Chapter 420: Chapter 420: Yvonne Hawthorne Is Taken Away
Leo Sullivan’s words undoubtedly revealed that Yvonne Hawthorne was deliberately framing Leah Thorne.
Yvonne Hawthorne was so angry she could burst.
"Leo, what nonsense are you spouting? How could I possibly harm myself?" Her eyes flared with fire as she glared at Leah, who wore a look of restrained grievance, "You bitch! You must have bribed Leo, you conspired to harm me!"
Leah shook her head in panic, tears streaming down her face, "I didn’t..."
On the other end of the phone, Leo had long been disgusted with Yvonne’s arrogance and had endured her temper over the years. Now, with her framing him, even the usually mild-mannered Leo was enraged.
"Ms. Hawthorne! You can be cured of eating something wrong, but you can’t speak wrongly!" Leo snapped, "The Sullivan Family has a legacy of practicing medicine, how could we poison a patient? Mr. Hawthorne, if The Hawthornes see me in this light, then I won’t work as your private doctor anymore!"
Vincent Hawthorne also shot Yvonne a disapproving look, "I know Dr. Sullivan’s character well! Apologize to Dr. Sullivan!"
"..." Yvonne clenched her fists tightly, shaking with anger.
She would absolutely refuse to apologize!!
She had always been the one bullying others, even Tanya Sinclair, that whore, had been stomped under her feet in the past! Recently, she almost died at Yvonne’s hands!
As for Leah, a lowly pauper! She was not even a tenth of Tanya Sinclair; why did she have the right to harm her like this!!
Yvonne screamed, "I won’t apologize! It’s not my fault!! Why should I apologize!"
Leo was thoroughly provoked as well, and said coldly, "Mr. Hawthorne, I think I’ve made Yvonne’s attitude very clear. Although the Sullivan Family is not aristocratic, we have our own principles and dignity! I’ve recorded the call earlier, and I’ll be instructing my lawyer to file a lawsuit against Ms. Hawthorne for defamation. Please find another private physician for The Hawthornes!"
"Dr. Sullivan..." Vincent wanted to salvage the situation, but Leo, for the first time, would not give Vincent any face and directly hung up, resolute in his actions.
At this moment, Yvonne clearly saw Leah standing behind Vincent, her tear-filled eyes fixated on her, for a brief moment reflecting sinister satisfaction.
"You bitch! I’ll kill you!!" Yvonne, driven mad with rage, lunged at Leah, and Vincent, tormented physically and mentally by her, lost patience and shoved Yvonne onto the sofa.
"Have you had enough?!" Vincent pressed his throbbing temples and angrily said, "As long as Tanya Sinclair doesn’t change her testimony, the military will immediately file a lawsuit against you! Attempted murder and obstruction of military duties—you know how long you’ll be in prison for this? At least twenty years!"
Yvonne’s eyes flickered with panic, but she still held onto a fluke.
"Tanya Sinclair wouldn’t really want to kill me! I’m Joy and Caden’s aunt!"
Vincent only found her stupidity laughable; he was about to speak when the sudden sound of knocking from outside interrupted him.
"Bang, bang, bang—!"
The knocking was urgent and forceful, sending chills down one’s spine.
Vincent had a vague idea of who the visitor might be, his expression slightly changed, and he stopped the servant from opening the door, choosing to open it himself.
When the door swung open, he saw several men in military uniforms standing outside, closing his eyes momentarily.
It wasn’t the police; it was directly the military personnel.
Tanya Sinclair this time had truly not spared Yvonne.
The leading middle-aged officer, whose rank on the shoulder showed his identity—Major.
He asked expressionlessly, "Is Ms. Yvonne Hawthorne here? She has been accused of attempted murder of a military protected person, Tanya Sinclair, and disruption of military plans, affecting diplomatic peace. Ms. Hawthorne, please come with us now!"
Yvonne’s face turned completely pale.
She screamed, arguing, "How dare you arrest me! I did nothing! Tanya Sinclair fell by herself! It has nothing to do with me!"
With a single look from the Major, several accompanying soldiers rushed into the room.
Yvonne retreated step by step, grabbing everything at hand and hurling it over.
"Get out! I told you to get out!"
She ran desperately towards the interior, but before she could enter the door, she was skillfully subdued by the soldiers.
"Let go of me! You dogs, let go of me!!" Yvonne screamed, struggling desperately, "Brother, save me!"
"Be quiet!"
Seeing Yvonne firmly controlled by two soldiers, pressed against the wall with her hands restrained by cold handcuffs, Vincent’s eyes showed a hint of reluctance, wanting to step forward, but the Colonel gave him a cold look.
The Colonel said, "Mr. Hawthorne, I advise you not to obstruct military duties! Otherwise, it will only bring trouble to The Hawthornes!"
Vincent stood frozen on the spot.
Behind him, Leah watched this scene, her lips curling slightly.
She had worried that Tanya Sinclair might show mercy and let Yvonne off, but thankfully she hadn’t, or else Leah would have to come up with a way to ensure Yvonne wouldn’t stir up trouble again.
"Take her away!" With the Major’s order, Yvonne was taken out.
"Brother, brother, save me! I don’t want to leave!!" Yvonne screamed and cried, truly knowing fear now.
But Vincent merely stood at the door, watching her being taken away indifferently.
Listening to his sister’s cries fade at the corner, Vincent closed his eyes, his body seemed sapped of strength, swaying.
Leah promptly supported him, concerned, and said: "Mr. Hawthorne, are you alright?"
Vincent looked down at Leah’s bruised face, "I’ll take you to the hospital first."
"Okay." Leah nodded gently.
She obediently followed Vincent downstairs.
On the other side, at the property office’s sofa, Joy sat holding a small phone, chatting with her brother, and when she looked up, she saw her father’s figure walking outside, next to him was someone even more familiar—wasn’t that her mommy?
When the elevator door opened, a small figure suddenly rushed out, tightly hugging Leah.
"Mommy!" Joy immediately jumped off the sofa, spreading her little arms and rushing to the entrance.
Leah raised her eyes to see a cute little darling shouting "Mommy," happily running towards her.
She recognized at once that this was Joy, Vincent and Tanya Sinclair’s daughter.
Joy hugged Leah tightly, her little face leaned in and rubbed against her, cooing, "Mommy, did you come to see Joy because you missed me?"
Leah smiled, patting Joy’s head, "Sweetheart, I’m not your mommy."
Joy looked up, seeing Leah’s face, very similar to Tanya Sinclair but covered in scars, she blinked confusedly, then quickly released her hands, stepping back awkwardly.
Vincent immediately picked up his daughter, explaining, "Sweetheart, she’s not mommy. You’ve mistaken someone."
Leah smiled and wanted to introduce herself, but Vincent inadvertently blocked her.
The meaning behind this gesture was clear; he did not want her to come in contact with his daughter...
"You wait here in the property office; I’ve arranged for Jonah Rivers to take you to the hospital. I’ll take Joy home first and check on you later."
Leah’s lips’ curling gradually faded but only for a moment; she tenderly said, "Okay, Mr. Hawthorne."
