Chapter 66: Chapter 66: Causing Trouble, Face-slapping Thea Sherwood
The store was deserted, even quieter than they had imagined.
Soon, the brand ambassador, Milo Jacobs, arrived, but his presence didn’t bring in a single customer.
Milo Jacobs felt bad about it. "I’m sorry, Boss Sherwood. I don’t have many fans."
"Just call me Ivy. You’ll have fans eventually. I believe in you. You have a very clean-cut aura, and you’re very handsome. People just haven’t discovered a gem like you yet!"
"Thanks. You’re the first person to call me a gem." Milo Jacobs was truly grateful.
He could also tell that Ivy Sherwood’s belief in him was genuine; otherwise, she wouldn’t have hired him as her brand ambassador.
Since the store was quiet and her perfume stock was low, Ivy Sherwood simply started a live stream to teach people how to blend fragrances.
It wasn’t a topic most people were familiar with, but a few curious individuals clicked in to watch, leaving the stream with only a handful of viewers.
Because all the perfume bottles had been smashed, Ivy’s store was incredibly fragrant. The scents attracted quite a few passersby, who came over to take a look.
Ivy explained everything to them in detail. She was happy that they had come to look and learn, whether they made a purchase or not.
However, some people just couldn’t stand to see Ivy happy. Thea Sherwood and Sylvia Blackwood stepped inside.
"Well, look at this. People are actually coming to a dump like this? Do you all really dare to buy her perfume? Does she even have a business license? These are probably just some sketchy, unlicensed products. What are you going to do when it makes your skin rot off?"
Upon hearing this, one of the potential customers put down the bottle of perfume she was holding.
"Yeah, I’ve never even heard of this brand, and it’s so expensive!"
"I wouldn’t risk it, either. The fragrances smell wonderful and aren’t harsh at all, but I still wouldn’t dare spray them on my skin."
"Let’s go, let’s go. I heard the Sherwood Company’s perfume store is over there. It just opened, and they even hired a huge celebrity. Let’s go check it out."
"The Sherwood Company is an established brand that’s been around for over twenty years, so their products are sure to be safe. Let’s go check out their store instead."
Ivy Sherwood looked up to see Thea Sherwood’s defiant expression.
"What are you looking at? A customer is here and you don’t even come over to serve them. Is this how you do business? With service like this, you might as well shut down right now!"
"Thea Sherwood, you have the nerve to show your face here?" Nina Scott, seeing that Thea had come looking for trouble, rolled up her sleeves.
"And why couldn’t I?" Thea Sherwood acted as if she hadn’t done a thing.
’But Ivy... to think she still dared to open for business after her store was trashed.’
"You’re the one who had someone’s store smashed to pieces the night before its grand opening, aren’t you? How can you be so vicious?" Nina Scott accused her.
"Smashing a store? I have no idea what you’re talking about. Don’t go flinging false accusations around. And besides, so what if it was me?"
Thea Sherwood had come looking for a fight. Seeing the perfumes Ivy had managed to display, she grabbed the nearest bottle and smashed it on the ground.
"These are just sketchy, unlicensed products anyway. Smashing them is doing everyone a favor. The regulatory authorities should be thanking me."
Thea didn’t notice the ongoing live stream. Her every word and deed were now being broadcast to the world.
"Isn’t that the young lady of the Sherwood Company? The one they called a ’perfumery genius’ who then got absolutely crucified for plagiarism?"
"My God, she seems so poised and elegant in public. I can’t believe this is what she’s like in private. She’s just a bully."
"I was wondering why this shop looked a little off... So it got trashed before its grand opening? What kind of beef do they have?"
Ivy just stared at Thea coldly. It was this exact kind of gaze from Ivy that Thea hated most.
She was jealous of Ivy. They used the exact same materials, but somehow, Ivy’s blends were always completely unique.
Moreover, the fragrance and style were remarkably similar to those of the famed perfumer, Iris.
Ivy was a natural, blessed with an incredible sensitivity to scent. The title of "perfumery genius" should have been hers, and the thought drove Thea mad with jealousy.
One bottle wasn’t enough for Thea. But as she reached for a second, Ivy shot out and grabbed her wrist.
The look in her eyes was icy, terrifying, and bone-chilling. Gripping Thea’s hand, she slammed it down onto the counter.
Thea cried out in pain. "Ivy, what do you think you’re doing!"
"What does it look like I’m doing? If your hand is so determined to cause trouble, then maybe you’d be better off without it!" Ivy’s eyes were like chips of ice.
Meeting that gaze, Thea began to tremble, all her earlier bluster gone in an instant.
"You wouldn’t dare! If you so much as touch me, my father will never let you get away with it!"
"How old are you, still running to Daddy for everything? Isn’t that embarrassing? Are you ever going to be weaned?"
"Now, you are going to clean this entire place up. You will also compensate me for the full value of everything you had your thugs destroy last night. Otherwise, I will personally hold you down and grind your face and hands into this broken glass."
Thea tried to play dumb. "Last night? What does that have to do with me!"
"Do you think I’m an idiot? That I wouldn’t know it was you just because you deny it? Thea, you can be disrespectful, but you have no right to be this malicious. If you have a problem with me, face me directly. What kind of coward pulls these underhanded tricks from the shadows?"
The drama was driving discussion, which in turn boosted the stream’s popularity. More and more people were tuning in. Seeing the confrontation, the comments flew. "Wow, this girl is so fierce and cool."
Nina, who had come over to help, walked up beside her. "Ivy, let me help. People like her are sick in the head. If you don’t teach them a lesson, they’ll think they can walk all over anyone."
With Nina’s help, the two of them wrestled Thea to the ground and began forcing her face toward the broken glass.
It was clear they weren’t joking. For the first time, Thea felt a surge of genuine fear.
But she had never been humiliated like this in her life. She struggled, screaming, "Ivy, let me go!"
She watched the jagged shards of glass on the floor get closer and closer. The pain of being cut would be one thing, but if her face was scarred, her life would be ruined.
Her face—her beauty—was the most important thing to her. Seeing that Ivy was dead serious, Thea instantly lost her nerve.
"I’ll clean! I’ll clean it up, okay?"
"Thea, you... How could you let someone like Ivy..." Sylvia Blackwood looked at her friend with utter disappointment.
They had made a plan before they came. They were going to humiliate Ivy and ensure her store couldn’t stay open.
So why was Thea now holding a broom and cleaning up for Ivy?
Thea started to cry. "I didn’t want to! But Ivy is a complete tyrant!"
Sylvia didn’t want to be associated with such a pathetic friend, so she turned and walked away.
Seeing Sylvia leave, Thea threw down her broom and ran after her. "Sylvia, wait for me!"
"And where do you think you’re going? You think you can leave before you’re done cleaning?" Ivy blocked her path.
"Get out of my way." Thea tried to push her.
Ivy glanced down at her hand. "Tired of that hand, are you?"
Thea snatched her hand back and stomped back to her task, fuming. When she was done sweeping, Ivy made her mop the entire floor.
Ivy then produced an itemized bill and made Thea pay up and sign for it.
Thea stared at the bill. "One million? Are you insane?"
