Chapter 112: THE RITUAL
"Why?" Zuri felt uneasy, she didn't want to be away from Khaos, but when she lifted her head to look at him, he didn't show any expression, he seemed aloof and distant and this made her anxious.
'Run! Run!'
The voices in her head screamed at her. They told her to run from there. Not to trust these people. Not to trust Rhett or Khaos.
Zuri didn't trust most of the people in this room, because this was the first time for her to see them, but Rhett and Khaos... she trusted them.
"I am going to show you something," Rhett said, he smiled at her like usual. She was her favorite brother, there was no reason for her not to trust him.
'You are so stupid to think that you can trust him! You can't trust him.'
'Just because he smiled at you, it doesn't mean he didn't hide a dagger behind his back.'
'You are supposed to be a brilliant girl, Zuri, but why you can be this stupid to trust them easily?'
'Run, stupid cunt!'
"Why should I?" Zuri answered the voices in her head and Rhett noticed that.
"It's the voices again, right?" Rhett asked, his voice was even more gentle if it was possible, giving her reassurance that everything would be alright. "I will help you. I will get those voices away from your head."
Zuri then once again looked at Khaos and she didn't avert her gaze until she got a response from him, only when Khaos nodded to agree with Rhett's suggestion that Zuri finally came with her brother.
There was a slab in the middle of the garden and Rhett told her to lay down there. "I am your brother. I will not let anything happen to you, okay?"
"But, why I should lay down there?" Zuri frowned. "I feel like I am being in for a sacrifice or something."
"Silly, I will not do that to you," Rhett chuckled, the sound that Zuri was familiar with, but then her focus was on Khaos.
He didn't do anything, standing rooted in the same place, their eyes met, but she couldn't read what was in his mind. He was... scarily quiet.
"Come on, lay down," Rhett coaxed her again until she gave in.
In the end, Zuri trusted her brother, as she laid down on the slab and stared at the bleak sky, as snow started falling. It was cold. The slab was cold. Her back was cold and the voices in her head were screaming at her to run, but like usual, she ignored them.
"Snow..." Zuri said in a whisper, as she raised her hand and touched the first snow that fell on her hand. It melted on her skin, but one of the strange people, who were wearing white cloak, grabbed her hands and shackled her, along with her legs too.
[Khaos, I am not sure if I can see this.] Caiden mindlinked Khaos, he knew what they were going to do and he had learned about beauty blood too. He didn't think he could handle seeing this.
"Yes, it's snowing now." Rhett caressed her cheek, but her eyes were on Khaos, she kept staring at him.
However, the people in the white cloak blocked her sight and the pain begin...

Zuri must have not been in her right mind yet, because some time she would look confused and followed whatever people told her to do without questioning their motive further, therefore, it was not strange to see her did what Rhett told her to do, though she originally looked doubtful.
And now, this would be the first time for Khaos to watch how they inflicted the curses on Zuri. He couldn't see her because she was blocked by the white cloak men that gathered around the slab, where she was laying down.
However, Khaos could hear it clearly the pain in her screams. The agony in her voice when she called for him.
That brilliant young woman, who helped him to get the deal, betrayed her own family for him and stood up through the misery that people around her put her through, right now reduced to a pitiful woman, who was on the mercy of these greedy people, who sought for revenge.
Zuri kept calling his name throughout the pain...

"What are you trying to do, Rose?" Nycta asked sharply once they were alone.
"What do you mean, Nycta?" Rose furrowed her brows, looking concern with the strong hatred that she showed her.
"I know what you are trying to do, Rose, don't you dare to play innocent with me." Nycta narrowed her eyes at her dangerously. She wanted to slap her, but at the same time, she realized that she was being controlled by her anger.
"Nycta, I don't understand what are you trying to imply here. If you were upset because of my suggestion to the king?" Rose tried to calm her down, but Nycta was having none of it.
Probably this was pregnancy hormone, but she became more feisty and possessive over what hers and the king was hers. Her mate, her man.
"Try something like this again and I will make sure you will not be able to step in this
kingdom anymore."
"You can't do that."
"Of course, I can. I am the queen.'
After saying that Nycta turned around and left, but Rose stood there, looking shocked, yet her expression quickly hardened and the first thing she did was to go to the king's study room to meet with him and poured out her grievances.
"I don't think I can help with the problem with the ship anymore, because apparently, the queen is not happy with my suggestion."
Dacre leaned against the chair and intertwined his fingers, staring at Rose with impassive expression. "Why my queen has anything to do with this? Did you say something to upset
her?"
Rose shook her head, she walked over to approach him.
"Stay where you are, you can speak from there." Dacre stopped her.
