Chapter 55 – Blissful Life of the Female Scholar

Several decades have passed since the former ruined kingdom had started operating as a country. The Republic of the Sages has become a great magitech superpower, where the greatest intellectuals all over the world gather.

Today as well, various studies are continuing.

Today as well, intellectuals from all around the world immigrate to the Republic of the Sages seeking knowledge of the latest magical techniques.

Today as well, merchants from all around the world gather in search of cutting edge magical tools.

The female scholar who opened the doors of this sage’s country has grown old at this time. Her once blonde hair is now a silvery grey, and her prided fluffy tail has lost its brilliance, with fur now faded.

She lies quietly in the hospital bed. A lot of people gather around her, some of them weeping. They are her children, her grandchildren, and her friends.

She continued her research in this land of the sages after spreading the truth to the world. During her research, she fell in love with a male researcher, married and had a child. The child was adorable, and when they grew up they realized that they had a talent for magical research.

The old woman was happy.

The old woman was content.

A world where she could immerse herself in her favorite research, all while surrounded by a warm family and close friends.

She recollected those joyous times spent with the elephant demon and the homunculus girl.

Her life was almost about to come to an end.

An adorable homunculus girl snuggles up beside the bed while shedding large tears. The elephant demon, locked in a cage so that it won’t go wind, is anxiously looking into the building through the window,

The scholar is powerless to get out of the bed. No, she couldn’t even list her arm anymore.

She speaks a line of strained words to the homunculus girl.

「By the way… there was still… high quality liquor left.

Finally… just a drink… won’t you help me drink it?」

The girl wipes her tears and hurriedly brings the scholar’s favorite luxury liquor. She did not carry a glass cup.

She puts the high quality sake in her mouth and rests her lips on the scholar’s. The girl pours the liquor into the scholar’s mouth little by little.

.The scholar swallows the fine liquor she was given mouth to mouth with a small noise. When the girl separates, the old scholar had a face of bliss, and mutters as if to herself,

「… fwah… this liquor… so sweet… so good… it tastes so good」

Leaving behind those parting words, the scholar slowly closes her eyelids.

Upon her death, the homunculus girl, the elephant demon, and all the people living in this land of the sages mourned the death of this scholar.

And so, the happy life of the woman who freed people from the horror of demons, the one who would later be called the, “Greatest Sage in Human History,” came to an end.
