Commander Knock led the vanguard squad out the next morning.
Since their location was no longer far from Freljord territory, they noticed the tremors as soon as the Titans started marching towards the Freljord settlement.
Protecting the Freljord tribe from annihilation was one of the main missions of the Vanguard squad apart from their other original main mission.
As a squad consisting of the best 20 warriors from each of the 8 major tribes of the Great Desert, making it 160 warriors, it was a great force.

The Freljord tribe warriors were already giving their all to hold their last stand against the Titans to buy enough time for their tribesmen to evacuate.
Commander Knock and Drog may have fought the previous day over the position of the Commander but there was no doubt that they were both one of the best warriors in the vanguard squad.

"Every other unit, cooperate to annihilate the other Titans".

Knock unsheathed his sword and led the attack on the Titans.
Behind Aegon, his unit captain, Altan sprinted with his war sickle tightly in his grasp as they charged towards the 3 Warrior Titans.
On seeing them from afar, morale among the Freljord warriors rose.
"Reinforcement is here brothers!"
"Don't despair, we shall annihilate the Titans!"
Even as they sprinted towards the 3 powerful Titans that seemed unstoppable, Knock was attentive as he carefully observed them.
Before they got close, he arrived at a tactic to bring all 3 of them down.
"All rangers, focus on restricting their movements".
"All protector Pugilists, don't focus on their head, just focus on dealing lethal damage to incapacitate mostly its legs".
"Leave the heads to the Elementalists".
"Only Elementalists who have mastered the Intermediate Fire Control knowledge and Intermediate Fire Emission class knowledge should follow Shogun's lead, put emphasis on creating fiery spears".
All the warriors unconditionally obeyed the orders of their Commander.
Alongside the other Pugilists, Altan charged behind Aegon, Drog, and Knock as they soon closed the distance and clashed against the 3 Titans.
Pugilists were fierce combatants, that was the only thing that they were good at and in this battlefield led by Knock, they showcased their specialty.
They could not deal AOE damage like the Elementalists but against the Titans, Pugilists who could concentrate all of their power on a single attack were the perfect opponents to defeat them.

The sounds reverberated like exploding dominoes.
Of course, the Warrior Titans retaliated but they were now fighting against the cream of the top among all the warriors of the 8 major tribes.
In battle, these fierce desertmen were unstoppable.
In no time, one of the Warrior Titans was crippled as it's left leg caved in after being smashed by one of Knock's signature power fist smash.
Instantly after the Warrior Titan wobbled, the Elementalists jumped in.
With the Warrior Titans down, the battle became easier.
Charging towards the remaining Civilian Titans, the Vanguard Squad proved why they were chosen as they slaughtered the Civilian Titans.
For 6 hours, it seemed like the Titans would not seize invading as they kept on coming even as they were slaughtered but on the 7th hour, everything stopped.
For the first time since the threat of the Titans reached the first major tribe settlement, a victory was won against the Titans.
The remaining Titans escaped, running back into the ancient ruins.
They won the battle, but they could not celebrate. Hundreds of brave warriors of the Freljord tribe were sacrificed to get this victory.
The 3 Commanders of the Freljord tribe went to thank the Commander of the Vanguard Squad before taking him to their elder's pyramid.
"Thank you, young Commander". The elders expressed their gratitude.
Knock acknowledged it before asking. "What will you do? From the just concluded battle, I have a hunch that the Titans are yet to show all their cards".
"We know that too". The oldest elder sighed. "Our tribe head went to negotiate with the Drago Celeste tribe, we just got news from him".
"For the short term, the Drago Celeste tribe agrees to accommodate our civilians". The elder sighed. "We can't fight the Titans alone".
The elder looked at Knock. "What of you, young Commander?"
"Our mission is barely starting, we intend to enter deep into Titan territory".
"Oh, ok". The elder stood up the next moment before bringing a book. "This is a compilation of everything that we learned about the Titans during the past 2 days of battle and weeks of information gathering by our rangers".
Knock took the book and took a glance at the title. "Thank you elder, this book will help us in our mission a lot".
"No need to thank me". The elder smiled. "It's the Titans you're fighting after all, good luck young Commander".
"You too old man".
Knock stood up and left to plan with his warriors.
