Chapter 22: Chapter 22: Ultimate Intimacy
The next morning, Ivy Sherwood supported her aching back, barely able to even get up.
They’d agreed she could push him away if she didn’t want to continue, but in the end, Ivy couldn’t push him away no matter how hard she tried.
Quentin Blackwood was simply too intense. He gripped her waist, seeming to have an inexhaustible supply of energy.
When she said no, Quentin would just bite the base of her ear, his voice, thick with masculine hormones, whispering right next to it, asking if this wasn’t what she’d wanted all along.
The moment Ivy sat on the desk, Quentin Blackwood swept all the documents onto the floor. Besides the desk, the floor-to-ceiling window, the nearby sofa, and the bedroom all bore traces of their pleasure.
His hand gripped her neck in a moment of extreme passion.
Quentin even wanted to turn on the lights, but Ivy stopped him.
Ivy pressed close to his ear. "I’m afraid you’ll lose interest if you see my face, Uncle."
At that moment, she felt Quentin’s body stiffen.
She thought he’d lost his drive at the thought of her face, but to her surprise, the next second, Quentin only became more forceful.
Ivy herself didn’t even know when it finally ended.
All she knew was that whenever she was conscious, Quentin was still growling in her ear.
He was like a starving wolf that had caught its prey, refusing to let go, refusing to stop until he had devoured it completely.
Ivy was truly scared now. ’Thinking back, Quentin had probably been holding back last time, considering it was my first,’ she thought.
But this time, he showed no restraint at all.
When Ivy woke up and saw the number of used condoms beside the bed, she was shocked.
Dawn was just breaking, and it seemed Quentin had only fallen asleep a short while ago.
Afraid of waking the man, Ivy didn’t dare turn on the lights. She tiptoed out of bed, picked up the clothes Quentin had prepared for her last night, and put them on.
It was a complete set of clothes, including lingerie, and the size was a perfect fit. ’To think we’ve only spent one night together, and Quentin already knows my size so well!’
After getting dressed, she quietly opened the door and quietly left.
Once outside the hotel, the rain had stopped. Ivy didn’t breathe a sigh of relief until she was sitting in a taxi.
’Looks like I’ll have to carry my makeup with me at all times from now on,’ she thought. ’Quentin probably didn’t see my face, right?’
Ivy returned to her own home and took a quick shower.
’No wonder Silas Blackwood is always out looking for women to do this with. It actually feels pretty good!’
As Ivy was getting dressed after her shower, she discovered that the skin below her neck was densely covered in bluish-purple marks—some from being gripped, others from being sucked.
There were even two trails of marks on her neck. Ivy applied a thick layer of foundation to cover them. She had to go to the company today, and it wouldn’t do for anyone else to see them!
...
Thea Sherwood slept until ten in the morning. Only after putting on a full face of beautiful makeup did she have her driver take her to the company.
As soon as she arrived, she saw her assistant, Amy, waiting anxiously at the company entrance.
Seeing Thea, Amy rushed forward. "Ms. Sherwood, why are you just getting here? Something terrible has happened!"
Thea was unconcerned. "What could have happened? Even if the sky were falling, isn’t Dad here to hold it up?"
"It’s Ivy Sherwood! She came to your office first thing this morning, had someone throw all your things out, and now she’s taken it over!"
"What!" Thea’s expression changed. "Why didn’t you tell me sooner!"
Amy looked innocent. "I called you many times, but you didn’t answer."
Besides, Thea had told her not to call unless it was an emergency; she didn’t handle company matters!
Thea rushed upstairs. When she reached the perfumery department, she saw that her office had been completely emptied. And sitting in the seat that belonged to her was that detestable woman.
"Ivy Sherwood, get out of there! What right do you have to sit in my seat!" Thea was practically dying of anger.
"Your seat? Didn’t HR notify you? It’s my seat now."
"What did you say? That’s impossible!" ’What right does Ivy have to take my seat?’
"Get up! Get out of here!" Thea moved to pull Ivy up.
"Regardless of the position, shouldn’t it go to whoever is most capable? You know better than I do whether I’m fit for this seat. But you, on the other hand... do you think you’re worthy?"
"You!" Her weak spot struck, Thea flew into a rage. "You bitch! Bitch!"
"Thea Sherwood, acting like this, you really look like a shrew."
Ivy crossed her legs. "If you can secure the follow-up contract with the Carter Group, I’ll gladly give this seat back to you."
"You!"
"What’s so great about you? Who knows what tricks you pulled to get that contract. I heard President Walker asked you to a hotel last night. Don’t tell me you spent the whole night with him? Does Silas know about this?"
Thea had barely finished speaking when a glass of water was thrown in her face.
Ivy put down the water glass. "Consider it a brainwash, so you won’t have your mind filled with such filth all day."
"You!" Thea felt utterly humiliated. Besides, so many people were watching. It was mortifying! She had completely lost face.
She stomped her foot in anger, pointing at Ivy. "You just wait!"
"I’ll be right here waiting." There wasn’t a trace of fear in Ivy’s eyes.
...
In the president’s office at the Sherwood Company, Thea pushed the door open and barged in, ignoring the other people present.
"Dad! Ivy is bullying me! Aren’t you going to do something about it?"
Timothy Sherwood waved his hand, dismissing the others from his office.
"Thea, what’s wrong?"
At this point, the signed contract between the Sherwood Company and the Carter Group was already in Timothy Sherwood’s hands.
Timothy hadn’t expected Ivy to actually have some skill, to have managed to secure this contract.
With this, the Sherwood Company had solved its funding problems for the next quarter.
"Dad!" Thea stormed toward Timothy’s desk. "Ivy took over my office! Did you approve this?"
"My dear daughter, what happened? You’re all wet." Timothy quickly grabbed some tissues to dry Thea off.
"Thea, I promised her before. If she secured the contract with the Carter Group, I’d let her have your position. I didn’t think she’d actually be able to do it!"
"What right does Ivy Sherwood have? If she takes my position, where do I go? Dad, you can’t be biased! You can’t let me be wronged like this!"
Ivy was just a team leader in the planning department before, and now she’s suddenly a manager.
"There are other manager positions in other departments. How about I arrange for you to take one of those?"
"No! Being a manager would put me on the same level as Ivy. Dad, I remember the Director position is still vacant, right? Dad, since it’s empty anyway, why don’t you let me have it?"
The Director position was much higher than a manager’s. A Director oversees several departments and several managers!
"Thea, being a Director is no joke. You’re still young. How about in a few years?"
"No, I want it now! Dad, don’t forget that my mom deserves credit for the company growing this large. If it weren’t for my mother’s godfather, how could the company have ever reached its current scale!"
"Thea, this..."
But Thea was furious. She pushed Timothy away and stormed out of the office. "I get it! In your heart, you don’t care about me as your daughter at all!"
