Chapter 66: Apocalypse 4

For a creature like the Kamacura that relied heavily on speed and relentless attacks, defense was definitely not its forte.

It thrived on using its deadly speed to end its enemies in one shot.

And that was why...

{Agility: 25 + 55}

{Stamina: 23+10}

It was a dangerous gamble. His body was already failing him with every passing second.

He didn’t know how much longer he’d last without enough stamina... And that could potentially lead to a definite death.

But that would come later. Evading the blade was of utmost importance.

Nicholas’s head moved to the side at the very last second, the wind from the blade whistling past his ears as the Kamacura’s blade cut past him.

The kamacura’s eyes widened with surprise, but another attack came.

Nicholas eyes sharpened, almost as though he’d awakened a sixth sense, his body moved before his eyes could even catch the blade.

The blade tore past his side with a blinding motion missing him by mere inches.

Despite throwing all the charm points into his agility stats, his body had yet to have enough time to adapt to the new speed.

The Kamacura continued its relentless assault. Each one missing Nicholas by a breadth. Both moving faster than the eyes could follow.

The gap between each attack and Nicholas body grew wider as his body slowly got used to the speed.

And then, he threw a fist of his own, his punch seemed to push the air as it shot forward.

The Kamacura tilted its head to the side, evading the attack, its massive eyes shifting with a hint of fear as it noticed Nicholas slowly matching its speed.

It leaped backward trying to make a space between them for another attack, as its feet touched the ground, Nicholas was already on it.

With limited stamina, it was his turn for a relentless attack, he couldn’t let the Kamacura off, as his body was already running on borrowed time.

’I have to kill it now’ Nicholas thought, his eyes glinting with a feral glow as he closed in on the Kamacura.

Although surprised by his speed, the Kamacura reacted almost as fast, dodging his punch but the fear in its eyes deepened.

It could feel the wave that followed that punch, a single attack would spell its end.

The Kamacura swept for his side, the blade moving in an attempt to cleave him in half.

Nicholas slipped beneath the blade, his eyes locked on the Kamacura as he sprang forward with a powerful punch.

The Kamacura hastily brought its hands together in an X trying to block the punch.

But that decision happened to be its worst, a smile crossed Nicholas’s face.

He poured all his strength into his arm, and pushed forward with all the force he could muster.

The air ripped apart as the arm came down.

The kamacuras eyes widened in realization as the hands came down like divine judgement.

"It’s over" Nicholas muttered as his fist met the blades.

BOOM!

An explosive sound tore through the air upon impact.

Cracks swiftly spread across the hands of the karamcura like the surface of a broken mirror even before the punch touched them and they exploded into countless fragments, too brittle to take the force of Nicholas’s fist.

It slammed straight into the Kamacura’s chest and its feet left the ground as the force launched it into the air.

The shockwave ripped through its entire body in an instant and with a loud bang, the Kamacura exploded midair, blood and parts sent off in every direction.

Nicholas stood there for a long minute, his fist remained suspended in the air, but he slowly fell on his butt, his breath heavy.

Julie who shot everything from the distance stared with her eyes wide open.

The comments had long since gone quiet as everyone watched the explosive fight, their eyes so focused so they wouldn’t miss even the slightest scene.

As soon as the fight ended the chat exploded.

[AuraNova: *Drops popcorn*]

[Thegreatestscape67: No fucking way!]

[Even_gods_can_die: We need a replay! Get us a replay!]

[....: It’s official, I’m opening a Phantom’s fanpage. I thought I’d seen it all.]

[Readable: Take my money! Give me another fight!]

[Masatoshi_K: Can I get another Kamacura? We need more peak]

Julie was staring at the flooding comments, excitement running through her veins.

’Ahhh!!! Phantom’s definitely going to make me a hit! This was epic! I’m never leaving his side!’ Julie’s eyes turned stars as she saw the comments.

But as she looked at Nicholas, she suddenly saw him slump to the ground.

"Oh shit!" She quickly ran to his side, "Phantom? Are you alright?!" Julie asked her eyes wide with worry, "Don’t die on me we still have so much to achieve" Tears leaked from her eyes as she saw Nicholas in a deathly pale state.

Perhaps the worst she had ever seen him in. Sweat ran down her face as she held him up, "Phantom!"

Nicholas slowly sat up, "I’m alright, but I’ll be down for some time. We need to find somewhere to stay" he said with difficulty, his muscles aching all over.

Julie’s eyes lit up, she turned to the empty store on the side of the streets, "We can stay there!" She said, helping him toward the abandoned shop.

As she entered the store she lowered him against the wall inside.

Nicholas eyes stared out through the ceiling-to-floor window to the empty streets of the town, "I can’t fight like this, let’s just hope we don’t meet any other creatures for now"

Julie felt cold sweat run down her face as she heard Nicholas words, she looked through the window into the empty street.

She had to make sure that no beast found its way to the store or to them.

But one question lingered on the back of her mind.

How long could one hide in an apocalypse and how long would it take for Nicholas to fully recover.

Looking at him, she could tell it wasn’t going to be anytime soon.

----

In another part of the town.

Bodies from several different creatures littered the streets, blood seeping through the cracks on the earth.

But even with all the beasts they had already killed, the numbers seemed endless.

A horde of orcs rushed at the group of heroes, their crude weapons brandished as they made their way forward.

A burst of flames enveloped the orcs in the front.

"Shiieeek!" They let out screams as their bodies were burned to nothingness.

’I can’t keep this up for much longer’ Sweat dripped down Pyron’s face as he burnt down the group of orcs, his energy was tanking at a rapid rate.

He suddenly noticed a shadow hanging above him, as he turned his gaze his eyes met a massive orc bringing its massive club down on him.

The club suddenly disappeared from its arms appearing some meters away.

Turning his gaze he met Vixen, her breaths heavy as she stared at the massive orc.

The orc stood confused at first, but quickly attacked with its bare hand throwing a massive fist at Pyron.

The punch never reached the target.

As the hand moved forward, it bent inward almost as though he’d punched a massive mountain.

SQUASH!

Following it, its head was squeezed into meat paste allowing it to fall lifelessly to the ground.

Nectron stood in the air, his expression heavy, he could see the tired looks on all their faces.

This was nothing like they’d faced before, reading them in fantasies held no weight, but facing these creatures now.

It felt like a nightmare and from the looks of things, it was going to be a long one.
