Chapter 630 Gaufrid [2]

Gaufrid and Saurtem never spoke but they felt a connection to each other.

Their stories were similar.

Pushed by Ancestor who insisted that telling history could help ease pain, Gaufrid told his story to his 2 new companions as Ancestor also told Saurtem's story which made these 2 beasts resonate with each other.

They never spoke once to each other but they felt closer than before.

Somehow, staying around Ancestor eased their pain.

This old Mandrill's cheerful smile despite their terrible situation and fate brought some much-needed light into their lives that was plunged into darkness.

It was already night in the Beast Arena.

By now, Gaufrid felt better than he ever did the whole day after he lost his family. He also learned that Ancestor was the one who healed him.

According to Ancestor, he was a Grade D beast with a water affinity that was oriented towards healing. The beast tamer didn't know.

Ancestor saved Gaufrid or judging from the injuries that he sustained in his 10th arena duel; he should be dead by now already.

That night, as the glow of the red moon illuminated them, Ancestor for the first time was no longer using a cheerful voice as he spoke again.

The smile remained on his face but this time, it could not hide the pain.

"The life of a beast…," He first muttered to himself.

"Gaufrid, Saurtem…," Though he tried to hide it behind his smile like usual, he could not this time as tears welled up in his eyes. "This is the life of a beast".

"Today marks my 10th year stuck in this Beast Arena".

"…"

"I've killed over a thousand brothers during this time".

"Why?" This question seemed like he was rather throwing it at himself.

"Just so I can survive". His voice hid deep pain and disappointment.

"During these 10 years, I saw countless beasts come and die in this beast arena, none of them was ever released no matter how many brothers they killed".

"That was when it dawned on me".

"Our lives are insignificant".

"Our lives are worthless before them".

"To those so-called sentient races, all we are is entertainment". As he said this, his voice was laced with deep sadness and hatred.

"I always dreamt of the day that I would escape out of this beast arena, kill the beast tamer and finally embark on my dream".

"Guafrid, Saurtem, do you know what my dream is?" He looked at them.

They focused, already drawn into his words.

"My dream is a world where beasts are no longer suffering".

"A world where beasts are no longer being oppressed".

"My dream is the liberation of all beasts".

"Unfortunately, my dream is impossible without violence and the universe being cruel enough made me only able to heal people".

"I am a Grade D Beast, the same grade with the beast tamer but I won't even last 3 seconds against him in battle before dying".

"That is the hurtful fate that the universe gave me".

"I could never do it so I embarked on a new goal of taking others in, building them to become the liberator that would liberate the beast race".

"For years, I've been trying my best".

"I managed to save some like you who already lost all will to live over the years and gave them motivation to live again".

"My only motivation to live right now is the world of beast freedom".

"A beast empire…, that is my only motivation".

The Mandrill sighed. "Reality is cruel though".

"We're suffering does not mean the world will help us".

"The world is a cruel one".

"All the liberators that I took on my wing grew stronger and later tried to escape from the beast arena yet every single time, they were killed by the beast tamer". This Mandrill laughed and only pain was felt from it.

He looked at his 2 companions in the cage. "If the both of you are willing, I want you both to be the last liberators that I take in".

"…" None of them said a word.

The Mandrill looked at another side. "After I discovered my goal, I promised myself that I won't last more than 10 years inside here".

"Today marks my 10 years of being stuck here".

As he said these words, pain was felt from it.

His eyes became red. "I don't intend to go back on my words".

He looked at the Demonic Lion. "Gaufrid, I watched all your battles in the arena, you have something special in you".

"This is not even your combat strength".

"My spirit of liberation tells me that you have something even more special in you, something that none of my other liberators had".

"This is why I want to gamble on you".

"…"

Throughout, Gaufrid never said a word.

Ancestor's presence may have eased his pain a bit but he could not get over it immediately. Afterall, it was not even a day since his family was massacred.

Though he said nothing, he had to admit that his blood boiled.

Ancestor's story told him a bitter truth.

'I am not the first beast to face this cruel world nor shall I be the last'.

'Until someone becomes brave enough to stop the cycle, it'll go on'.

That night, Gaufrid developed his hot-blooded nature and unreconcilable hatred against the sentient races that was born from his trauma.

Despite all this, he never replied to Ancestor.

Ancestor did not seem to care though as he continued. "5 years ago, when I saw my time going and as my liberators kept on failing, I came up with a plan".

"I have a water affinity; my vitality is more than normal beasts".

"I came up with a theory and worked towards it".

"A year ago, I achieved my goal".

"I was able to create an ability that will enable me to transfer all my energy, experience, and vitality into another beast".

"The only penalty is that I would die 100% in the process".

The 2 other beasts in this cage looked at him at the same time on hearing this, he continued. "I have been preparing this ability for today".

"I have no intentions of living past today".

"I have no intentions of fighting in the arena tomorrow".

"Gaufrid…, I don't know what your special talent is but I'm willing to bet on it. I will give you my vitality and my life".

"Be the liberator that I could never be".

"Hate the sentient races on my behalf".

"Kill them for me".

"And lastly, save all our brothers that are suffering".

Bzzz!

Gaufrid could not react, everything happened so fast.

The next moment, white light poured into his body even as Ancestor became a dry husk. As the light of life left his eyes, Ancestor said his last words.

"They know when a beast dies".

"The security in the cage is lax in the night".

"2 guards will come to check on the beast that died".

"That is your best chance to escape".

"Check under my sitting spot, hidden in it is the map of the beast arena".

And Ancestor gave up the ghost.

"…!" Gaufrid and Saurtem were stunned.

Gaufrid felt strange as the foreign energy moved in his body but he did not pay attention to it, he only paid attention to Ancestor as the words that this beast said kept on reverberating in his head.

'This is the life of a beast…,' He heard Ancestor's voice in his head.

Click!

The door to the cage opened the next moment as 2 Nak warriors entered.

Gaufrid looked at Saurtem once before pouncing at them.

The 2 guards were torn to bits.

That night, they kickstarted their escape but just 10 minutes later, the beast tamer caught them.

"Hehe," He chuckled. "The guts to try escaping from my hell".

"You guys must think you're the demons of hell, huh?"

"You're my entertainment!" He roared.

"How dare you try to escape?!"

"Now, let me show you who the true king of hell is".

John started by torturing Saurtem.

Immobilized, as he witnessed this, Gaufrid felt rage bubbling in his mind. 'I hate Naks!' He growled hatefully in his mind.

'I hate Ackermanns!'

'I hate Humans!'

Amid his rage, he heard it again.

'This is the life of a beast…,' He heard ancestor's voice again.

And this was what did it as Gaufrid's eyes glowed red in immense rage the next moment as he glared at all the Nak warriors present.

"Supreme Talent: Beast- The Greatest Showman!"

BZZZ!

As a mysterious golden energy erupted, everyone fainted except the red-eyed raging Gaufrid and a shocked and traumatized Saurtem.

Gaufrid grabbed Saurtem and charged out of the beast arena.

That night kickstarted the dream of the Beast Coalition.
