Huo Shen’s Time Of The Month

Through the car window, An Xiaowan stared at his sudden change in demeanor. She watched him hastily enter the villa and felt perplexed about what was going on.

That elegant and exceptional back view exuded an aura of desolation. It was rather discomforting.

What an unpredictable man.

She shrugged her shoulders, draped the towel over herself, and got out of the car.

Assistant Luo was concerned when he saw that she looked a little off-color. “Ms. An, please don’t be alarmed. It will just be a little… different these coming few days, so expect that Mr. Huo will not be in the best of moods.”

These few days?

The corner of An Xiaowan’s mouth curled upwards into a wry smile. Thoughtfully, she said, “I see… You mean the few days that come every month?”

Assistant Luo nodded his head without thinking. “Not really every month… Ohh…”

Assistant Luo suddenly paused. He looked up and promptly shut his mouth when he met her eyes.

He can never let Young Master Huo find out that An Xiaowan misunderstood his words and thought Huo Shen also had some cycle every month like a woman!

An Xiaowan patted him on the shoulder with a knowing look before she walked in.

Back at the villa.

After showering and changing into her sleeping robes, An Xiaowan stood in the second-floor corridor, waiting outside Huo Shen’s room, hesitating.

After much contemplation, she eventually decided to knock on Huo Shen’s room door.

Knock knock.

There was no response.

An Xiaowan withdrew her hand happily, assuming she was not needed tonight.

She calmly returned to the adjacent room, feeling relieved.

However, at midnight, she suddenly woke up to a loud noise.

She patted her chest to ease the unnerving feeling as she looked over at the wall separating Huo Shen’s room from hers.

The sound insulation in the villa was usually quite good, but just now, An Xiaowan heard it so clearly. It was as if something crashed hard on the ground.

She frowned slightly, and suddenly she again heard something hit the ground, and then another sound, this time it as if something was smashed to pieces.

An Xiaowan instantly got up and walked out of the room, but then paused in the corridor momentarily.

After a while, she could not resist anymore and knocked on his door again.

There was no response from the other side of the door, but she could still hear continuous sounds of books falling on the floor.

An Xiaowan’s hands tightened, then she attempted to turn the doorknob.

The door was locked from the inside.

When they heard the commotion, Assistant Luo and the butler also hurriedly came up.

An Xiaowan asked them anxiously, “Do you have the key? Something’s wrong with Huo Shen.”

Assistant Luo hesitated, but then the butler suddenly spoke, “Ms. An, it’s better if you don’t go in at this time, in case you get implicated.”

The butler then brought out a thermos flask and gently advised her. “At this time, the best way to deal with this is to wait for Young Master Huo to calm down. After that, you may send this flask of soup in.” He paused for a while, and then continued again, “Of course, you may also pretend as if you didn’t hear a thing and go back to continue your sleep.”

An Xiaowan pursed her lips and then took the hot water flask from the butler.

Huo Shen saved her life today. Even if she had to wait here for a long time, how will that matter to her?

Assistant Luo and the butler went back downstairs, but nobody could fall asleep.

An Xiaowan was only wearing her sleeping robe as she hugged the hot water flask. She continued walking back-and-forth for a while, but when she got tired, she simply leaned against the door to relax a bit.

Time ticked away, and soon it was 3 am.

The corridor was cold in the wee hours. An Xiaowan was so tired that she started to yawn, and soon her body naturally curled up.

Suddenly, the door was opened from inside the room.

In her slumber, An Xiaowan stumbled and fell backward. She was startled, and her eyes jerked open.

Only a faint ray of moonlight was seen, casting across his brows.

Those dark eyes were like an abyss, brimming with nothing but isolation and chill. An Xiaowan’s heart tightened at this sight.

“Huo…”

Huo Shen’s gaze was locked upon her. He was like a famished beast who pounced fiercely at his prey to fill his insatiable appetite.

~~

An Xiaowan had never seen Huo Shen look so terrifying before.

A deep fear suddenly arose in her heart, and she felt suffocated.

