Chapter 492: Chapter 485: The Heat Is On, So I Won’t Touch You For Now
Seeing that Sandra seemed to understand, she added, "Remember, Sandra. You have to cooperate fully with the officers. Answer every question they ask and tell them everything, you understand?"
Sandra felt the object in her palm. She looked at Faye Jennings with a vacant expression and nodded instinctively.
"Alright, it’s about time. We have to go. Miss Jennings, you can head back now," the police captain said, glancing at his watch.
Two officers immediately stepped forward, took Sandra by the arms, and led her to the squad car before pushing her inside.
The squad car sped away.
Faye Jennings watched the car speed off into the distance. The sorrowful expression on her face vanished in an instant, and a chill surfaced in her eyes.
’Judging by Sandra’s reaction, she still trusts me. As long as she does what I wrote on that slip of paper, the police will never suspect me.’
At that thought, the corner of Faye Jennings’s mouth curled into a triumphant, cold smirk.
Clara Grant’s voice suddenly came from behind her. "What did you say to Sandra?"
Faye Jennings froze. The sorrowful expression immediately returned to her face. She turned to look at Clara and Miles Quinn, sighed softly, and said, "What else could I say? I just told her to cooperate with the officers’ investigation and that it’s better to be honest. I hope she takes my words to heart."
Clara Grant stared at her for a long moment, as if trying to spot something amiss.
But she also knew Faye Jennings probably wasn’t lying. The police were standing right there, after all. It would have been impossible for her to say anything else.
’Besides,’ Clara thought, ’someone like Sandra, who was that terrified just at the sight of the police, won’t be able to withstand an interrogation. The truth will come out soon enough.’
In the face of Clara Grant’s probing gaze, Faye Jennings remained perfectly at ease, showing no hint of discomfort.
Clara Grant finally blinked, offering a small smile. "Thank you for helping us find the killer," she said. "At least Seth didn’t suffer for nothing."
After everything that had happened, it was impossible for Clara Grant to affectionately call her "Faye" anymore. She was an actress. Faking closeness, putting on a front while feeling something else entirely—it was second nature to her. But she refused to put on that act now.
’It would be too hypocritical!’
Still, she had to give thanks where they were due.
Although she was smiling when she said it, Faye Jennings clearly sensed the distance between them. She didn’t let it show, however, and replied warmly, "Clara, you don’t have to thank me. I’m just happy I could help President Quinn find the real killer."
After speaking, she glanced at Miles Quinn and added, "Well, you and Miles be careful on your way back. Miles, don’t drive too fast. Take good care of Clara."
Miles Quinn raised an eyebrow but still nodded in acknowledgment.
As Clara Grant and Miles Quinn left, Faye Jennings stared at their retreating backs. Her expression changed in an instant, her eyes turning frigid and sinister.
’Clara Grant, I’ll leave you alone for now, since the heat is on.’
But then, the face of another girl appeared in her mind. Faye Jennings snorted. ’It’s about time I dealt with Holly Summers.’
She couldn’t touch Clara Grant, but Holly Summers? A nobody actress? She could definitely go after her.
’Isn’t Holly Summers good friends with Clara Grant? Always sucking up to her? I’ll show her what good it does to follow Clara Grant!’
"RING RING RING..."
A monotonous ringtone cut through the air, interrupting Faye Jennings’s thoughts.
She took out her phone and glanced down. When she saw the caller’s name, her expression changed.
