Chapter 103: AN OLD CHAPEL

"How can you come into that conclusion?"

Zuri didn't answer his question, she looked like she was going to lose it. "Where is him? Where is Khaos?" she asked with urgency.

"The alpha is away for a while with the gamma, there is something that they have to check." Gayle was very vague with his answer, because he was not instructed to let Zuri knew.

"No. No. No."

Zuri shook her head, she mumbled something incoherently under her breathe and then shifted into her beast to dash away.

Gayle cursed and shifted into his beast too to follow Zuri, while the other two warriors took care of the dead bodies. He was not sure where Zuri got the idea that someone was here to kill the alpha, but if it came to the alpha's life, he would take it seriously.

The black beast moved so fast and her color blended perfectly with the night, it didn't help that Zuri went through the wood and instead of going to the crowd area, she went even further to the quiet place.

Gayle couldn't mindlink her because she was not part of their pack yet and she didn't bear the alpha's mark, therefore the only thing he could do was to not lost track of her.

In the end, the found the clearing area.

This spot was the weakest spot for River Creek's fortress, because it went directly to the mountain. This part used the topography as the fortress, which meant anyone, who managed to climb through the mountain and went through the arduous forest could enter their pack.

Zuri knew that much about her pack because Rhett taught her that. She knew they came from here because the maple leaves that she saw on the ground near the dead bodies of the warriors.

"Luna, what happened?" Gayle shifted back into his human form.

"There are a lot of people here," Zuri said, she looked mortified, as her eyes wandered in the darkness of the forest, as if someone might jump out of their hiding place.

"Luna, there is no one here...." Gayle looked around too, he sniffed the air, but he couldn't sense anything. It was getting cold now the snow fell.

"They are here. They are here..." Zuri growled at a certain direction and Gayle followed her, he put his focus on the direction that Zuri stared at.

It was too late for him to realize it, but the moment he noticed them, he knew the best way for them to survive was to run!

"Luna, we need to leave. I think they have not yet realized we are here." Gayle took Zuri's hand, but she swatted it away.

"No!" She said firmly. "They are here to kill Khaos, I am going to stay here to kill them all!" The thought that this murder would be justified, excited her.

It was... exhilarating.

Gayle tried to mindlink nearby warriors to come, but he couldn't reach anyone. They were too far from the nearest warrior and this frustrated him, because they were outnumbered.

At the very least, there were seven of them, while he was alone and had to protect the luna as well, that was simply impossible task to do.

"Luna, we need to hide," Gayle said, he tugged her with him to hide behind a tree, this time, his grip was slightly harder, which not allowed Zuri to free herself.

She frowned unhappily. She didn't want to hide. Why would she hide?

"Stay here, luna. The wind don't go to their direction, they will not be able to find us here," Gayle said in low voice. He was very tensed when he saw their figures emerged from the shadow of the trees. Snow still fell and it started to cover the ground.

Gayle tugged Zuri's hand to lower her body, so they wouldn't be able to see them, but instead, Zuri pushed him to the side and shifted into her beast, charged forward to the intruders.

"No!" Gayle felt his heart fell to his knees as his eyes filled with horror when he watched the luna attacked them!

The end of the tunnel was a chapel. This room was huge and based on how far they had walked under the secret tunnel, it was safe to say that it led them out of the River Creek pack. They were not sure where it was, since Rhett didn't want to tell them.

"Here. The scriptures." Rhett went to a platform that looked like pulpit. There was a black lectern in the middle with scriptures on top of it.

Khaos approached the lectern and he immediately recognized the language on the scriptures. Ezra had personally taught him how to read them, since he had to know his root.

Meanwhile, Caiden poked his head over Khaos's shoulder, but because he didn't know how to read the language, he gave up and chose to sit down on one of pews at the right side, while Rhett did the same, but he sat at the left side.

They waited while Khaos read the scriptures, but because there was too many information in it and he had to decipher the meaning behind the complicated words, it would need a long time for him to decipher all the information.

He flipped the scriptures and jumped straight to the part where it explained about the lycan three legacies, especially the part of beauty blood.

He read it carefully and Rhett was right. While the other two legacies were dead items, beauty blood was something that should be nurtured.

The scriptures included many failed attempts on how to nurture the beauty blood, but so far,

none of it had succeeded. Even for the lycan, this kind of power that the three legacies could bring them was akin to myth, but Ezra was adamant this was the only way for them to bring back the old dynasty.

This power was necessary for them to get their revenge on those traitors, who had helped with the massacre of the lycan.
