Chapter 280: Chapter 280: The Sour Stench of Love
Caleb Blackwood arrived at the hospital after noon. He had finished his work and came to see Silas Blackwood.
Just as he was getting out of his car at the hospital entrance, he saw two people getting into another car.
Those two looked a bit familiar. Weren’t they the ones he’d seen on the Summers Family’s cruise?
They seemed quite familiar with Jason Summers. The three of them had talked for a while, and they looked like important people.
Their exceptionally handsome looks and extraordinary auras made them instantly recognizable to Caleb Blackwood.
’Haven’t those two left Lustre yet?’
’Could this be an opportunity to collaborate? Perhaps I should pay them a visit.’
Caleb Blackwood immediately contacted his secretary and asked him to investigate the two’s identities, find out which company they were from, and see what they had been up to during their long stay in Lustre.
...
The next day, Quentin Blackwood was discharged from the hospital.
Discharged at the same time was Silas Blackwood.
Several cars from the Blackwood Family were parked outside, with more than ten servants alone there just to pack up Silas Blackwood’s things.
Silas Blackwood’s stay in the hospital was comparable to living in a hotel; he had brought a great many things with him.
His injuries could only be healed slowly at home. Staying in the hospital wasn’t doing much good, and even half a year there wouldn’t be enough for a full recovery.
Anna Nash was also there today, and she personally went to help Silas Blackwood up.
Silas Blackwood shoved her away. "Get lost!"
Anna Nash didn’t seem angry and just followed behind him.
A short distance away, only Zane Linton had come to pick up Quentin Blackwood, acting as his driver.
The staff from Norhaven had wanted to come, but Quentin Blackwood told them not to go to the trouble, saying it wasn’t necessary.
Uncle Linton was getting on in years and shouldn’t be put through such an ordeal. Besides, the hospital was a public place where many patients needed to rest, so it was best not to have so many people blocking the way.
When Silas Blackwood saw the luxury car drive by, he couldn’t help but admire it.
Men have a keen eye for cars, especially enthusiasts like him. This particular luxury car was a limited edition, with no more than ten in the entire world. Even he didn’t own one.
But that car, black and exuding an understated luxury, was one he wanted for himself.
Just as he was wondering who owned it, the car stopped nearby, and a familiar face got out of the driver’s seat.
’Isn’t that one of Quentin Blackwood’s men?’
’Could it be...’
He followed the man’s gaze and saw Quentin Blackwood standing there with Ivy Sherwood.
Quentin Blackwood was carrying their things, while Ivy Sherwood’s hands were empty.
Seeing this, Silas Blackwood’s eyes filled with jealousy. ’Those two are so shameless and brazen now!’
If looks could kill, Silas Blackwood would have already sliced them into a thousand pieces countless times over.
’But... it looks like Ivy Sherwood is looking at me.’
’Is she making eyes at me? I knew it. I’m just that charming. She must be stealing glances at me!’
Silas Blackwood even struck a pose, trying to show off his charm.
Ivy Sherwood had actually noticed Silas Blackwood long ago. With such a large entourage, it was hard not to.
But she had simply ignored him; it had nothing to do with her, after all.
Instead, her gaze fell upon Anna Nash, who was standing next to Silas Blackwood. Anna felt the look and followed it, her eyes meeting Ivy’s.
Ivy’s expression was placid, but to someone with a guilty conscience, her gaze felt like a threat, as if Ivy could expose her secret at any moment.
Anna Nash panicked and didn’t dare to meet Ivy’s eyes.
She still hadn’t retrieved the ashes of Ivy’s mother, and several days had already passed.
It was like a knife hanging over her head, ready to fall at any moment, leaving Anna in a state of utter turmoil.
’That look from Ivy just now must have been a threat, a reminder.’
She immediately turned her back, refusing to look at Ivy.
...
After parking the car, Zane Linton came right over and took the bags from Quentin Blackwood’s hands.
Ivy Sherwood and Quentin Blackwood got into the car, and she accompanied him back to Norhaven.
The servants at Norhaven had prepared a delicious spread, and Ivy Sherwood was invited to stay for dinner.
After the meal, Ivy stayed for a while longer, not leaving until the afternoon.
Zane Linton was also leaving, so he gave Ivy a ride back.
Watching Ivy leave, Quentin Blackwood sent a message to Julian Grant, asking him to postpone their plans for the next day by one day.
’It would be better to take care of company matters tomorrow and then have fun the day after,’ Quentin thought, wanting Ivy to rest for a day, though he suspected she wouldn’t and would probably go to work.
Julian Grant, of course, had no problem with it. He replied, "If you care about her, just say so. You have to express yourself for the other person to understand what you mean."
"Also, I haven’t had a chance to ask these past couple of days, but what’s the deal with Ivy? A beauty picked you up last time, and it turns out that beauty was actually Ivy. That’s... that’s just unbelievable."
Quentin Blackwood said, "That’s how she originally looks."
"So you knew all along. Ivy really keeps her cards close to her chest. Be honest, did you fall for her looks?"
"No."
"Well then, why don’t you ask Ivy for me if she has any plans to enter the entertainment industry? I could definitely make her a huge star. With a face like that, she’s guaranteed to make a name for herself in show business!"
Quentin Blackwood said coolly, "She’s not interested."
"You haven’t even asked," Julian Grant pressed, not giving up.
Quentin Blackwood said, "She listens to me."
Julian Grant: "..."
’Why did Quentin’s words sound so smug?’
He felt like he could smell the cloying stench of new love.
’Why do I suddenly have the urge to punch someone?’
Julian Grant stopped the idle chatter and switched to business with Quentin. "I’ve been planning to expand toward Aethelgard. While many entertainment companies are registered in Lustre, its resources are limited. I’ve met a few people, but to establish a foothold in Aethelgard, I might need some help from a big shot like you."
This was a trivial matter for Quentin Blackwood, and since Julian Grant was his brother, he was happy to help.
"No problem. Just let Zane Linton know if you need anything."
"Great! You’re a true brother. From now on, Julian will be at your beck and call. And just leave everything about you and Ivy to me!"
...
The next day, Ivy Sherwood went to the office in the morning.
She hadn’t handled much work for several days, and now it was piled mountain-high.
’I can’t even imagine it,’ she thought. ’My company is so small, yet there’s already this much work. How many matters must DG Group have to deal with every day?’
’Quentin can handle it all with just one brain. If it were me, ten brains probably wouldn’t be enough.’
In the morning, Ivy Sherwood gathered all the Perfumers in the studio for a meeting.
During the meeting, Edie came in and said that Thea Sherwood was looking for her and was waiting outside.
Ivy was in a meeting; how could she possibly step out to see Thea?
By the time her meeting ended an hour later, she thought Thea would have left, but to her surprise, Thea was still waiting there.
