Chapter 204: Chapter 204: Anna Nash’s Live Apology Is All Part of Ivy Sherwood’s Plan
After a while, Ivy Sherwood finally tapped on Quentin Blackwood’s contact and sent two words: "Thank you."
Thanking him for coming to take care of her yesterday.
Quentin Blackwood replied after a moment: "Sleep soon."
"You haven’t slept yet?"
"Still have some work to do."
’He’s still working this late. No wonder he’s so successful.’
Ivy Sherwood’s fingers tapped on the screen, returning Quentin Blackwood’s two words to him: "Sleep soon."
Quentin Blackwood replied: "Mm."
’Brief and to the point. That was definitely Quentin Blackwood’s style.’
"Don’t go to the office tomorrow. Stay home and rest," Quentin Blackwood sent another message.
"And don’t order takeout. I’ll have someone bring food over."
"I’ll be sure to rest, but you don’t need to send food. I think someone is coming to cook for me."
"Who?"
Ivy Sherwood looked at the single word and replied: "Nina."
’She had a feeling Nina would come.’
Quentin Blackwood didn’t even realize that for a split second, his heart had leaped into his throat. He only breathed a sigh of relief after seeing the name.
"Thank you for cooking for me and tutoring me yesterday. You worked hard, Professor Blackwood. If I have more questions in the future, can I still ask you?"
Quentin Blackwood stared at the words "Professor Blackwood," and the image of Ivy Sherwood in a school uniform from the last time she was drunk involuntarily surfaced in his mind.
’He might not have looked much like a professor, but Ivy Sherwood had certainly looked like a student back then.’
’He kind of wanted to see her wear it again.’
Quentin Blackwood pushed aside the stray thoughts in his mind and saw that because he hadn’t replied for a while, Ivy Sherwood had sent another message.
"It’s okay if it’s not convenient."
"You can."
Seeing Quentin Blackwood agree, Ivy Sherwood’s heart leaped with joy.
She didn’t bother Quentin Blackwood any further. But now she was wide awake. She lay there, phone in hand, staring at the ceiling and smiling foolishly to herself for a moment before deciding to get up and do some work.
The next morning, Ivy Sherwood’s cold was much better. Her head no longer felt dizzy, and her voice wasn’t hoarse anymore.
She had slept a lot the day before, so after waking up in the middle of the night, she hadn’t been able to fall back asleep.
She sat up and handled some work, then read for a while.
When morning came, she went to heat up yesterday’s leftovers and porridge for breakfast.
Just then, there was a knock on the door.
Ivy Sherwood walked over and saw Nina Scott’s confused face on the smart lock’s camera.
Ivy Sherwood opened the door to find Nina Scott bent over, still studying the lock.
"Ivy, you’re up so early."
"It’s not that early, it’s already eight o’clock. Come on in," Ivy Sherwood said, letting Nina Scott inside.
Ivy Sherwood wasn’t surprised to see Nina Scott at all.
’She knew Nina would come today.’
She and Nina were very close. When Nina Scott had been sick before, it was Ivy Sherwood who had carried her to the hospital on her back, stayed with her while she got shots and an IV drip, and meticulously cared for her.
Nina Scott first peeked her head inside, a strange look on her face. "Is it... a good time for me to come in?"
"Why wouldn’t it be?"
Only then did Nina Scott step inside. "I was just worried you might not be alone."
She’d heard from Seth Scott yesterday that Quentin Blackwood was here. Her foolish brother had probably been given the cold shoulder.
She had told Seth not to go, but he insisted on coming anyway.
"Why’d you change the lock?" Nina Scott used to have her fingerprint and the passcode registered, so she could let herself in if Ivy wasn’t home.
Just now, when she went to enter the passcode, she realized Ivy’s lock seemed to be different and almost thought she’d come to the wrong apartment.
"Quentin Blackwood changed it."
"Huh? Why would he change it? It’s not to keep me out, is it? Are you two planning on doing R-rated things in here, and what if I suddenly barge in..."
"What are you thinking!" Ivy Sherwood poked Nina Scott on the head before explaining what had happened the day before.
