113 Absorbing Gems
“These gems might have been formed due to the natural environment and also the condition of the giant mutated animals around it. I don’t think it’ll be possible for us to find any metal or water element in that grains area.” Kyle shook his head.
Jake was disappointed. “Fine, but how are you going to use these gems?”
Kyle was holding the gem in his hand, wondering about that point too.
Kate looked at the gem in her hand and then thought of something. Why not try some methods that she had read about in the other novels before? Human’s creativity was endless and there were a lot of nice ideas there.
With that in mind, Kate looked at her paw and then a claw appeared. The claw was relatively small due to her small body and it seemed that Kyle didn’t bother to trim it again if he had ever done so before.
She then used her claw to create a small wound on top of her paw.
“Little Kitty!” Kyle saw her action and warned the little cat in his arm not to do anything unnecessary.
Kate meowed and the blood dropped to the green gem. It shone slightly and Kate felt that her body felt somewhat hot. After that, she put the gem right on top of her wound and saw the gem melted into her body.
“Meow!”

But afterwards, Kate could feel strange power coursing into her body, causing her to feel dizzy. In the next moment, Kate simply fell asleep.
“Little Kitty?” Kyle was stunned when he saw the gem disappeared into Kate’s wound. And it was then he saw that the wound was healing at visible speed and there was some kind of warm glow around Kate.
Her body was absorbing the power from the gems.
“What’s that?” Jake asked as he parked the car in the small clearing not far from their current location. He could see that there was a warm green glow around the little cat’s body and felt astonished.
“It’s the effect of the gem.” Kyle was trying his best to stay calm and put Kate down on the backseat. He switched seat with Dylan who understand what he wanted and then took out a knife. He made a wound on the back of his hand and put the purple gem there.
As the blood touched the gem, it glowed slightly and then the entire gem melted into Kyle’s body.
“It’s melting with the blood?” Jake was stupefied.
Kyle had no time to care about the other two as he focused on the rampaging power inside his body. If the power inside Kate’s body was warm and fulfilling, then the power inside his body was strong and rampaging.
Lightning was filled with destructive power and Kyle’s lightning ability was stuck at the rank 4. It didn’t manage to advance that much because the number of lightning crystals he could obtain in City B back then was very lacking.
So he focused on the fire and allowed his fire element to reach rank 4 with one minor advancement.
Now, this gem seemed to be giving him endless power in lightning.
But the lightning element was filled with destructive power and Kyle could feel pain all over his body. It was as if the lightning element inside his body was trying to force their way and restructure his body.
It was painful.
“Kyle?” Jake was stunned when he saw Kyle was staying in meditative stance like that. It could be seen that Kyle was in pain because beads of sweat kept on falling on his forehead.
It was a stark contrast with the little cat who slept so peacefully.
“Leave them.” Dylan frowned and then pointed at Jake. “Guard.”
Jake was speechless.
“Can’t you be the first one to guard? I also want to sleep and have some rest after having to drive for so long.”
However, Dylan didn’t care about Jake and simply turned around and fell asleep directly on his seat. Their ability to fall asleep on the spot was amazing due to the intense training they had received in the past.
Jake wanted to scold these to heartless people but he couldn’t do anything but to do his duties and guard.
After a few hours, he woke Dylan up. Dylan then started the car, heading towards City B while guarding the others. It was not like they couldn’t just stay there, but there would be higher chance of meeting with the other groups again.
It would be better to continue leaving.
When it was dawn, Jake woke up and switched driving with Dylan. They continued to drive and around eight in the morning, Kyle finally woke up from his meditative state. He was not sleeping at all during the last few hours because he had to focus on the rampaging energy inside his body.
Turning to look at the cat who was sleeping peacefully, Kyle smiled helplessly. “I was in pain, but you’re so comfortable, huh?”
However, Kyle didn’t bother with Kate and looked at these two. Seeing that they were quite far away from their original location, he nodded. “It seems that we’ll be able to reach City B this evening.”
“Oh, you’re finally up, Kyle.”
“I was not sleeping. However, these gems seem to contain the purest energy of these power that we awakened. I’m not sure how many minor advancements I make in this rank 4 of lightning ability.” Kyle was not entirely sure how strong he was.
However, he knew that he hadn’t reached rank 5 because he only felt that he was slightly stronger in terms of lightning ability and his foundation that was so fast back then was being stabilized.
By now, Kyle guessed that he could definitely advance faster in the lightning ability more than his fire ability.
“I see. Next, let’s find one that suited us too?” Jake’s eyes lit up.
“Sure, we’ll be taking mission again later. For now, I need to catch up some sleep.” Kyle yawned and leaned back. After battling his own body for a long time, Kyle was very tired.
Soon, he fell asleep.
Jake was speechless. “I was about to ask him to switch with me. But I guess when it’s our turn, he’ll be the one to guard us, huh?”
“Yes.” Dylan nodded.
However, they would need to pick specific mission if they wanted to find more of these gems. After all, they were not sure where these gems were located and how to find them and could only try to do some deduction based on the terrains of the mission’s location in the future.
When it was lunch time, they had to stop because the gasoline was almost up. They could also see the City B in the distance along with many other groups who were rushing to head into City B.
“Has Little Kitty wake up?”
“Not yet.” Dylan passed a look at the little cat behind and guessed that for such a small body, it would take more time to absorb the entire energy from that gem. Kyle was faster because he was also controlling the energy while being awake.
On the other hand, Kate was sleeping. This energy had to do the work by themselves inside her body to mix together.
Time passed quietly.
Kate opened her eyes and stretched her small body lightly. She felt so comfortable. It has been such a long time since she slept so comfortably like that. Looking around, she could see that Kyle was sleeping while Jake and Dylan were at the front.
“Meow?”
Kate was confused and then leapt up to the middle of the seat. She looked at the two people there and took out dried food for them to eat along with a water bottle.
“Oh, you’re finally awake, Little Kitty!” Jake was pleasantly surprised. “Ah! Thank you for the food. But it will be better if you can fill the gasoline instead.”
“Meow?”
Focusing on the tank, Kate simply filled more of the gasoline. She then looked at the parameter on the driver’s area and only stopped when it showed full. After that, she leapt back to the back while Jake and Dylan were both eating.
“Meow?”
“He’s sleeping because of absorbing the gem like what you did. It seems that because of the difference in properties of the gem, he had a hard time to absorb them,” Jake explained.
Kate nodded and then prodded Kyle’s hand lightly before using it as her pillow. She actually wanted Kyle to be awake and tell her more things, but it didn’t seem to be possible in the slightest bit.
After a while, Jake and Dylan finished eating, so they continued their way to City B.
There were more people outside, but they didn’t pay attention to them in the slightest bit. Those survivors and other mercenaries groups would definitely try to head towards the nearest city from them.
City B had become the majority’s choice mostly because of the strong military power here.
