155 Escaping to City E

“Anywhere but City E, huh?” Petra snorted. He looked in the direction where Kyle had left and swore to himself that he would eventually surpass Kyle and made him pay for what he had done in the past.

“Yes.”

“Let’s go. There are other cities nearby where we might be able to be lucky enough to find some gems.”

“I know. We can head to...”

Petra’s subordinates followed their leader without saying anything. Even though they were silent, it was clear that they were all feeling the fear from the bottom of their heart when they saw that group killing countless giant mutated animals.

From this distance, they couldn’t see clearly who made the move, but when that fire spread, they could guess that Kyle had reached rank 5. They were all close to Petra and knew the grudges between the two parties.

It was also because they knew that they were worried.

They hoped that their boss would be able to become stronger faster so that he would be able to defeat that big fire devil.

...

.....

It didn’t take long for the car to reach the designated valley. When General Ryan saw that this group of people even take out a car, he really wanted to scold them.

“Can’t you be more low key?” General Ryan glared at his son when he saw Kyle walked out of the passenger seat.

“It’s already low key enough.” Kyle arched his eyebrows. “How many people did you bring out of City B?”

“Around 300,000 to 500,000 people.” General Ryan felt the pain from the bottom of his heart when he thought of the people who were left in City B and chose to follow those two immoral groups.

“Including the soldiers?”

“Excluding the soldiers.” General Ryan glanced at Kyle. “Where do you want to go now? It’s impossible for all of us to stay in this open area.”

“City E.”

“City E? I heard that it had already turned into ruins even before City B is attacked by these giant mutated animals. The cause is similar. The giant mutated animals went on rampage and attacked City E so horribly.”

Kyle arched his eyebrows.

These giant mutated animals were very sensitive to the gems that they even attacked several cities on big rampage? Just how much attraction these gems actually hold for these giant mutated animals?

He didn’t really understand because Kate didn’t show that much attraction and even Marc was a bit perplexed with it. His dog does long for the gem, but not to the point of losing his rationality for it.

“Is there really only the gem there?” Kyle asked, his tone of voice was a bit cold.

General Ryan sighed. He chose not to talk about this matter and instead breached into other things. “There’s actually some development in regards to the matter that you mentioned before. However, I didn’t have the time to tell you before because you have already left.”

Kyle arched his eyebrows. “Which matter?”

“Human disappearance.”

Kate’s ears perked up when she heard what General Ryan said. With reverse healing, aside from some mental fatigue, her power was basically full. She quickly formed a space barrier to not let anyone hear their conversation.

General Ryan was stunned when he saw Kate’s movement. He had already formed a wind barrier around them, but it seemed that the barrier Kate made was even stronger than him. It could even contain his power if she wanted to.

“This is...”

“Space barrier. You can continue speaking.” Kyle knew how Kate could even think that way.

“Alright, I asked the subordinate to check on several reports and surveillances before he found another one that’s very similar to you. There are two cases in fact. One of them is in City A. A man is found kicking a stray cat to make the cat left the place where he’s taking shelter. However, lightning strike and he fell on top of the cat.

Instead of the cat disappearing, the one who disappeared is the man. I have tried to trace the cat’s whereabouts. It’s a bit more difficult, but the report showed that he eventually died in the hand of the barrage of giant mutated rats that came out.

These giant mutated rats seemed to have a lot of grudges against cats and chased after them so miserably.” General Ryan sighed.

“Meow.”

“Anything strange?”

General Ryan looked at Kyle and then at Kate. “Yes. When the cat died, the cat actually transformed into that man who disappeared before. However, because he had died, we had no way to confirm whether he turned into a cat or he had fused into the cat during that period of time.”

Fused into the cat?

Kate was startled and looked at Kyle. Seeing his expression, she had the feeling that this was the real guess he had when he found out about her disappearance that way and learned about the existences of half and pet. There was no way he wouldn’t think that way when everything seemed to point that way.

This made Kate feel extremely conflicted.

Should she tell him the truth?

“Anyway, the other one is a woman in City F. She’s still alive because she fused with the pet of her boyfriend. Her boyfriend is an influential person and had been keeping the cat with him all these time, hoping to find out the whereabouts of his girlfriend through this cat. I was trying to contact her before, but it didn’t seem to be quite successful so far.” General Ryan sighed.

Kyle nodded. He patted Kate in his arm and honestly, even without these two cases, he already had the conjecture within his mind. It was just that he would never reveal it in front of his father nor the others.

At this moment, he didn’t want to destroy the status quo between him and the little cat. As long as she stayed as his cat, he could selfishly confine her by his side and never let her go.

“There’s no hurry.”

General Ryan looked at his son suspiciously. Knowing this brat’s personality, there was no way that Kyle would be willing to let this matter go just like that. He felt that Kyle might already have the answer and only looking for him for confirmation.

But even if he thought that way, he would never say it in front of him.

“Alright, we’ll take a break since it’s going to be dark soon. When it’s dawn, we’ll depart immediately. You can take that space barrier now.”

“Meow.”

As the space barrier disappeared, Kate watched as General Ryan walked away. She then turned to look at Kyle.

She knew that he was curious about her. Was she truly his cat or she was actually his student who borrowed the body of his cat.

But she didn’t know how to answer it.

She wanted to tell him the truth, but a part of her didn’t want to tell him the truth. It was a complicated feeling that Kate didn’t know how to address.

“Let’s take some rest. I’m sure that you’re also tired after breaking through to rank 6.”

“Meow.”

Kate swept the crowd and easily found her parents with the military and other researchers. Probably due to the special status of her father, they still took care of him terribly well.

It’s good.

Even though Kate really wanted to hug her father again, Kate decided to wait until they reached City E and somehow stayed in that place. At that time, she will tell him everything that had happened and apologized for making them worry so much.

She’s truly an unfilial child.

*sigh*

“Kyle! You’re back,” Jake greeted when he saw Kyle coming. “We’ve already prepared your tent. Marc is the one cooking tonight. I didn’t expect that this brat actually knows how to cook and the cooking is even very tasty.”

“Good then.” Kyle sat down and took the roasted meat into a plate to eat. “We’re going to depart tomorrow towards City E.”

“City E?”

“City E is already in ruins right now, but it’s precisely because it’s already in ruins that we can only head there. With the earth and metal awakened, we’ll be able to rebuild the city easily and the giant mutated animals would not head over there anymore.”

“I see.”

“Are they really only chasing after these gems?” Lotte asked. Even she also started to feel doubtful.

“My father is not willing to tell me. After we reach City E, we can kidnap Dr. Dall and ask him a few questions.” Kyle said with the tone as if it was a matter of fact.

The others looked at each other and nodded.

Marc didn’t know who Dr. Dall is, but he felt that this operation might be a bit fun. Anyway, he could guess that they should be friend.

Kate: “...”

She silently lit a candle for Dr. Dall.

At the same time, Dr. Dall who was busy suddenly sneezed. He looked at the sky and wondered whether there was any beautiful girl who finally thought of him.
