Chapter 265: Chapter 265: Come Over and Sleep With Me for a While
Inside the hospital room, the doctor was on his morning rounds. Nina Scott and Ivy Sherwood were outside, and Seth Scott knew Ivy was there.
"Doctor, about my injury..."
The doctor said, "We need to keep you under observation for another two days to check for a concussion. Your other injuries will heal in a few days with some rest at home. Young men like you recover quickly. It’s not serious."
Seth Scott said, "What I mean is, can you make the bandages look more serious? Put me in a cast or something. Just say I have a severe fracture, whatever. Just tell my family it’s worse than it is."
The doctor gave him a strange look. It was the first time he’d ever heard such a request.
"Your leg does have a fracture, but it’s a minor one. It doesn’t need a cast, or even a splint."
"I..."
"Don’t interfere with our work. We doctors always stick to the facts." After finishing his check-up, the doctor led the other medical staff to the next room for their rounds.
Seth Scott had no choice but to pull out his phone and call his secretary, telling him to bring some extra bandages when he came.
Ivy Sherwood went with Nina Scott to buy breakfast, and then they both gave their statements to the police.
The police report stated that Seth Scott had crashed because he was distracted while driving. Although it didn’t say why he was distracted, Ivy Sherwood knew it was probably related to her.
"Alright, Ivy, this isn’t your fault. My brother was just careless. Don’t take it to heart or put pressure on yourself." Nina Scott patted Ivy Sherwood’s shoulder.
Ivy Sherwood nodded. "I know."
"Hurry and eat your breakfast. You should go home and rest. You’ve been with me since last night and haven’t slept a wink. Everything’s fine here, so go get some proper sleep."
"I’d rather stay with you. I’m worried about you being here alone." Ivy Sherwood couldn’t bring herself to leave Nina Scott.
Nina Scott said, "What’s there to worry about? I’m not the one who was in an accident. Besides, my brother’s assistant will be here soon to take care of him, and then I’ll go home and rest too."
Nina Scott had originally wanted to call their parents, since this was no small matter, but Seth Scott had told her not to.
Seth Scott knew that if their parents found out, their mother would just end up crying. It was better not to make them worry for nothing, especially since his injuries weren’t serious.
"Besides, I’m about to take his breakfast to him now. Do you want to come inside with me?" Nina Scott asked.
’Of course not.’ Right now, Ivy Sherwood had no idea how to face Seth Scott.
"Then I’ll head back first. You have to go home and rest, too. You’ve been up all night."
"Okay."
With that, Ivy Sherwood left the inpatient department. Unexpectedly, however, she ran into someone just outside the elevators.
"Zane Linton?"
"What a coincidence, Miss Sherwood."
In fact, it wasn’t a coincidence at all. He had been waiting by the elevators for a long time for Ivy Sherwood to appear.
Ivy Sherwood never expected to run into Zane Linton here. "Are you here to visit a patient?"
Zane Linton’s expression was, as always, unchanging. No matter what happened, he remained perfectly calm and unruffled.
"President Blackwood has been hospitalized. I brought him here."
Ivy Sherwood froze for a second. "Quentin Blackwood is in the hospital? Is it serious? What’s wrong with him? Which room is he in?"
"He... has a stomach issue. He’s undergoing tests now. It might be stomach bleeding."
"When did he come to the hospital? Was he feeling unwell last night?"
Zane Linton shook his head. "I’m not too sure. President Blackwood is usually very reluctant to come to the hospital. He typically just toughs it out when he’s sick."
"This time..." Zane Linton pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose. "This time, I’m afraid it’s quite serious. Otherwise, President Blackwood wouldn’t have agreed to be hospitalized. What brings you to the hospital, Miss Sherwood?"
"Are his tests done? Is it serious?" Ivy Sherwood continued to ask, a hint of anxiety coloring her tone.
’A man like Quentin Blackwood would rather tough out any illness than go to a hospital. For him to be admitted now, it must be very serious.’
’He’s a grown man, how can he still not know how to take care of himself?’
