Chapter 38: Chapter 38: Holly Sinclair is Mrs. Sterling, Not Someone to Be Bullied by Just Anyone

Tristan Sterling took the tablet.

The video started normally, but after a few seconds, the screen went black.

"The surveillance camera broke right when Miss Sinclair was locked in," Connor Grant reported.

’What a convenient time for it to break.’

Tristan Sterling looked at Vivian Linton.

Vivian Linton’s eyes filled with tears. She shook her head innocently. "I don’t know."

The man pursed his lips, saying nothing.

"Tristan, you don’t believe me?"

Seeing his unreadable expression, Vivian Linton immediately burst into tears.

"Vivian, Holly Sinclair is the Young Madam of the Sterling Family. Her status is not something just anyone can insult," Tristan Sterling said faintly.

"Aren’t you two about to get a divorce?" Vivian Linton blurted out.

Nicole had told her before that Holly seemed to be pushing for a divorce with Tristan. For some reason, though, the two of them still hadn’t successfully gone through with it.

’That bitch Holly must be playing hard to get with Tristan.’

’She says she wants a divorce, but she’s seducing him at every turn.’

’So shameless!’

The temperature in the room plummeted.

The moment she asked, Vivian Linton realized she had overstepped.

Although Tristan loved and doted on her, he absolutely forbade her from meddling in things that weren’t her business.

Like his marriage.

"Tristan, don’t be angry. I’m not trying to rush you. I’ve already waited this long for you, so I don’t mind waiting a little longer. I just feel like Holly is always targeting me. I’m afraid that next time, it won’t be water she throws at me, but acid..."

Vivian Linton quickly tried to smooth things over in a small voice, her red-rimmed eyes a picture of pitiable beauty.

The man’s expression softened.

"She won’t."

Tristan Sterling gently patted Vivian Linton’s shoulder, comforting her. "I won’t let her hurt you again."

"Then this time..." Vivian Linton clutched her cheek, her voice choked with sobs.

Her words, and what was between them, were a plea for him to punish Holly Sinclair and stand up for her.

After all, Holly had bullied her so horribly.

"Connor Grant, order a new set from ZK," Tristan Sterling instructed Connor Grant, who was standing to the side.

ZK was a jewelry brand, and a single set could easily cost millions.

"Yes, sir," Connor Grant accepted the order.

"Tristan..." Vivian Linton bit her lip, looking wronged and unsatisfied.

Although Tristan Sterling was generous, and the jewelry he was giving her would certainly be priceless, she had been so humiliated by Holly Sinclair today...

’I can’t just swallow this bitterness!’

"Alright, I’ll take you home."

Tristan Sterling said, scooping her up by the waist and walking out.

The man’s tone was gentle, yet left no room for argument.

Things having come to this, Vivian Linton could only quit while she was ahead.

Even though Holly had hit her today, Holly had also gotten a terrible scare yesterday. Plus, she was now getting a set of jewelry.

’All things considered, I came out ahead.’

’Tristan likes sensible women. I can’t be relentless and annoy him.’

’Most importantly, I can’t really piss that bitch Holly off for good.’

’After all, I still need her to repair Mrs. Quincy’s antique cheongsam.’

Vivian Linton leaned against the man’s shoulder, silently scheming.

Last night, she had pretended to be scared of the thunder and begged him to come keep her company.

He had clearly promised to come right away, but a short while later, he said he had an urgent document to handle and couldn’t make it.

’Today, I have to find a way to make him stay!’

...

「Maplewood Manor」

Soaked to the bone, Vivian Linton immediately took a shower after getting home.

Soon, she emerged from the bathroom.

She was wearing a white bathrobe, and underneath was an extremely sexy, black silk nightgown.

She had even deliberately spritzed on some perfume.

Tristan Sterling had his back to her, standing on the balcony and talking on the phone.

"Tristan~"

Vivian Linton walked up softly and wrapped her arms around the man’s firm waist from behind.

