Chapter 504: Chapter 501: Not Letting Clara Grant Off Easy
However...
Faye Jennings suddenly seemed to remember something. The thoughtful look in her eyes deepened, and after a moment, she spoke.
"But I’ve only known Clara Grant since we started working on the film set. I don’t know her that well, let alone have any dirt on her. Clara is incredibly popular on set; it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to call her the crew’s darling.
"The staff likes her, the director and screenwriter look out for her, and even Miles dotes on her. While at home Clara Grant is his sister-in-law, at school, she was his junior. It’s normal to care for your sister-in-law, of course, but from what I’ve seen, the way Miles treats Clara is more like a senior looking after his junior."
Though Faye Jennings’s words sounded like casual, rambling chatter with little logic, Autumn Shelby immediately grasped the crucial point.
"Are you saying Miles is in love with Clara Grant?" Autumn Shelby grew excited. If that were true, there was no way the Quinn Family would let Clara continue as one of their own, right?
’Even in an ordinary family, two brothers falling for the same woman would be considered a disgrace that tarnishes the family’s name. It would be even more scandalous for a prominent family that prizes its reputation above all else.’
’Even if nothing had happened between Clara Grant and Miles, even if it was just an unrequited crush on his part, Clara would still be accused of improper conduct. Otherwise, how could she possibly have captivated two brothers with such completely different personalities and interests!’
’At the very least, Clara would be branded a femme fatale. And wealthy families fear nothing more than marrying such a disastrously beautiful woman.’
’Because not only could it cause the brothers to turn on each other, it could also destroy the family’s fortune.’
’In a situation like this, the one who gets sacrificed is always the femme fatale.’
The more Autumn Shelby thought about it, the more excited she became, almost able to picture the scene of Clara Grant being thrown out of the Quinn family home.
Forgetting her refined composure, she leaned forward slightly, stared at Faye Jennings, and asked again, "Do you have any proof?"
Faye Jennings spread her hands. "I don’t. But Miss Shelby, you’re a woman of great means. I’m sure you have ways of getting proof, don’t you?"
Autumn Shelby was a little disappointed, but a moment later, her spirits lifted again.
’Since Faye Jennings provided the tip, she would surely be able to find the evidence.’
Autumn Shelby took a final sip of her coffee, stood up, and looked down at Faye Jennings, her supremely noble expression returning. "Alright, that’s all for now. I’ll be leaving."
As she spoke, she glanced at the cup of coffee in front of Faye Jennings, a smirk playing on her lips. "Enjoy your coffee. It’s on me."
With that, she turned and walked away, her high heels clicking with an elegant and noble grace.
"Take care, Miss Shelby," Faye Jennings said perfunctorily, turning to watch her retreating back.
Only after Autumn Shelby’s figure disappeared through the doorway did she pull back her gaze and turn to look at the coffee in front of her.
’She was rather satisfied with this collaboration. Regardless of whether she or Autumn Shelby ultimately succeeded in becoming the woman by Seth Quinn’s side, their first step was to get rid of Clara Grant.’
’Even if she couldn’t win against Autumn Shelby in the end, she refused to let Clara Grant have it easy!’
...
On the fourth day of his injury, Seth Quinn was transferred to the hospital where Rowan Linden worked and was moved into the best available room.
By this point, Seth’s injuries had already healed a great deal. He could move his upper body slightly, sit up for short periods, and even sleep on his side.
Clara Grant had been taking care of Seth Quinn with all her heart for the past few days. Feeling for her after all her hard work, Seth suggested she go home to take a nice bath and relax.
