Chapter 274: Chapter 274: President Blackwood Is Very Satisfied with the Differential Treatment

Ivy Sherwood had originally planned to bring a meal for Nina too, but Nina said she had already gone home, so Ivy just brought one.

However, when she went upstairs, she was surprised to find Seth Scott not in his hospital room, but out in the hallway.

The sight of Seth Scott made Ivy freeze. She didn’t dare go any closer. She was trying to avoid him, and she hesitated, wondering if she should wait for him to leave before passing by. But it was too late—he had already seen her.

He smiled when he saw her. "Ivy."

Ivy had no choice but to walk over. Noticing the thick bandages wrapped around Seth Scott’s leg, which made the injury look quite serious, she asked, "Seth, why aren’t you resting inside?"

Seth Scott’s secretary and assistant were standing next to him. Reading their boss’s intentions, they chimed in, "Mr. Scott isn’t feeling well. He says it’s uncomfortable lying in bed, and he might have a concussion. He keeps complaining about being dizzy and can’t keep anything down. He’s barely eaten all day. We’re worried about whether he can handle it."

The assistant’s words put Ivy under sudden pressure. Ordinarily, she should have brought a meal for Seth Scott, too, but she didn’t want him to think she was giving him false hope.

"That’s enough," Seth Scott said, deliberately waiting until his assistant was finished before scolding him. "I’m fine. Ivy doesn’t need to worry."

Then he looked at Ivy, his gentle eyes seeming to swim with emotion.

Since she already knew, there was no longer any need for him to hide or restrain himself. "Ivy, are you here to see Quentin Blackwood? Is he doing all right?"

"He’s doing great," Ivy said. "He should be discharged soon."

"Is that so? Well, congratulations to him. Ivy, we’re still friends, right? Can you come visit me more often, too?" Seth Scott didn’t want to hold back any longer.

’I need to be as shameless as Quentin Blackwood,’ he thought. ’You have to fight for the girl you want, and it’s not like Ivy is his yet.’

"Seth, I..."

"Are you here to bring Quentin Blackwood dinner? Is there any for me?" Seth Scott kept a smile on his face, but his words and the look in his eyes made Ivy feel pressured and uneasy.

"I’m sorry... Why don’t you tell me what you want to eat, and I’ll go buy it for you right now?"

"Great," Seth Scott agreed.

Even though Ivy was only buying it, not making it herself, Seth Scott still felt it was enough.

Seth Scott told her what he wanted, and Ivy said, "Wait here for me, then."

Seeing that Ivy intended to give the food she was holding to Quentin Blackwood first, Seth Scott’s eyes narrowed. "I’m feeling a little hungry right now. Why don’t you give that to me, and I can deliver it to Quentin Blackwood for you?"

"No, thank you. I can just give it to him later," Ivy refused.

It wasn’t that she was afraid Seth Scott might sneak a bite; it was that if Seth Scott went to see Quentin Blackwood, it would probably start World War Three.

Ivy didn’t dare to even imagine the scene.

"All right." A bitter smile touched the corners of Seth Scott’s lips.

After he told her his order, Ivy went downstairs. There were many restaurants near the hospital, so she bought some food for Seth Scott and brought it back up.

Seth Scott still hadn’t gone back into his room; it looked like he was deliberately waiting there for Ivy.

Ivy handed over the food. "Eat it while it’s hot. It’s freshly made."

Two men helped Seth Scott to his feet. His assistant said, "Miss Sherwood, could you help us by putting this inside? There’s a small table over there, and our hands are full."

Ivy thought for a moment, then agreed. "Okay."

Ivy had figured Seth Scott’s two assistants probably hadn’t eaten either, so she had bought extra. She even opened the food containers for them. "If there’s nothing else, I’ll be leaving now."

Ivy started to turn, but Seth Scott grabbed her by the wrist.

"Ivy, I... Can’t you spend more time with me, too? Is Quentin Blackwood the only one you see?"

"Ivy, you know... when I was driving, all I could think about was you. I’ve realized I just can’t control my feelings for you anymore."

Ivy pressed her lips together. "I’m sorry."

A flicker of hurt flashed in Seth Scott’s eyes. "You said before that you like someone... Is it him?"

Ivy remained silent, neither confirming nor denying it.

Seth Scott quickly changed the subject. "This is a lot of food. Why don’t you stay and have some with me?"

’I thought I’d made myself clear enough,’ Ivy thought. ’Why is Seth still...?’

"I really shouldn’t. I’m sorry, Seth, I think we..."

"I know, I didn’t mean it like that. I just wanted you to sit down, have a meal, and talk for a bit."

"What’s there to talk about? Mr. Scott, do you mind if I join you?"

A voice suddenly cut in from the doorway. It was Quentin Blackwood.

Quentin Blackwood had come out of his room, and upon passing Seth Scott’s, he saw Ivy Sherwood inside.

He had been waiting for Ivy for so long, only to find out she had come to see Seth Scott first.

"President Blackwood, perfect timing. Care to eat with us? Ivy personally brought this for me." Although Seth Scott’s welcome seemed enthusiastic, he was really just making sure Quentin Blackwood knew that Ivy had brought him food as well.

"Is that so?" Quentin Blackwood looked at Ivy.

"He can’t eat this!" Ivy said, rushing to block him. Afraid of what might happen between the two men, she hurried to the door and pulled Quentin Blackwood back.

"And why can’t I?" Quentin Blackwood asked.

Ivy said, "Have you forgotten why you’re in the hospital? Your stomach is weak; you can’t eat spicy food. Did you forget everything the doctor told you about what you can and can’t eat?"

The corners of Quentin Blackwood’s mouth lifted as he looked over at Seth Scott, seemingly showing off how concerned Ivy was for him.

Quentin Blackwood said, "As long as you remember for me, that’s all that matters."

Meanwhile, Seth Scott nearly snapped the disposable chopsticks in his hand.

Ivy was oblivious to the subtle games men played. "It’s no use if I’m the only one who remembers," she said. "You have to remember, too. You have to keep it in mind every day."

"I know. So, what am I having for dinner?" Quentin Blackwood loved it when Ivy was like this, acting as if they were the only two people in the world, with eyes only for him.

"I brought you food. Let’s go back to your room." Ivy pushed Quentin Blackwood out, then looked back at Seth Scott. "I’m sorry, Seth. Please get some rest. I’m leaving now."

Before Seth Scott could say a word, Ivy left his room.

Of course, Ivy didn’t see the chopsticks in Seth Scott’s hand finally snap.

Quentin Blackwood was still waiting outside; he hadn’t gone back to his room. When he saw Ivy, his dark eyes grew somber.

"’Personally brought this for me?’" Quentin Blackwood repeated, grinding the words out through clenched teeth.

"No, it’s... a long story. It’s not something I can explain in a sentence or two." Ivy took Quentin Blackwood’s hand and urged him inside.

Quentin Blackwood lowered his gaze to their joined hands, and the corners of his mouth turned up slightly.

Ivy went over to the small table and took out the dinner she had brought. "Sorry for the delay. It might be a little cold. Should I go heat it up in the microwave?"

"No need."

One look at the dishes was enough to know that Ivy had made them herself.

He had also seen Seth’s meal, and it was obviously just bought from one of the restaurants downstairs.

President Blackwood was very satisfied with this clear difference in treatment.