Her soft, pliant body rubbed against his back, a barely-there caress.

’Any man would find it impossible to resist such a forward advance.’

Tristan Sterling turned around.

He glanced at Vivian Linton, hung up the phone, and placed both hands on her shoulders, pushing her slightly away. "Go lie down first. The doctor will be here soon."

Vivian Linton pouted her red lips coquettishly. "I don’t want a doctor. Tristan, I want—"

"Don’t be willful!"

"Tristan, I’m so scared. Please stay with me a little longer today, okay?" she pleaded in a sweet, affected voice, intentionally brushing open the collar of her bathrobe.

It revealed the sexy lingerie underneath, including her deep cleavage...

’With a smoking hot body like this, there’s no way I can’t make him stay today.’

But to Vivian Linton’s surprise, Tristan Sterling seemed completely unfazed by the alluring sight she presented.

He calmly pulled the slightly open collar of her robe closed and said, "Don’t catch a cold. I have things to deal with at the company, so I have to go. If you’re scared, have your family come stay with you."

He was elegant and composed, a perfect gentleman.

"Tristan..." Vivian Linton’s smile froze. She clutched his sleeve, unwilling to let him go, trying to make him stay.

A flash of embarrassment crossed her eyes.

"Get some rest."

After saying that, Tristan Sterling turned and walked out of the room.

Vivian Linton watched the man leave, so angry her face turned green with rage.

’I’m dressed like this!’

’Why is he still so indifferent?!’

’Am I not beautiful enough?’

’Is my body not hot enough?’

’Why does he have such intense desire for Holly Sinclair?’

’But with me, he’s always so polite?!’

’Why is that?!’

Vivian Linton would rather die than admit she was inferior to Holly Sinclair. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦

So after thinking it over and over, she decided the only reason Tristan wouldn’t touch her was—

’He can’t bear to!’

’He loves me, he treasures me, and he doesn’t want me to bear the stigma of being the other woman.’

’He isn’t divorced yet, so he can’t bring himself to touch me.’

’Yes!’

’That must be it!!’

...

In the depths of a dark alley.

"AHH!"

A blood-curdling scream tore through the silent night sky.

Zack lay on the ground, trembling in pain and barely clinging to life.

She looked at the mouth of the alley in terror.

There, a tall, imposing shadow stood.

The man exuded a horrifying, malevolent aura that was utterly chilling.

A cigarette dangled from the corner of his mouth, its ember glowing and fading like a will-o’-the-wisp.

It was an indescribable kind of horror.

TAP, TAP, TAP...

The man walked toward her, each step like a sharp blade, as if ready to give her death by a thousand cuts.

Fear, like an invisible pair of hands, cruelly choked Zack’s throat.

Zack felt as if she were seeing the God of Death descend, so scared she could barely breathe.

The life-reaping footsteps stopped. The tall man looked down at her from above.

Zack looked up and met the man’s predatory, cold eyes.

The blood in her veins ran cold.

"Mr. Ste— AHH..."

A shiny leather shoe stomped on her hand.

And ground it forcefully.

The pain was so intense it felt like it shot straight to her heart. Zack screamed, her entire body shivering as cold sweat drenched her.

"I’m sorry, I was wrong, I was wrong, I’ll never do it again... Spare me, I really won’t do it again..."

Tears and snot streamed down Zack’s face.

"You should be glad you’re a woman."

The man’s sinister voice sounded as if it came from the depths of Hell.

As he spoke, the man’s foot came down hard.

"AHH!!"

Zack’s hand broke.

...

Holly Sinclair worked late and didn’t get home until much later.

Exhausted, she walked to her front door and took out her key to open it.

Perhaps it just wasn’t her day, but the key wouldn’t fit into the lock.

Her patience worn thin, she was just about to smash the key in frustration when a large hand appeared out of nowhere.

It snatched the key from her.

She turned her head and met a pair of dark, cold eyes.

It was Tristan Sterling.