’When I think about how much Quentin Blackwood drank yesterday—all those empty bottles on the table—and with his weak stomach, it’s no wonder he ended up in the hospital.’
"The test results aren’t out yet. His room is upstairs. Miss Sherwood, would you like to come with me to see him?"
"Then I’ll go up with you." Ivy Sherwood hadn’t slept all night and had been exhausted, but now her sleepiness was completely gone.
They got in the elevator, and as Ivy Sherwood watched Zane Linton press the button for the floor, her heart sank. ’Don’t tell me... Quentin Blackwood is on the same floor as Seth Scott.’
After following Zane Linton out of the elevator, Ivy Sherwood discovered an even bigger coincidence: Quentin Blackwood’s room was right next to Seth Scott’s!
’Nina must be in Seth Scott’s room, not out in the hall.’
In the hospital room, Quentin Blackwood was sitting on the bed with an IV drip in the back of his hand, still working on his laptop.
Hearing the sound, Quentin Blackwood glanced up. Upon seeing Ivy Sherwood, his expression remained unchanged as he lowered his gaze again, his hands never stopping their work on the keyboard.
"What are you doing here?" His voice was cold, as if he didn’t welcome Ivy Sherwood at all.
Zane Linton, standing nearby, mentally facepalmed. ’President Blackwood, isn’t the whole reason you’re here, waiting eagerly, for Miss Sherwood to come see you?’
Ivy Sherwood had seen Quentin Blackwood in suits and in loungewear at home, but this was the first time she had ever seen him in a hospital gown.
He was tall but very lean. Despite his regular workouts and fantastic physique, he was just thin. The hospital gown, which would have fit an average person just right, looked especially large and baggy on him.
Quentin Blackwood’s face was extremely pale, and he looked completely listless.
’How can he still be forcing himself to work when he’s in this state?’
"I ran into Miss Sherwood downstairs, and she said she wanted to come see you." ’It’s so hard to play along with President Blackwood’s act,’ Zane Linton thought.
Then again, Quentin Blackwood wasn’t entirely acting. His stomach was genuinely bothering him, and he was just using this as an opportunity to get a proper check-up and some treatment.
"What is there to see? It’s not like staring at me will do any good, and my illness won’t disappear any faster. With all this time on your hands, you’d be better off taking care of someone else."
Zane Linton was a very perceptive person. ’President Blackwood has a sharp tongue but a soft heart.’
But now that Miss Sherwood had arrived, his mission was complete. Seeing as neither of the two was paying him any attention, Zane Linton quietly slipped out of the hospital room.
Ivy Sherwood walked further into the room. "Besides your stomach, does anything else hurt? Do you want to get a full-body check-up?"
"In your eyes, am I just a man riddled with health problems?"
"Can you stop being so contrary? You knew your stomach was bad, yet you drank so much. Are you stupid?"
"I..." Quentin Blackwood was so thoroughly scolded that he had nothing to say.
If anyone else had been present, they would have definitely given Ivy Sherwood a big thumbs-up. After all, there weren’t many people in the world who could scold Quentin Blackwood like that.
Not only was Quentin Blackwood not angry, but the corner of his mouth even curved into a small smile. "I heard you were the one who took me home last night?"
"Mr. Grant was the one who called me over."
"And then you just abandoned me to go find someone else?"
"I didn’t go find someone else. Seth Scott got into a car accident and was hospitalized. Nina couldn’t handle it all by herself, so she asked me to keep her company."
She hadn’t even seen Seth Scott’s face; she hadn’t even gone into his room.
Quentin Blackwood looked at the dark circles under Ivy Sherwood’s eyes. ’She stayed up all night just to keep Nina Scott company?’
’Is Ivy Sherwood planning to go back to the office now? What if she faints on the way? Does she really think she’s a machine?’
"Come here. Lie down with me for a while." Quentin Blackwood closed his laptop and casually set it aside.
Ivy Sherwood: "?"
The hospital bed was indeed quite large, but... ’How am I supposed to lie down with him?’
