133 Eight Floor

Lotte laughed and then brought a small plate of the fried rice. “Come, come, let Big Sister taught you how to use the spoon and eat.”

Kate was speechless when Lotte helped her to hold the spoon. Though, her small hands were indeed quite inconvenient to hold the spoon, which made her drop it a few times before she could find the right way.

After that, she began to eat while Kyle holding the plate in front of her.

Kyle didn’t seem to have any intention to eat as he watched Kate eat the food in front of her slowly. Lotte is a good chef, at least much better than these three men who could only cook basic food.

After a few spoon of food, Kate realized that her stomach was really small. She couldn’t eat the rest of the food.

“Kyle not eat?” Kate looked up and asked Kyle, who was holding the plate in front of her.

“I have eaten and not feel hungry yet.” Kyle patted Kate’s head and put the plate down before lifting her up. “You should never show this form of yours to anyone, understand?”

There were indeed some half in City B, but Kyle had seen their average age were in their twenties. In other words: those who undergone mutation were mostly the adults with the children barely changed.

There was no awakened below the age of 18 that had been reported so far.

.....

If the researchers were to find out that there was actually a half at the age of 4 to 5 years old, it was estimated that they will go crazy trying to find out more about her.

Kyle didn’t want to put Kate through the scientist crazy pursuit.

“Ok.” Kate nodded readily.

“Good girl.”

Kate was at loss when she watched Kyle patted her head tenderly. At this moment, she truly felt that he was treating her as his daughter and this made her feel very very complicated.

She’s already an adult, so she was usually resisting the touch of other people like this.

But because the other party is Kyle, who had taken care of her so much for the past month or two and also her so called owner when she was a little cat, Kate was not resisting that much.

She felt conflicted.

In the end, with a poof, Kate returned back to be a little cat.

“You’re back to be a little cat, huh?” Kyle laughed in a low voice and carried Kate into his embrace.

“Meow.”

Lotte smiled and translated her words for the others, triggering another wave of laugh from Jake and Kyle. Dylan also smiled and seemed to be very comfortable.

They were all still joking around and have fun.

This truly didn’t seem like they were still in the middle of danger and those giant mutated ants could break in at any time.

Alright, not any time.

Jake had reinforced the metals and Kate was also paying attention to those white dots coming from these giant mutated ants. At this moment, Kate had an idea and began to absorb these white dots.

The metal wall couldn’t block it from her anyway.

Soon, the white dots entered Kate’s body, making her feel warm and naturally also sleepy. Kate didn’t care anymore and directly fell asleep.

Kyle looked at his cat and smiled faintly.

“So, are you going to continue keeping her? You can’t forever treat her as your pet when she turns into human like that.” Jake stood up.

“I’ll treat her as if she’s my daughter.” Kyle didn’t think that there was any problem with it.

“... Do you think it’ll be possible for a bachelor like you to have a daughter? And how many people will be chasing after you when you suddenly appeared and brought a kid into a city.” Jake shook his head.

General Ryan has been watched by countless people along with Kyle. The moment they appeared with the little girl, it was estimated that she will be targeted by these people too because they were targeting Kyle.

“I’m not going to send her away.” Kyle looked at Jake coldly.

Even though he knew that it wouldn’t be as easy to stay by his side as a human rather than as a pet, he would never send Little Kitty away. In his opinion, it didn’t matter how hard it would be, he will be the one to protect his little cat.

“I’m just saying.” Jake let out a dry laugh. “Anyway, I’ll be going to take care of the floor. Do you want me to do it here?”

“Yes.”

“Ok.”

Jake placed the two of his hand on the floor and began to control the metal to open up a path for them. It was not easy considering that there was a circuit powered with gems that controlled this building. But after a while, Jake succeeded.

“Enter.”

Swish!

They all jumped down one by one. Thankfully each one of them had some military training. Oh, Jake had to catch Lotte, though. She could use her abilities, but Jake simply stepped forward to catch his girlfriend because he wanted to.

Well, the others left them be.

The eight floor where they landed was the hallway. There were several doors heading in different direction.

“Where should we go?” Jake asked.

Kyle recalled the map that his father showed him and pointed in one direction. “It should be this door.”

“Let me check.” Lotte stepped forward.

Kate could only check whether there was anyone inside or not. In other words, she was a human or living being detector that could never be mistaken. At least, so far, there was nothing that could block her from seeing those white and black dots.

On the other hand, Lotte was capable of using the wind element to make the map of the layout of the other rooms easily. As long as she used a bit of her wind element when she was beside the door, she could ‘see’ the areas in front of her clearly.

“Hmm.” Lotte put her hand on the door and then turned around. “There are several tables inside, but it seems empty.”

“The weapons are all hidden within boxes. Is there a big table in the middle?”

“Yes.”

“Then this is the room.” Kyle turned to Jake.

Jake sighed as he understood that this was using his element ability to open the door again. He put his hand on the door and began to melt these metal around to open up a path enough for them to enter.

“Can’t you just make the key?” Lotte was speechless.

“This area uses electronic key. I don’t think I can ever make something like that.” Jake was aggrieved. He was not exactly good at detailed things. If they wanted to make something like that, it would be better to hand the task to his mother.

Lotte rolled her eyes.

Kyle stepped inside and walked to the large table. He walked around before he saw the faint mark on top of the table and put his hand there. As a researcher, he was also qualified to open this door.

This was one of the reasons why his father allowed him to take this mission. After all, he was once a researcher who participated in the investigation of the appearance of these gems in this planet.

Pi! Pi! Pi!

“Welcome, Researcher Kyle.”

The table then opened and then Kyle pulled a box out. The box was not big, but the others suddenly felt a faint sense of danger. It seemed as if whatever inside the box was dangerous for them.

“What’s inside?” Jake couldn’t help but ask.

“Something dangerous.” Kyle glanced at Jake. “Bombs made out of the gems. There are various bombs powered by the gems. By extracting the energy within the gems, these bombs are made and their sizes are only the size of capsules.”

Jake’s eyes widened. Looking at the box in Kyle’s hand, he finally understood why Kyle said that using this box, they would be able to win the battle.

“Then... we can use it?”

“Technically yes. However, these bombs couldn’t be carried by other elemental energy because it will directly explode.” Kyle sighed. “This is the reason why they’re put in this box that has space ability that can seal them inside.”

The research was incomplete.

They originally wanted to make bullets, but it was hard to fit the elemental energy into the bullets without exploding them. In the end, they made special small capsules that could hold onto the power of the gem.

But even then, the sealing had to be made specifically with the power of space gem.

This was why they couldn’t exactly use the bombs inside freely.

*sigh*

“Then how are we supposed to break through back to the first floor?”

Recalling the fourth and fifth floor that connected to the world outside, they began to feel that their future is a bit bleak.
