Harvest Goddess nodded with a grin on her face. "Haha, you two are more agreeable than your Mother, which is great. I won’t disagree with that. Anyways, I overheard the two of you are trying to awaken your Mother, correct?"

"Yes, that is correct. I don’t know if you know the God of Farming, considering both of you are gods, but he is the one who ordered us to do this, and we agreed with his terms just so we can awaken our mother again."

The Harvest Goddess’s face turned serious upon hearing this. "So the God of Farming has a way to wake her up. If you two need help, whatever it is, I am willing to help without a fee. If it helps out with the farmer waking up again, then I will do whatever it takes to do that."

The two are surprised again. Although they thought that she is a greedy goddess, it seemed that she had deep respect for their Mother. The fact that she is the first one to begin fighting when their mother was stabbed shows how she cares for her.

"We will keep that in mind." The two nodded in agreement.

With the Harvest Goddess, they now have a goddess they can ask for help anytime they are hit in a snag related to the Gods, considering the God of Farming is someone they can’t constantly talk to, due to his busy task of uncovering what could help their Mother awaken.

....

....

....

"With the secrets related to the farm finally known to us, we should divide this task, Sis. That way, we can quickly finish this without issues," Arthur suggested.

Adelaide was surprised. "I never expected you to suggest that first! I was about to suggest that later, considering we both need to do something in the farm and the dungeon like this. But seeing you mention it, I am not expecting that all from you."

Arthur frowned. "What do you imply by that? That I am more of a muscle brain than someone who knows how to think? I can think too, just that I prefer to have the others who are more intellectual, like you, do all of the thinking stuff. But right now, I don’t want to be just a burden. I will contribute as well."

"Well, that one I agree. Well, let’s get to it. One of the things we needed to do is to do our material gathering. One will need to tend the farm, and the other will go to the dungeon. Considering that you like to fight, how about you go to the dungeon while I do the farm work?" Adelaide suggested.

However, Arthur seemed not to like Adelaide’s suggestion. "I may be all brawn, but I wanted to reverse our roles this time. How about this: we swap our roles, you go to the dungeon, while I do the farm work?"

Adelaide is surprised. After all, Arthur is someone who cares more in battle than something related to farming so she quickly assumed that he will be more on dungeon diving than fighting this time around.

"Why though? I thought you wanted to swing your sword again?"

"Not this time. I know that fighting monsters is something I do enjoy...but I wanted to do something else. And farming seems to hit that. And besides, Sis. I also know that you wanted to practice your magic spells as well. You basically didn’t get to properly use your abilities against our enemy at that time to the point you even lost one of your eyes. And besides, shouldn’t this be a good time to actually train your abilities again while utilizing only your remaining eye? I am fine mostly, except for a few injuries, but for you, you lost a crucial part of your body. Would fighting with one of your eyes blind be good enough?"

Adelaide went silent. Arthur is correct. After that incident and after losing her other eye, she is now determined to gain mastery on her magic while she has no sight on her blind eye. Without reliance to it, can she properly maintain her capability at all? But with this setup, she can basically start again.

"Well? If you don’t agree, we can just remain in our role. I will go to the dungeon, and you continue the farm work," Arthur scratches his head.

"Can you work as hard as I do with my absence?" Adelaide smiled.

"Heh, as if I am going to be left behind, Sis. I may not be that experienced in farming, but that doesn’t mean I can’t do it. Just watch me."

Adelaide smiled. She is not worried about Arthur’s skills. In fact, he showed a lot of promise. His ability to learn everything fast is quite noticeable, especially on things that he has interest in. With farming starting to root as something he has interest in, Adelaide is now convinced that Arthur will not only become a great farmer, he also has a chance to become obsessed to it to the point that he might entirely give up fighting in favor to farming.

But with his strength, Adelaide is not worried. For now, she needed to get used to having a single eye to work with when using magic. She wondered whether this will become a hindrance to her in the future or will be something that will eventually help her out.

The twins, now locked to their specific work, will now begin their material gathering, in hopes that their effort will bear fruit to help their Mother.
