81 Pets and the Half

It took General Ryan some time to warn Dylan before his sister came to fetch him. Dylan’s sister looked quite different from him, but they were somewhat similar one way or another.

Dylan’s sister didn’t even bother with polite greetings and dragged her brother out right after she came in. She simply said that she will pay proper greetings later after taking her brother to see their parents.

“So fast,” Dr. Dall commented.

“Their family is not doing so well because of the recent changes. As you can see, it’s hard for them to keep contact with various branches in many cities, so I’m sure that their family is having a hard time.” General Ryan sighed.

Kyle didn’t say anything.

Dylan might not going to inherit his family business, but it didn’t change the fact that he was part of his family. He will definitely figure out a way to salvage this dire situation of his family.

During this time, they might not be able to do anything.

‘Not that there’s anything urgent to do either.’

“Alright, now that Dylan has been settled, I hope he will not create any trouble.” General Ryan passed a look at his son. “Let’s go. The research facility is going to be happy to see you.”

.....

“Are you sure they’re not going to feel fear?” Kyle snorted.

General Ryan: “...”

He felt that it was really difficult to be the father of this annoying son of his. And knowing the other party’s temper, General Ryan could only sigh.

“Meow.”

Kate tapped Kyle’s hand.

“What is it?” Kyle looked at Kate.

“Meow.”

Kate repeated the same meow, though Kyle didn’t understand any of it. Their language barrier seemed to be very difficult to be crossed.

Kyle looked at Kate’s eyes and then at his father. He rolled his eyes. “Don’t worry about my old man. He’s always like that.”

“...What are you talking about?” General Ryan glared at his son.

Kyle shrugged.

They had been walking for some time and soon reached the research institute. It was located not far from the military base, probably because the two of them had been cooperating quite a lot in the past.

In any case, they could get in easily.

Kyle and Dr. Dall each got a special pass on their own.

“Make another one,” Kyle suddenly said to the person in charge.

“There are only two people, right?” The person in charge was dumbfounded and looked around. He really couldn’t see anyone else who would need the pass.

“This little one need a pass too.” Kyle lifted Kate up.

The person in charge: “...”

He turned to look at General Ryan for instruction, but the other party only looked at Kyle resentfully and helplessly. It seemed that General Ryan had the inkling that his son was treating that little cat so specially.

So special that even a cat needed an access pass into this research facility.

Great.

“Meow?”

Kate was dumbfounded. She turned to look at Kyle and nudged his arm, protesting silently. What would she do with that pass, ah? Not to mention, she couldn’t even wear it on her body because she’s not in her human form.

Uh...

“Be good.” Kyle tapped Kate’s head to stop her from making trouble. He looked at his father and arched his eyebrows.

“Do you want your pet to become a researcher here?” General Ryan asked with difficulty. Only the Heaven knew how much he wanted to smash a fist towards his own son. If not because they were outside and it was inappropriate to beat up his son, General Ryan would have done that a long time ago.

“She’s my assistant.”

General Ryan: “...”

Dr. Dall: “...”

The person in charge: “...”

Not being able to change Kyle’s mind, the person in charge prepared a small special bracelet for Kate. It was made specially with materials that could adjust its size in accordance to the owner.

That way, the bracelet could fit her hand perfectly.

“You’ll follow me whenever I come to the research institute.” Kyle put the bracelet on Kate carefully.

“Meow?”

Kate was rolling her eyes internally, but she allowed Kyle to put the bracelet on her. The bracelet looked quite ordinary aside from the fact that it could be used for identification.

And her identification was...

Little Kitty, Professor Kyle’s Assistant.

Great.

From being Professor Kyle’s student, she ended up becoming his pet and now she turned to be his assistant.

At least, it seemed to be increasing in rank.

One way or another...

“If you’re done, let’s get inside.” General Ryan was already feeling impatient with his son’s nonsense.

“Ok.” Kyle was satisfied and carried Kate in his arm.

“I would like to apply for accommodation here. Also, you better return all my equipment to me.” Dr. Dall glared at Kyle.

“Only after you have already settled your room.”

“Equipment?” General Ryan narrowed his eyes.

“Yes, this bas... I mean, this brat asked that little cat to bring all of my equipment to force me to leave City A.” Dr. Dall was still annoyed when he recalled that little scene when Kyle forced him to go through that method.

General Ryan nodded and looked at Kate meaningfully. He seemed to feel that the cat was somewhat different from other awakened space abilities, but he couldn’t confirm it well. After all, Kyle definitely not going to tell everything to him.

However, he chose to push everything to the back of his mind.

It didn’t matter too much for him whether the cat had high capability or low capabilities.

Nothing was more important than seeing Kyle finally treasuring something and no longer looked like he was going to destroy the world if given the chance.