"Oh, so that’s what happened. So, did Quentin Blackwood take care of you all night? Did he stay over? Nothing happened between you two, right?" As she spoke, Nina Scott deliberately craned her neck to inspect Ivy Sherwood’s.
’There don’t seem to be any hickeys. What a shame!’
"Of course not. He left after I fell asleep yesterday. Nothing happened."
"I was deliberately trying to create an opportunity for you two yesterday. I didn’t come because I knew he was here. You’re not mad, are you? I’ve been so busy lately, I didn’t even know you were sick."
"It was just a little cold, nothing serious. I know you care about me more than anyone!" Ivy Sherwood said, hugging Nina Scott.
"Have you had breakfast? Want to join me?" Ivy asked.
"Sure! I even bought groceries to make you breakfast, but you’ve already started." After putting the groceries she brought in the fridge, Nina Scott sat down without any hesitation.
Ivy Sherwood ladled some porridge for her and handed it over. Nina Scott tried one of the dishes on the table, and her expression froze.
"Ivy, you shouldn’t be cooking when you’re sick. These dishes are totally bland. Have you lost your sense of taste completely?" Nina Scott assumed Ivy had made them.
Ivy Sherwood was speechless. "..."
"It’s not *that* bad, is it?" she asked, though she hadn’t been able to taste much of anything herself.
"Just wait, I’ll whip up a couple more dishes for you." With that, Nina Scott headed to the kitchen.
Nina Scott had been switched at birth and grew up in the countryside before being returned to her family. As the saying goes, children from poor families learn to be independent early. Nina had learned to cook at a very young age and often cooked for herself over the years, so her skills were excellent.
Soon, two new dishes were brought to the table, and they looked delicious.
Ivy Sherwood cleared the table, putting the dishes Quentin Blackwood had made back into the refrigerator.
Nina Scott said, "You should probably just throw those out. I’ll make you more for lunch."
As Ivy Sherwood put them in the fridge, she said, "It’s still food. We shouldn’t waste it."
Nina Scott was puzzled. "I’ve never known you to be so frugal."
The two of them ate the breakfast Nina Scott had made. Ivy Sherwood had originally planned to go to the office, but Nina insisted she stay home and rest.
Nina Scott decided not to go to work today either, choosing to stay and keep Ivy company.
Nina Scott was lounging on the sofa playing on her phone, while Ivy Sherwood read a book nearby.
Nina Scott suddenly sat up, her expression shocked. "Ivy! Ivy! Quick, look at MicroBlog! That little bitch Anna Nash is livestreaming!"
"Is she?" Ivy Sherwood put down her book and picked up her phone.
’I didn’t expect Anna Nash to move so quickly,’ Ivy thought. ’I only mentioned it yesterday, and she’s already taking action today.’
"What the hell! What is she trying to pull?" Nina Scott said, watching the livestream angrily.
On the livestream, Anna Nash was in the middle of apologizing to Ivy Sherwood. Her makeup was done to make her face look pale and her eyes red and swollen, as if she were the victim.
The point was, she was apologizing in front of the media, making a huge spectacle of it.
With tears streaming down her face, Anna Nash said, "Ivy used to be my best friend. We were so close, and I truly cherished our friendship. I don’t know what she’s thinking now, but to me, she will always be my friend."
"Her grades weren’t good, so I often helped her study. She didn’t have many friends, so I was always by her side. My family was poor, so I was always working odd jobs to pay for tuition and living expenses, but I would still share half of my food with her. Even Silas... he was actually with me first."
"That’s complete bullshit!" Nina Scott was even more furious than Ivy. "Who had bad grades? If you hadn’t tutored her, would she have even gotten into college? If you hadn’t hung out with her, would she have had any friends? She worked a summer job with you, slacked off and pushed all the work onto you, and when you two got yelled at, she made you take the fall! Then she complained she didn’t have enough money and I caught her stealing from you, and she still had the nerve to cry and claim she was being framed!"
Nina Scott was about to explode with anger. If Anna Nash were standing in front of her right now, she would have slapped her twice without a second thought.
"And another thing! How would she have even met Silas Blackwood if it weren’t for you? She was the shameless one! After your engagement to Silas was announced, he came to find you. She saw you two arguing and used it as an opportunity to shamelessly seduce him."
