Chapter 57: Chapter 57: Ivy Sherwood’s True Colors: It Was All Her Trap

Ivy Sherwood had heard every word Timothy Sherwood said. So, all those things he had just said were lies—just a way to sweet-talk her into forgiving Gabriel Walker.

And the insults he’d hurled at her afterward... those were what he truly wanted to say.

"Ivy Sherwood, you stop right there!" Timothy Sherwood shouted, chasing after her and ordering the servants, "Stop her!"

’I can’t let her get away. If she reports me and Gabriel Walker right now, everything will be ruined!’

’I have to lock her up. Even if it means beating her into submission, I’ll make her sign that letter of forgiveness. She *must* sign it.’

Nanny Jules could only block Ivy’s path. "Miss, please, talk things over with your father."

"I have nothing to say to him." Ivy headed for the main door.

However, when she opened the door, several security guards blocked her way.

Timothy came down from behind her. "I asked you to come back last time, and you refused. Now you want to leave? It won’t be that simple."

Timothy produced a letter of forgiveness. "Sign this, and you can go."

Ivy never expected Timothy to be so depraved as to try and force her to sign.

"And if I don’t?"

"You think you have a choice right now? This is the Sherwood estate." Everyone here listened to him.

"Ivy, there are a million ways to make you sign. I could lock you up where you’ll never see the light of day, starve you for a few days. You think you won’t sign then?" It was just that he didn’t want to drag this out; President Walker probably couldn’t afford to wait.

"Everything you’re doing is illegal."

"So what? You’re my daughter. A father disciplining his daughter is the most natural thing in the world!"

Timothy waved his hand dismissively. "Grab her! She’s signing today, whether she wants to or not!"

Even if he had to break her hand to do it, Ivy was signing that paper today!

Ivy was outnumbered and outmatched. Trapped in the Sherwood estate, she had no way to escape.

The security guards seized Ivy’s arms and dragged her forward.

"Timothy Sherwood, forcing someone to sign a document is also illegal! You’re colluding with a criminal!"

"If you had just signed it willingly, would I have needed to use force?" Timothy sat on the sofa. Ivy had walked right into his trap; this couldn’t have been easier.

Upstairs, Thea Sherwood couldn’t help but laugh out loud at the scene. ’That idiot Ivy. Does she really think she’s so clever? Coming to the Sherwood estate like this and daring to curse at Father.’

"Ivy, for the sake of our father-daughter relationship, just sign it, and we can pretend none of this ever happened. If you don’t..."

"What happens if I don’t sign? Are you going to kill me?"

Timothy looked at Ivy. Her eyes were filled with hatred, and her gaze sent a chill down his spine.

Those eyes... they were just like *hers*. But Ivy’s face didn’t resemble her at all. *She* had been stunning, a true beauty, but Ivy had been plain since she was a child. And her personality was so stubborn, so single-minded—not at all endearing like Thea and Claire.

He had tried to love this daughter more, but he just couldn’t get over the hurdle in his heart. Ivy simply wasn’t...

’Forget it. I just failed to raise her properly.’

"Timothy Sherwood, can you live with your conscience after doing all this? Aren’t you afraid my mother’s ghost will come for you in the middle of the night?"

The thought of Ivy’s mother sent another chill down Timothy’s back.

"Make her sign! Make her sign it now!" Timothy ordered.

The men grabbed Ivy’s hand, not caring if they hurt her, and tried to force her to sign.

Upstairs, Thea was laughing gleefully, on the verge of applauding.

Just then, a commotion erupted at the door as several police officers rushed in.

"Timothy Sherwood, we’ve received a report alleging that you have illegally infringed upon another person’s rights, fabricated evidence, and used coercion and threats to cause them harm. Please come with us."

"I didn’t do anything." Timothy hadn’t expected the police.

He looked at Ivy. The security guards were still holding her, and with her red-rimmed eyes, she looked every bit the victim.

She looked at the officers. "Officers, I’m sure you saw it all. Besides trying to force me to sign this and attempting to illegally imprison me, he also physically assaulted me."

"Ivy, don’t talk nonsense!" Timothy glared at her, then turned to the officers with an apologetic smile. "This is my daughter. We’re just having a disagreement. She’s young and doesn’t know any better. I’ll be sure to teach her right. Sorry for the trouble."

"He’s the one talking nonsense. I have proof," Ivy said coldly, her eyes devoid of any remaining warmth for her family.

She was the one who had called the police.

Before even entering the house, Ivy had anticipated that Timothy wouldn’t let her leave so easily, so she had called the police in advance.

She knew Timothy had long been blinded by money. If she hadn’t come today, she wouldn’t have been able to get any evidence against him, and he might have been able to clear his name.

Only by coming here herself could she bait Timothy into revealing his true, primitive nature.

And sure enough, Timothy hadn’t disappointed her. He was even more ruthless than she had anticipated.

That being the case, there was no need for her to hold back or show any mercy for the sake of their father-daughter bond.

"What proof could you have?" Timothy was about to explode with rage. ’This unfilial daughter!’

’If I’d known, I should have strangled her in her crib.’

"I have a recording. Everything you just said has been recorded," Ivy said, revealing she had come prepared.

"You... I’ll kill you!" Timothy hadn’t realized this was all Ivy’s setup. He’d thought she was walking right into a trap.

Timothy lunged at Ivy, intending to beat her.

"You ungrateful wretch! You untamable mutt! I’ll beat you to death today!"

Seeing this, the police rushed to restrain Timothy, but he was in such a rage that two officers couldn’t hold him back.

The police had no choice but to handcuff Timothy and pin him down on the sofa. He screamed, "Let go of me! All of you, let me go! What right do you have to interfere while I’m disciplining my own daughter?! Ivy, you called the cops on your own father! You’re a disgrace!"

"Aren’t you afraid of being struck by lightning?! Ivy, I hope you die a horrible death!"

’To think a father would curse his own daughter to die a horrible death.’ Ivy just smiled coldly.

Ivy walked over to Timothy. "You’ve done nothing but evil your whole life and you’re still alive and well. How could I possibly die before you?"

After speaking, Ivy straightened up. "Thank you, officers. You really should investigate someone like him thoroughly. What if he gets out and comes after me for revenge? I’m so scared."

"We will investigate thoroughly. We will also get to the bottom of what happened to you before, Miss Sherwood. Our people are already on their way to arrest Gabriel Walker. A special task force has been set up for this case, so please rest assured."

The police were acting with surprising efficiency this time. But Ivy was puzzled. ’My case, relatively speaking, isn’t *that* major. Does it really require a special task force?’