Her instincts told her to back away from this situation immediately.

But before she could say anything, Huo Shen had locked her tightly in his embrace.

Without turning around, he stretched out his leg and kicked the door behind him shut. He threw her wildly on his large bed.

“You…” An Xiaowan suddenly stopped speaking when she met Huo Shen’s peculiar gaze.

The thermal flask she was holding slipped out of her hand and rolled across the floor.

Watching Huo Shen close in on her menacingly, her body stiffened as she held her breath.

Huo Shen’s face, hidden in the shadows, was slowly moving closer. His thin lips moved slightly, and his deep and hoarse voice was heard, “You should not have come.”

An Xiaowan’s palms were sweating.

Although she was shaking her head, her arms subconsciously stretched out and slipped themselves under Huo Shen’s arms, and encircled his terrifyingly cold body.

It was so cold…

Huo Shen’s body was hard and freezing cold, like a metal thrown into a deep glacier.

An Xiaowan wanted to immediately let go of him and get away when she felt the frosty chill on his body.

But she did not do so.

Her mind went blank, but she gently patted Huo Shen’s back.

As if she were comforting him.

An Xiaowan did not say anything. But at that moment, it seemed better to remain silent.

The air was still and quiet.

An Xiaowan was still feeling frightened.

But as time ticked by, she finally felt some warmth from the man in her arms. His stiff body gradually softened up.

Huo Shen’s terrifying aura and aggression dissipated slowly.

An Xiaowan breathed a sigh of relief. But at the next moment, she suddenly felt a huge weight on top of her, sinking her into the bed.

She looked up and was shocked to find that Huo Shen had actually fallen asleep!

She was suffocating under his weight and wanted to push him off, but realized that even when he was asleep, his arms still locked her in a tight embrace, very tightly.

There was no way to pry open his fingers, and it was too tight to slip out. She was trapped.

When An Xiaowan finally came to a conscious awareness of her predicament, she winced and silently lamented in her mind.

If she had known this would happen, she would not have brought the soup in… It was the housekeeper’s fault for coming up with this rotten idea!

Then again, Huo Shen was behaving out of character tonight.

He was totally out of control earlier on, not at all like his usually pensive and introverted behavior.

Could it be… this was uncle?

An Xiaowan was emersed deep in her thoughts.

It was getting late, and An Xiaowan started to feel drowsy.

She gradually got accustomed to the weight on her. Soon, she couldn’t keep her eyes open any longer and fell asleep.

Downstairs, Assistant Luo was anxiously monitoring the situation upstairs. The last thing they saw was Huo Shen dragging An Xiaowan into the room, and their hearts twisted into a knot.

10 minutes passed… then 20 minutes… slowly it was half an hour since they waited.

It was silent in the master bedroom.

Miraculously, An Xiaowan did not get kicked out!

Assistant Luo and the housekeeper could not contain the shock on their faces.

“This is the first time that anyone who got close to Young Master Huo at this hour had been able to survive.”

“But it isn’t morning yet… Let’s hope Ms. An is still alive tomorrow morning.”

The two men lit the candles and finally retreated for the night.

Time continued to tick.

The next day, An Xiaowan woke up from her slumber, feeling the tingling sensation because of numbness in her arms.

She groaned in pain and immediately tried to push him off.

Little did she expect that the moment she moved, even though his eyes have not yet opened, the man lying on her already woke up from his sleep.

She was reminded of Huo Shen’s terrifying peculiarities in the mornings.

An Xiaowan suddenly stopped moving at this thought.

Nevertheless, the sleeping lion still awoke.

When she recalled how Huo Shen looked the night before, she still felt fear lingering in her heart, and she involuntarily shuddered.

His long eyes narrowed. His handsome face had a far-off and dreamy look in the morning, softening the sharp contours of his face.

“You have the guts.”

Huo Shen’s voice was hoarse and deep, and his tone was magnetic. As he spoke, his hands suddenly started to caress An Xiaowan’s neck.
