Chapter 493: Chapter 486: I Have Something to Confess to You

After a moment’s thought, she answered, but before she could speak, a rather arrogant voice came from the other end. "Hello, Miss Jennings."

Faye Jennings composed herself and raised an eyebrow, a smile playing on her lips. "Miss Shelby, hello. To what do I owe the pleasure? Is there something important?"

Autumn Shelby’s laughter came from the other end. "I’m surprised. After a whole year, Miss Jennings still has my old number."

Faye Jennings lowered her gaze and kicked a small stone away. Her voice was deceptively gentle. "Of course. After all, it was you, Miss Shelby, who required all Aegis employees to save your number. We had to answer the very moment you called, or we’d be punished. So, how could I possibly dare to delete it?"

As Faye Jennings spoke, she scoffed internally. Back then, even though Seth Quinn was cold toward Autumn Shelby, he indulged her in so many ways. That was why Faye had always believed Autumn was the one he loved most.

Autumn Shelby seemed to have it all, while she—back when she was still an obscure rookie at Aegis, not yet their top star—felt deeply insecure whenever she was around her.

Later, even after Aegis threw its full support behind her and she gradually rose to fame, she remained deferential and insecure in Autumn Shelby’s presence.

But now, Autumn Shelby was just another woman Seth Quinn couldn’t care less about—just like her. ’So why should I feel inferior to her anymore?’

Autumn Shelby naturally caught the sarcasm in Faye Jennings’s tone. Her voice tightened, and she cut straight to the point, dropping the pleasantries. "Faye Jennings, I need to talk to you. Find some time to meet me tomorrow morning."

"Oh, I’m so sorry, Miss Shelby. The production has rules against us leaving the studio lot whenever we please. If there’s something you need, we’d better discuss it over the phone."

Hearing the rejection, Autumn Shelby practically gritted her teeth. ’She used to be so deferential, at my beck and call. Now that she’s an A-list celebrity, she doesn’t give a damn about me!’

"This isn’t something I can explain in a few words over the phone. Besides, you came out today, didn’t you? I didn’t hear you mention any production rules then."

"Miss Shelby, I went out today for President Quinn. Naturally, the production team wouldn’t dare stop me. Meeting with you, however, isn’t an official matter. It would be difficult for me to get the director’s permission," Faye Jennings’s voice grew cold.

"Miss Jennings, I’m sure you’re resourceful enough to get away if you really want to. And let me tell you this: meeting with me has everything to gain and nothing to lose. Whether or not you decide to come, Miss Jennings... you should think about that very carefully."

Without waiting for Faye Jennings’s reply, Autumn Shelby hung up.

Faye Jennings stared at her phone, deep in thought for a moment. Then, her face devoid of expression, she turned and walked back to her hotel.

...

Clara Grant and Miles Quinn returned to the hospital and explained everything to Seth Quinn. Seth himself didn’t have much of a reaction, but Mrs. Cheney, standing by his side, was visibly outraged.

"Wonderful! The truth is finally out, and we know who the culprit is! I’ll go tell the master and madam right away. They can speak with the police and make sure that vicious woman is punished severely!"

Clara Grant watched Mrs. Cheney’s righteous indignation, her lips parting as if she wanted to say something, but in the end, she remained silent.

With Clara Grant back, Mrs. Cheney could return to the Quinn family home. Since Miles Quinn was heading back as well, he gave her a ride.

Once they were alone in the room, Seth Quinn glanced at the pensive Clara Grant. He had already noticed that something seemed to be on her mind.

After a moment, he asked gently, "Clara, is there something you want to say?"

Clara Grant looked up, surprised for a second, then shook her head. "Oh, no. Why?"

’I don’t have any proof. I’d better not say anything.’

Seth Quinn watched her for a long moment before smiling. "It’s nothing."

He then watched her carefully and added, "Actually, I have something to tell you. To be more precise, something to confess."
