Chapter 106: HALLUCINATION

[She said that those people looked for you to kill you, alpha.] Gayle mindlinked Khaos as they went to the woods, where Zuri had gone.

[Why she thought that way?]

[I don't know, she only kept muttering the same thing over and over again, but when I asked, she didn't answer me.]

Khaos immediately knew that Zuri was having one of her episodes. Not only she heard voices and saw things that were not supposed to be there, but she created a story in her mind too.

The fact that she believed that, was what bothered Khaos. From the look of it, she had a hard time to differentiate what was real and what was not.

This was the side effect of the curses that was put on her and because she didn't have the medicine, it only got worse rapidly.

There were still a lot of information that Khaos needed to learn about this beauty blood, but he couldn't stay away for long.

Once they reached the woods, they met with the other three warriors that Gayle had sent to look for Zuri.

"I am sorry, alpha, we can't find her. Her trace was already covered with snow," one of the warriors reported.

"I know this wood. I will look for her myself," Rhett said and then shifted into his beast again to search for Zuri alone.

"Send more people, I want the entire wood to be covered," Khaos ordered his warriors, as he shifted into his beast and started to look for her as well.

The warrior was right, because of the snow last night, the entire ground had covered with it and the cold weather made it hard for them to trace her scent.

However, as a lycan, his senses were more profound. It took a while, but he managed to catch her scent on the bark of tree that she touched.

Following her scent, Khaos found Zuri was sitting under a maple tree, rocking herself back and forth with her eyes closed. She sang to herself in low voice.

She looked worn out, probably because she had been running around the entire night in the wood. Her dress was so dirty and her hair was messy.

Khaos sighed in relief to see her and then approached her carefully. He knelt down in front of her and only then Zuri opened her eyes.

She stopped singing and rocking her body, her eyes glued to him.

"Let's go back home," Khaos said, he brushed a few strands of hair away from her face.

By now, the sun had risen, illuminating all the dark corners of the wood. The ray of the sun fell on her face and she squinted her eyes slightly.

"Is that really you? Or am I seeing thing again?" Zuri asked, her voice was hoarse, she looked very tired.

"It's me." Khaos let her touched his face and kissed her palm. The weather was rather cold right now and he shrugged his cloak off to put it on her shoulders.

"There were people who wanted to harm you." Zuri moved her body, she rested her head against his chest, hearing his strong heartbeat and matched their breathing, she liked doing this, it was comforting for her. "I killed them all."

"Thank you for protecting me," Khaos said, he wrapped her with a tight hug, where Zuri sighed comfortably. "They were not here to harm me, they were here to take Silas away."

Just like what Khaos had thought, her idea of someone wanted to kill him, stemmed from her hallucination, where she created a story in her own mind, or the voices in her head that kept telling her that.

"Let's go back." Khaos kissed the top of her head.

"Am I... crazy? I don't know what is real anymore."

Khaos gathered her in his arms and then stood up. He carried her to walk back to the pack house. "Let's get your medicine, you will be fine."

"But, the healer..."

"I found the healer." Khaos looked down and saw her sad eyes. "You will be alright."

"I want to sleep." Zuri snuggled against his chest. "Can you sing for me."

Khaos chuckled with that request. "I don't sing."

"Too bad. I think you have a nice voice."

Their walk back to the pack house was rather peaceful. Zuri fell asleep half way through and when Khaos put her on the tub, she barely opened her eyes, as the alpha helped her to clean herself from the dirt.

Her body didn't improve. You could see her ribs and collarbones protruded. She was too skinny to the point there was hollow on her cheeks.

Khaos had tried to make her stopped vomiting her food, but apparently she kept doing it behind his back. The fact that she could do it whenever she pleased, didn't sit well with him.

Meanwhile, Rhett was still trying to find Zuri until he got news around evening that her sister had returned to the pack house with the alpha, he was the one, who had found her.

"Bring the healer here to make her medicine," Khaos said, he didn't even give Rhett time to breath when he ordered him the moment he stepped into the bedroom, which forced him to leave again before he saw his sister.

There were a lot of things that Khaos wanted to ask that man, but all of that could wait until when Zuri's condition was better.

He stayed the night with Zuri, while the healer gave the medicine to him a few hours later. He spent the entire night to read the remaining of the scriptures and decipher them.

Rhett came with the notes about beauty blood and what type of curses that they put on Zuri, it matched with the one that they gave to the last shell before the annihilation of the lycan.

"Hallucination..." Khaos read the part of the side effect of the curses and then looked at Zuri. The hallucination would get stronger and it would be dangerous for her and people around

her.
