Chapter 282: Chapter 282: You Haven’t Even Married Quentin Blackwood and You’re Already Protecting Him

By the time Quentin Blackwood and Ivy Sherwood arrived at the racetrack, Julian Grant and Graham Sherwood were already there, chatting with their legs crossed and sunglasses on as if they were on vacation. They even had drinks beside them.

Even though they were at a racetrack, it felt more like a beach resort.

Seeing the two of them approach, Julian Grant stood up. "What took you two so long?!"

Julian Grant was joking, but Quentin Blackwood played along, "Yeah, we were busy doing something else behind your back."

"Oh really? Ivy, what were you two doing behind my back?"

"We weren’t doing anything!"

Julian Grant tried to lean in to get a closer look at Ivy Sherwood’s face but was blocked by Quentin Blackwood.

Julian Grant was still mystified. "Ivy, your makeup skills are incredible. I can’t even tell which one is the real you. You really gave us a scare the other night."

Graham Sherwood, who was sitting beside him, nodded in agreement. He had seen Ivy Sherwood with this face several times, but he still couldn’t connect it to the person from the other night.

Afterward, he even wondered if he had been drunk and was just hallucinating.

Ivy Sherwood had simply been in too much of a hurry that night to put on her makeup.

’But these two are Quentin Blackwood’s good friends, so it’s okay if they know the secret. Besides, she’s close with Julian Grant, too. They’re all friends.’

"I usually wear makeup when I go out, so this is the face you normally see," Ivy Sherwood said frankly.

"You even wear makeup when you’re just hanging out with us? I thought what we saw the other day was a once-in-a-lifetime sight. Hey Ivy, how about you give us a live demonstration and take off your makeup? Let us witness that stunning beauty from the other night again."

"Sure,"

"No!"

Two voices spoke at once. Ivy Sherwood turned to look at Quentin Blackwood; she wasn’t the one who had said no.

"Why should she have to take her makeup off for you just because you want to see?" Quentin Blackwood demanded.

Julian Grant feigned being wronged. "I just want to have a look."

Julian Grant then muttered resentfully, "Ivy herself said it was okay."

But Julian Grant didn’t dare say it too loudly. After all, he couldn’t win a fight against Quentin Blackwood.

Quentin Blackwood turned to Ivy Sherwood. "From now on, just pretend you don’t hear anything Julian Grant says."

Ivy Sherwood was speechless.

’Isn’t it a bit much to say that so blatantly right in front of Mr. Grant?’

"I remember from last time, Ivy’s pretty good at racing, isn’t she?" Julian Grant recalled her impressive skills on the track.

Ivy Sherwood said, "Not as good as you, Mr. Grant. I’m just an amateur."

"Too humble. We all know what you’re capable of. So, how about we don’t have a formal race today? We can just drive for fun."

"Sure." Ivy Sherwood agreed. She was fine with that.

"So, the four of us, one car each?" Julian Grant looked at Quentin Blackwood.

Quentin Blackwood said, "I don’t know how to race."

Julian Grant: "???"

Julian Grant thought he’d misheard. "What did you say?"

’What was Quentin Blackwood playing at? Doesn’t he have a professional racing license for international competitions? And now he’s saying he doesn’t know how to drive?’

But Julian Grant was smart; he quickly understood Quentin Blackwood’s intention.

"My mistake, I must have remembered wrong. You really don’t know how. Well, let me think... how about you share a car with Ivy? She’s a good driver."

Ivy Sherwood: "?"

’How could Quentin Blackwood not know how to drive? The last time they were at the racetrack, her car had a problem, and wasn’t it Quentin Blackwood who saved her?’

’Although Ivy Sherwood hadn’t seen his face at the time and Quentin Blackwood denied it afterward, Julian Grant had clearly said back then that Quentin was the one in the red race car.’

"Ivy, Quentin will be in the car with you. No problem, right?"

Ivy Sherwood didn’t have a problem with it, so she nodded.

"Since you two are sharing a car, shouldn’t we raise the stakes a little?" Julian Grant asked.

"What kind of stakes?" Ivy Sherwood asked.

Julian Grant thought for a moment. "How about this: whoever loses has to be the winner’s slave for a month. Of course, I’m not talking about you, Ivy. I’m talking about Quentin Blackwood. Let’s make Quentin Blackwood my slave for a month. Graham Sherwood, what do you think?"

Graham Sherwood said grimly, "I think you’re asking for a death wish."

"What’s with you? I’m trying to do you a favor here. Surely the great President Blackwood isn’t too scared to take the bet?"

Julian Grant knew that Quentin Blackwood could race, and that he was exceptionally good.

He had also seen Ivy race last time. She was fast, but compared to him, she was probably still just a little bit behind.

Therefore, Julian Grant was confident he would win. If he could make Quentin Blackwood his slave, he would be able to command the heavens.

"I’m the one driving, so if there’s a bet, it should be on me," Ivy Sherwood said.

She wasn’t sure if she could win, and it would be terrible if she actually lost Quentin Blackwood in a bet.

"Ivy, you haven’t even married into the family yet and you’re already protecting him," Julian Grant teased.

The moment he said that, Ivy Sherwood’s entire face turned beet red. ’Marry into the family? Her relationship with Quentin Blackwood wasn’t like that!’

"I’ll take that bet. I’m just worried you’ll lose too badly," Quentin Blackwood’s voice was calm and steady, without a ripple of emotion.

"You’re not the one driving, so don’t be so confident. It’s not certain who will win or lose. Hey Ivy, go easy on me, and I’ll give you a cut later. We can make Quentin Blackwood serve both of us," Julian Grant joked, trying to make a deal with Ivy.

Ivy Sherwood mimicked Julian Grant’s joking tone. "Okay, but I only want him to serve me."

"Ivy, you traitor!" Julian Grant cried, clutching his chest in mock agony.

Ivy Sherwood picked a race car, and Quentin Blackwood got into the passenger seat. Still, Ivy felt that something wasn’t quite right.

"You really don’t know how to race?" Ivy Sherwood asked again, uncertain.

"Do you think I do?" Quentin Blackwood didn’t answer, but posed a question in return.

He didn’t really want to lie to Ivy Sherwood, so he avoided answering the question directly.

Ivy Sherwood said, "I just feel like President Blackwood is capable of anything. A small thing like racing definitely wouldn’t be a challenge for you."

The corners of Quentin Blackwood’s lips curved upward. "So in your heart, I’m capable of anything?"

"I..." Ivy Sherwood felt like that definitely wasn’t the main point of her sentence. ’How did Quentin Blackwood completely miss the point?’

"What I mean is, in many people’s hearts, you’re capable of anything."

"Is that so? And what about in your heart?" Quentin Blackwood seemed determined to press her for an answer.

The tips of Ivy Sherwood’s ears burned. Seeing that Julian Grant had already started driving, she changed the subject. "Mr. Grant is on his way. I’m starting, too."

Her racing skills were actually quite good; she just usually kept them hidden.

However, she was still just an amateur. Compared to Julian Grant, she didn’t have much confidence.

"Mr. Blackwood, you’re the one who agreed to this bet. Don’t blame me if we lose," Ivy Sherwood said, getting the unpleasantries out of the way first.

Quentin Blackwood turned to look at her. His usually icy eyes now held a hint of a smile, and his voice was much lower.

"Well then, to make sure I only have to serve Miss Sherwood, shouldn’t Miss Sherwood try a little harder?"

Ivy Sherwood’s heart felt like it had been tickled by a kitten’s paw, and a fire blazed across her cheeks. She was speechless.

’Is that something Quentin Blackwood would say? Has he been possessed?!’
