Chapter 254: Chapter 254: Wash the Clothes and Return Them to Me
Ivy Sherwood looked at Mrs. Blackwood and Silas Blackwood and said, "Don’t you want to know who the culprit is? If you’re willing to cooperate, I can help you expose them."
Silas Blackwood and Mrs. Blackwood exchanged a glance. "Stop playing games," Mrs. Blackwood snapped. "I’m sure you’re the one behind this!"
However, Silas Blackwood said, "Alright."
Mrs. Blackwood looked at Silas Blackwood in surprise. "Alright? What’s so alright about it? She’s the culprit! She’s just trying to stir up trouble."
Silas Blackwood ignored his mother and said to Ivy Sherwood, "I’ll cooperate with you, as long as you can expose the person responsible."
’Ivy knew she didn’t do this, and she certainly wasn’t going to take the blame for it. She had to make Anna Nash confess.’
A short while later, Anna Nash was brought to the hospital by men from the Blackwood family.
The moment he saw Anna Nash, Silas Blackwood’s eyes filled with hatred again. He looked like he wanted to pounce on her and tear her to shreds.
"It was you! It had to be you!"
Right now, Silas Blackwood was like a rabid dog, ready to bite anyone who came near.
Anna Nash still had that same pitiful, innocent look about her. It seemed she’d been living quite well recently; not only had she not lost any weight, she’d actually gained a little.
Her acting skills were as superb as ever. The moment she saw Silas Blackwood, her eyes instantly welled up with tears.
"Silas, what happened? Are you hurt? Are you sick? Is it serious?"
Anna Nash’s tone was filled with worry and concern. Before, Silas Blackwood would have found her adorable and genuine.
But now that he knew it was all an act, the sight of her made him sick to his stomach. ’How can that face be so revolting, so utterly detestable?’
"Get lost!" Silas Blackwood shoved her away. "Anna Nash, how could you be so cruel?"
Seeing her now, Silas was certain. ’It was definitely her.’
Just yesterday, Anna Nash had called him, begging him to marry her, but he had refused.
’That woman is a lunatic,’ he thought. ’When she snaps, it’s terrifying. She’s capable of anything.’
She and Ivy Sherwood used to be best friends, yet she’d plotted against Ivy so viciously. It only made sense that she would plot against him to get what she wanted.
"Silas, I don’t understand what you’re saying," Anna pleaded. "Silas, I really didn’t know you were in the hospital. Someone brought me here."
Anna then turned to look at Ivy Sherwood. "Ivy Sherwood, did you do something to Silas?"
"That’s right," Ivy Sherwood said deliberately. "Your beloved Silas had you brought here to abort the baby in your womb. He doesn’t want it."
Anna Nash froze. ’That’s impossible.’
’She had given clear instructions to the person who carried out the attack yesterday: it had to be severe, enough to ensure Silas Blackwood could never function as a man again.’
’Gideon Gordon’s men had already checked; there was no way Silas was still capable. That meant the baby in her belly was his only possible heir.’
’Even though she knew the child wasn’t his, if she said it was, the Blackwoods would have no choice but to believe it.’
"Silas, that’s not true! You can’t do this to me."
Caleb Blackwood played his part perfectly. "Take her to the operating room."
"What are you doing? Why are you taking me to an operating room?" Anna Nash struggled.
Ivy said, "For an abortion, of course. The man you’re so obsessed with doesn’t want this baby. He wants to get rid of it."
Seeing that they weren’t bluffing, Anna Nash struggled and shouted, "Let me go!"
She dropped the act, her true colors showing. "If you abort this child, you’ll regret it! This is the only heir the Blackwood family will ever have! Silas Blackwood, you can’t have any more children! If you get rid of this one, the Blackwood family line dies with you!"
"Anna Nash! So it really was you!" Silas Blackwood’s fists clenched.
With nothing left to lose, Anna threw all caution to the wind. "So what if it was me? You all forced my hand! Silas, I love you so much! All I ever wanted was to marry you! What was so wrong with that?"
"But what about you all? If I hadn’t gone into hiding, would you have left me alone? If I hadn’t done this, would you have spared my child?"
"You promised you would marry me! You said you loved me more than anyone! I gave you everything! And in the end, how did you treat me?"
Anna Nash smiled cruelly. "Silas, the baby in my belly is your only child now. If you don’t marry me, I’ll get rid of it. Then we’ll see who’s filled with regret, and I promise you, it won’t be me."
Her words silenced everyone from the Blackwood family.
Mrs. Blackwood, in particular, was overwhelmed with indignant rage. She raised her hand and lunged at Anna Nash. "You bitch! You goddamn bitch! I’ll kill you!"
Mrs. Blackwood unleashed all the fury she had previously failed to direct at Ivy Sherwood onto Anna Nash instead.
She was surprisingly strong, raining blows down on Anna Nash’s face and body.
Anna wasn’t scared. "Go on then, kill me! If you have the guts, kill me and the baby right here and now!"
The more Mrs. Blackwood struck her, the angrier she became, until she finally collapsed onto the hospital bed, sobbing uncontrollably.
’What have we done to deserve this? What terrible karma is this?’
It was quite a spectacle, but Ivy Sherwood had no intention of watching any longer.
She quietly slipped out of the hospital room, surprised to see Quentin Blackwood leaving at the same time.
They got into the elevator together. Neither spoke. The silence was palpable, the atmosphere undeniably awkward.
Ivy Sherwood stared straight ahead, not daring to let her eyes wander.
Her heart was pounding. She was still nervous around Quentin Blackwood.
As the elevator descended, floor by floor, Ivy finally worked up the courage to speak. "Thank you for what you did back there."
’Quentin Blackwood had spoken up for her. Otherwise, Caleb Blackwood might have continued to give her a hard time.’
Quentin Blackwood’s voice was as flat and indifferent as ever. "For what?"
"If it weren’t for you, Caleb Blackwood wouldn’t have been so cooperative."
Quentin said, "I didn’t do anything. And like I said, I just came to see if my nephew was dead or not."
The man’s presence was incredibly intimidating. Ivy could only nod.
The elevator continued its descent. Time seemed to speed up; they had barely exchanged a few words before it arrived on the ground floor.
Quentin Blackwood remained standing in place as Ivy stepped out of the elevator first.
"Well, I’ll be going now," Ivy said.
She had only taken a couple of steps when Quentin Blackwood’s voice came from behind her. "Remember to wash my clothes and return them."
Ivy was surprised he even remembered the clothes. ’With a wardrobe like his, I thought he wouldn’t want this one back.’
"Okay. I’ll have them washed and sent over to you."
"I don’t let strangers touch my clothes."
Ivy understood. "So I’ll wash them myself. No dry cleaners. Got it."
Quentin glanced at her. Remembering his words about not letting strangers touch his things, Ivy added, "And I’ll bring them to you myself. Is that alright?"
Quentin didn’t say anything, simply turning and heading toward the parking lot.
Ivy’s car was also parked nearby. She was just about to head over when a man’s voice called out from behind her, "Ivy."
Ivy stopped in her tracks. She hadn’t expected to see Seth Scott here.
"Seth Scott?" Ivy asked, surprised. "What are you doing at the hospital? Are you sick?"
At that same moment, the man up ahead, who had been striding toward his car, noticeably slowed his pace.
