Chapter Ch40.1 - He said that he was a big fan of your livestream.

Edited by Dievtus and Noks

Nightclub drinking games were nothing else except: passing cards with your mouth, popping balloons using your bodies, and doing both activities while drinking together. The more exciting these activities were, the more lively the atmosphere would become. When strangers, or men and women with ambiguous relationships, were packed so closely together, the scene’s atmosphere would grow even more stimulating.

The little anchor looked particularly silly, not knowing how to refuse. From the looks of it, he was about to agree.

Yi Chen was just worried that if he started dating so early, it would interfere with his regular job.

As he thought this, Yi Chen put his wine glass on the table and sent an emoticon to the other party.

Yu Yan also had this emoticon pack downloaded. It was a little white and orange domestic shorthair cat with three big question marks over its head.

Little Anchor: At a nightclub.

1: With your girlfriend?

Yu Yan was bewildered. What was going on today? Why was everyone asking that question?

Little Anchor: No…. Class reunion party.

1: When will you be back?

Little Anchor: I’ll be back soon. Have you returned from your business trip?

1: Almost.

Yu Yan was just about to reply when he heard the person next to him ask again, “Is that okay?”

Yu Yan looked up. “Ah… I’m afraid I can’t. I have to go after a bit.”

“Go?” The young man beside him heard him and asked, “Why do you need to hurry back so quickly? The nightclub’s event has just started. We should all hang out together before leaving. Oh right, when are you free these next few days? Us bros should go to an Internet cafe and play some 5v5s. Rediscover the feelings of youth.”

A girl swatted him. “What feelings of youth? We’re still young.”

Li Hang, who had been paying attention to the people seated on the booth’s edge seats since the beginning, caught some of the words. He raised his voice. “Who’s leaving?”

“Xiao Yan.”

“In such a hurry?” After Li Hang said that, he let out a statement as if he understood. “Oh, you need to go back to start livestreaming ba?”

As soon as he said that, everyone else looked at Yu Yan.

After all, being an anchor and livestreaming was an emerging industry. Scandals about the anchor industry popped up on the Internet every other day, so everyone was full of curiosity.

Yu Yan didn’t care at all. He just let out a faint “en” sound.

Suddenly someone asked, “Xiao Yan, how long have you been livestreaming? Online, people say that female anchors sell their bodies—a few thousand to add them on WeChat and tens of thousands for a night. Is any of that true ah?”

“Don’t know.” Yu Yan answered, “I’ve never encountered this type of thing.”

“Of course it’s true ah!” Li Hang laughed,”Anchors ma, none of them actually have any skills. Bluntly speaking, they’re selling themselves. Female anchors sell their bodies while male anchors sell themselves for laughs bei. I used to know a male anchor who, after I just threw him a few hundred yuan worth of gifts, called me daddy in the stream. It was so funny.”

As he finished saying that, he leisurely added, “Xiao Yan, I’m just casually talking ah—it’s just the truth. I’m not intentionally targeting you with these words.”

The others at the table just looked at each other in dismay, and for a moment, no one spoke.

Although Yu Yan had a good temper and everyone had liked him since junior high school, Li Hang was from a well-to-do family; the nightclub they were at today was owned by his distant relatives. Tonight, Li Hang had even driven over here in a baby Benz. Almost all of them had the mentality of holding onto his thigh and not provoking him. No one was willing to step up to ease the tense atmosphere.

Yu Yan just silently kept holding his glass. Li Hang laughed, “Don’t just be silent. Are you angry? We’re just making a joke between classmates…”

He had already accurately determined the other side’s temperament. He felt that Yu Yan could only sit there and be needled by him at will. After all, he had made a lot of sarcastic remarks in junior high school, and the other party had never talked back.

Just as Chen Min was about to take the risk of getting up to change the topic, Yu Yan suddenly laughed.

“I’m not angry. I’m just a bit amazed.”

Li Hang asked, “What are you amazed about?”

“Amazed that your inner qualities and upbringing actually haven’t improved with your age at all.”

“…”

This time, even the oblivious girl beside Yu Yan was gaping at him.

Li Hang had only drunk a bit of alcohol by this time, but his face turned red as he retorted, “I have no inner quality and upbringing, but you, who only graduated from junior high school and played games at Internet cafes every day, has inner quality and upbringing?”

Yu Yan looked much calmer than Li Hang. “Inner quality and upbringing have nothing to do with formal education. I don’t know if anyone in the anchor industry does what you have said they do, but, I do know that most anchors earn money by relying on their own skills and time; unlike you. Look at the assets you have. Which one of them wasn’t given to you by your parents? Even now, you haven’t started working yet, ba?”

