Chapter 560: Femme Fatale?
When Xu Jiaojiao was leaving, Xu Mumu made a special trip to accompany her to the train station. Joining them was one of their school teachers, although it was a male teacher.
However, seeing how concerned he was about Xu Jiaojiao, Xu Mumu felt quite reassured. Everything that needed to be prepared was ready, and after waving them off, Xu Jiaojiao boarded the train with the teacher.
After Xu Jiaojiao left, Xu Mumu slowly made her way back. Doudou had been taken by Li Caixia to the nearby small shop to play, and Xu Mumu planned to stop by her mother’s place first to say hello. She hadn’t returned to the village’s laboratory in a long time and really missed it; many of her ideas remained unrealized.
Now that she had a child, she couldn’t spend time in the lab as freely as before.
When Xu Mumu arrived, Qian Chunhua was holding the child while Xu Hai was putting on a furry hat for him.
"Mumu, you’re here. Come see how cute Doudou looks," Li Caixia proudly showed off the child to Xu Mumu.
"Mom, you bought him something new again, didn’t you?" Xu Mumu said helplessly, noticing that the hat was brand new and obviously just purchased.
"Your dad bought it. The hat is lined with rabbit fur, so it’s the warmest now that the weather has cooled down," Li Caixia said proudly.
"I thought this hat looked nice, and it would surely suit our Doudou, so I bought it. Too bad there weren’t any rabbit fur scarves; otherwise, he’d be much warmer around the neck," Xu Hai said with a satisfied smile, feeling his taste was much better than his wife’s.
"Yes, it’s nice. Dad has a good eye," Xu Mumu laughed, acknowledging that his taste was indeed slightly better than her mother’s. The little one looked adorable wearing it.
"That’s right. It’s just a pity there was only one hat with rabbit fur there, and who knows what other animal fur would be the warmest. I plan to find more to make a quilted jacket for Doudou when winter arrives, which will surely be cold," Xu Hai mused, thinking about sourcing more soft animal furs.
"Dad, don’t bother with those. The rabbit fur is quite good. We have plenty of rabbits back home, so we’re not lacking in rabbit fur," Xu Mumu quickly dismissed her dad’s random ideas, lest he accidentally sourced fur from some rare animals.
Now that the family wasn’t short on money, many things could be obtained as long as they were willing to pay.
"Ah, that’s true. Next time, I’ll have your third uncle save us the softest pelts," Xu Hai reconsidered, realizing it would be foolish not to use the advantages of their hometown where they had even loaned a room for breeding rabbits.
Unaware of her dad’s plans, Xu Mumu talked with Li Caixia about visiting the village. They’d entrusted the child’s care for a day; Li Caixia and the others had packed enough formula and supplies for the small shop. Xu Mumu felt at ease, knowing her parents would take more meticulous care of the child than she could.
"Alright, don’t worry. We’ll take good care of Doudou for you," Li Caixia, now entirely preoccupied with her grandson, said.
Xu Mumu twitched her mouth, noting her mother seemed to have forgotten about her once she had a grandson.
The little one, spotting his mother, reached out with little ah ah sounds, wanting her to hold him.
However, after spending a while there, Xu Mumu arranged for Zhou Yunhong to take her to the lab in the countryside.
Since she became pregnant, Xu Mumu seldom visited, especially as her belly started to grow.
After more than six months, it remained well-kept, neat, and tidy, gladdening her to see.
Now the village was quite expansive. Ever since Yin Yang and others developed the mountains and built a successful resort, many people now vacationed there. Xu Mumu noted many new homestays, costing just a couple of yuan a night, which resembled the homestays of future times.
The resort built by Yin Yang was not cheap for lodging, whereas these homestays were much more affordable. The scenic spots on the mountain required an entrance fee, offering many engaging activities that attracted numerous vacationers.
Aside from this, the most significant change was probably the local school, filled with students and vibrant. While she didn’t know the specifics, it seemed quite promising from the outside.
"This place has changed so much," Xu Mumu remarked in admiration, feeling almost unrecognizable in just over half a year.
"It has grown a lot, but you’ll get used to it, sister-in-law," Zhou Yunhong said indifferently, having taken part in every development here, so he wasn’t too surprised.
Though he felt quite accomplished to have transformed such a poor village to its current state.
"Alright, I’ll head inside first. Come pick me up tonight," Xu Mumu said, smiling at Zhou Yunhong as she reached the lab.
"No need for me to fetch you tonight; Yang will definitely come himself," Zhou Yunhong said with a smile, knowing how much Yin Yang valued Xu Mumu.
Without Yin Yang’s regard for Xu Mumu, they might have neglected the family head’s wife unintentionally, as the wife’s status was primarily dependent on the master’s attitude.
Among all the Yin family heads in recent generations, Yin Yang valued his wife the most. Previous heads had resulted in internal strife in the residential quarters, so previous wives struggled to have a say.
Taken by surprise, Xu Mumu blushed.
Upon entering the lab, seeing everything familiar around her, she realized how long it’d been since she’d worked on these things, but her hands still felt in tune as she adjusted the equipment.
At the lab, a special lunch delivery arrived from the villa for Xu Mumu, and she comfortably spent the whole day there.
Time flew by, and just as she felt she hadn’t accomplished much, Yin Yang arrived.
"The moment I leave you alone, you run so far away; can’t sit still, can you?" Yin Yang said helplessly to his little wife.
"Of course I can’t sit still. I had so much inspiration while carrying Doudou that it’s already extreme to have waited this long," Xu Mumu said, a bit embarrassed.
"Well, I’ll relocate my office here tomorrow to keep you company," Yin Yang said earnestly, wanting to stay near his little wife.
"Wouldn’t that be too much trouble for you?" Xu Mumu said, feeling even more embarrassed at his willingness to accommodate her.
She wondered if the Yin family might view her as a femme fatale.