Li Hang sneered. “Yes ah, so what? Is it my fault that my family is wealthy? Don’t be jealous.”

“Your family being wealthy is just your advantage.” Yu Yan paused and then continued, “But I don’t think that you have the right to mock those who rely on their own skills to make a living.”

“Besides, are you sure it was me that played games at Internet cafes every day? Not only has your character not improved, but your memory has also deteriorated?”

Now that he mentioned it, everyone else remembered.

Their junior high school had a lot of underground Internet cafes next to it. Most of the boys in the class would skip computer and physical education classes to go play online, and Yu Yan was one of them.

But Li Hang was different, he didn’t just skip classes, he completely skipped school. Sometimes, his classmates wouldn’t see him for several days of the week; his grades were always at the bottom of the pack. It wasn’t until their junior year of junior high school, when Li Hang’s parents got called in, that Li Hang resumed the normal student life.

Also, from the beginning of their junior year, Li Hang had inexplicably begun to hate Yu Yan. He had started dishing out petty criticisms to him every other day.

Li Hang stood up angrily. “What the fuck do you mean?”

Chen Min hurriedly got up and stopped him. “Okay okay, we’re all classmates here. What’s there to argue about after all these years? Xiao Yan, he just drank a bit too much, so don’t argue with him…”

Yu Yan didn’t bother listening to Chen Min. “Exactly what I said.”

Li Hang sneered at him again. “How am I not qualified to talk about them? Let me tell you something, who do you think is responsible for you being able to sit here to talk back to me today—do you know how much money a booth here usually costs? Who else could possibly be in the position to reserve this booth?”

As soon as his words came out, everyone else’s expressions immediately turned a little complicated.

The girl beside Yu Yan frowned. “What are you suggesting Li Hang? Although we’re all from ordinary families, it’s not like we can’t afford a single booth.”

The young man at the other end of the booth, who just couldn’t keep watching anymore, also spoke up, “Yeah. This booth’s price is at most four figures, who can’t afford that ah?”

Li Hang paused. He also thought that he had been too impulsive and had blurted out his true feelings.

He took the cup of boiled water that Chen Min had offered and took a sip. “No, I meant that it takes a lot of effort to get a booth here.”

“I’ll split the cost of drinks with you. If you think this booth is yours, I can also spend money to get several similar booths.” Yu Yan said, “Don’t be so deliberately ambiguous.”

“That’s right.” Yu Yan’s former junior high school dormitory monitor couldn’t help opening his mouth, “It was you who wanted us to come to this nightclub. At first, we were going to just eat at a restaurant. Li Hang, your attitude right now doesn’t look good.”

Li Hang had just said something wrong, and now, even Chen Min was trying to calm him down.

He gritted his teeth and firmly sank back into his seat. “I’m just kidding. Alright, drink, drink. I’ve specially asked the people here to prepare some good alcohol; I’ll pay for it. You guys don’t need to act polite to me later.”

Yi Chen was frowning when he felt his phone vibrate. He glanced at the screen and couldn’t help chuckling.

Little Anchor: Really? Shall I wait for you?

This tone didn’t seem like a person who had just been in a quarrel at all.

Yi Ran lost another round of the finger-guessing game. After drinking all the alcohol in his glass, he turned around and asked, “Ge, what are you laughing at ah?”

Just as Yi Ran finished asking that, a manly voice suddenly sounded from beside him, “Xiao Yan, where are you going? You can’t possibly be heading out, ba?!”

Yi Ran turned his head to take a look and saw the young man who was rising from the sofa. “No. Just going to the toilet.”

He stared at the other person for more than ten seconds, going to the extent of even craning his neck forward. Then, he excitedly slapped the sofa. “Ge! Isn’t that fucking StarTV’s…”

“Shut up.” Yi Chen interrupted him.

After Yu Yan walked further away, Yi Ran spoke again, “Really! It must be him. He looks exactly the same as he does in his webcam video! Ge, did you see him?”

Yi Chen raised his eyebrows and gave him a slightly cold look.

Yi Ran immediately understood. Based on his attitude, his Ge had probably discovered this 800 years ago.

“Why didn’t you tell me when you saw him? Ah Ge, you should let me go say hello to him. To coincidentally bump into him here, we must really be fated to meet.”

Yi Chen remained motionless. “Sit.”

After a while, he raised his hand and crooked a finger at the nightclub’s manager who had been wandering around their booth.

The manager flew over to Yi Chen’s side and asked, “What can I do for you, Sir?”

Juurensha: These classmates are useless (Lu Xiuhe would have been in Li Hang’s face within 3 seconds). Shorter split for the chapter, but lots of things happened, and the next part will be long!
