Chapter 162: Chapter 162: Worldview Shattered
Ivy Sherwood leaned against the door, her brow furrowed slightly. "I’m not trying to burn my bridges. I was serious when I said I’d contact you later, President Blackwood. But President Blackwood, I really do have something else to do right now. How about we talk another time?"
Just then, she felt a push against the door. Luckily, she was blocking it, or it might have been pushed right open.
Nina Scott’s voice came from outside. "Hmm? Weird, why is the door locked?"
"Ivy—" Nina Scott started to ask if Ivy Sherwood was inside, but she had only said one word before Ivy Sherwood opened the door a crack.
Seeing Ivy Sherwood inside, Nina Scott found it even stranger. But that didn’t matter. What mattered was the video on her phone. Nina Scott was so excited that her voice grew louder. "Didn’t I tell you last time that I saw Quentin Blackwood getting intimate with someone in the restroom? Well, this time I saw something even more explosive!"
Ivy Sherwood: "!!"
Ivy Sherwood had no idea if Quentin Blackwood, who was still inside, had heard. ’Nina’s voice is way too loud.’
She glanced at Quentin Blackwood and saw that he was looking at her, too.
In this tiny dressing room, there was nowhere to hide, and Quentin Blackwood certainly wasn’t the type to.
If Quentin Blackwood saw Nina Scott, it could easily expose her identity. She was truly stuck between a rock and a hard place now.
"Why don’t we go inside to talk? I even have a video," Nina Scott suggested. It wouldn’t be good if someone else overheard them playing it out here.
Ivy Sherwood squeezed her body through the small crack in the door, then quickly shut it, locking both herself and Nina Scott outside.
"What’s wrong, Ivy—" Before Nina Scott could finish, Ivy Sherwood quickly clamped a hand over her mouth.
"Nina, I need to use the restroom. Come with me." With that, Ivy Sherwood started pulling Nina Scott toward the restrooms.
"But I just went. Why don’t I wait for you in the room?"
"No!" Ivy Sherwood forcibly dragged Nina Scott away.
’I hope Quentin Blackwood has the sense to leave quickly.’
Ivy Sherwood was also a little worried. She was afraid she couldn’t keep her secret hidden. If Quentin Blackwood found out she was Ivy Sherwood, it would definitely cause a lot of trouble.
It wasn’t so scary if Quentin Blackwood found out. The terrifying part would be if Silas Blackwood found out.
Silas Blackwood disliked her now, so there was still a chance to call off the engagement. If his side were to agree to the marriage and insist on it, that would make things even more difficult.
"Don’t you need to use the restroom? Why are you walking so slowly?" Nina Scott said, looking at Ivy Sherwood’s pace.
"I... what were you about to tell me just now?" Ivy Sherwood quickly changed the subject.
At the mention of this, Nina Scott forgot everything else. "I just came from the restroom. Guess what I saw?"
"What?"
"Something even more outrageous than what happened at the racetrack. I saw Thea Sherwood!"
Hearing Thea Sherwood’s name, Ivy Sherwood was surprised. "Thea Sherwood is here too?"
"Right? You’re surprised too. I saw that green tea bitch when I was watching the show. That damn bitch even tripped me, which made me..."
Here, Nina Scott paused. "But let’s not talk about that. That’s not the point. The point is, with the Sherwood Company’s level of influence, how could they possibly get into a show like this? Thea Sherwood was sitting next to some old guy at the time, but I didn’t pay him any mind."
"Later, I went to the restroom and caught Thea Sherwood and that old man doing... *that kind of thing* in one of the stalls!"
"And as luck would have it, I even took a video." Nina Scott played the video, and Ivy Sherwood immediately recognized the man: Charlie Rhodes.
’When I saw Charlie Rhodes earlier, I should have realized Thea Sherwood might be here too.’
She just hadn’t expected that Charlie Rhodes would come looking for her one moment, and then drag Thea Sherwood off to... the next.
"Don’t you think Thea Sherwood’s tastes are a bit extreme? How can she stomach that? That geezer must be in his seventies, right?"
After saying this, Nina Scott looked at Ivy Sherwood’s expression. "Ivy, why don’t you look surprised at all?"
"Because I already knew about it," Ivy Sherwood said.
"You knew?" Nina Scott’s eyes nearly popped out of her head. "Since when? How could you not tell me about gossip this juicy involving Thea Sherwood?"
"The man’s name is Charlie Rhodes. He’s Ruby Sterling’s godfather," Ivy Sherwood said.
Nina Scott covered her mouth. "What? Then doesn’t that make him Thea Sherwood’s god-grandfather?"
’Thea Sherwood’s tastes aren’t just extreme anymore, this is just perverse!’
"So, do Timothy Sherwood and Ruby Sterling know about this?" Nina Scott asked.
Ivy Sherwood nodded. "They know. They’re the ones who arranged it."
Nina Scott: "..."
’Oh my god, what kind of earth-shattering gossip did I just hear? How can people like that exist in this world?’
"Quick, tell me everything. What exactly happened?"
Ivy Sherwood briefly explained the situation to Nina Scott. After listening, Nina felt like her entire worldview was being shattered.
"Is Thea Sherwood brainless? It’s one thing not to call the police after being assaulted, but to actually get together with that old man? Is money really that important? Important enough to make someone sell themselves?"
Ivy Sherwood shook her head. "I don’t know. Everyone thinks differently. We can’t control what others do, we can only make sure we don’t become like them."
Nina Scott nodded. "Exactly. We’re not like that at all. We can earn our own money. And she doesn’t even feel disgusted by money earned that way."
Nina Scott was about to be sick with disgust. Still, Thea Sherwood probably didn’t want anyone to know about this. But just her luck, Nina had video proof. ’Let’s see how Thea tries to act so high and mighty in front of me now.’
Nina Scott was still outside the restroom, processing everything, while Ivy Sherwood washed her hands inside.
When Nina Scott started to head for the dressing room, Ivy Sherwood stopped her. "The show’s over, right? But isn’t there still the judging? Aren’t you going to see what place you got?"
Nina Scott had almost forgotten about that. "Oh, right! I’ll go check. You go back to the lounge and wait for me."
Ivy Sherwood nodded. She deliberately killed some time outside, took a deep breath, and only then returned to the dressing room.
Inside the dressing room, Quentin Blackwood was gone. On the vanity, he had left behind a single, gold-foiled business card.
The name "Quentin Blackwood" looked formal and serious.
Below the printed contact information was a string of numbers handwritten in fountain pen ink. The ink was still a little wet, looking like it had just been written. It was Quentin Blackwood’s private number.
Very few people knew Quentin Blackwood’s private number. Ivy Sherwood tucked the business card into her bag.
Her phone was still in the drawer. Ivy Sherwood took it out and only then saw the message Nina Scott had sent her, saying Quentin Blackwood was here.
Ivy Sherwood nearly fainted. ’Couldn’t Nina have sent that one minute earlier?’
Then she wouldn’t have gone on stage completely unprepared, only to be caught off guard by the sight of that man.
But it was fine. It was all in the past now. Thankfully, Quentin Blackwood hadn’t given her a hard time.
Still, the way Quentin Blackwood had pressed close to her, deliberately teasing her by her ear... ’Is he like that with every woman?’
After all, he thought her name was Wendy Summers. To him, she was just a stranger he had only met a few times, not Ivy Sherwood, the woman he had been intimate with.
A strange feeling rose in Ivy Sherwood. She couldn’t quite put her finger on it, but it felt like a faint ache, a tightness in her chest.
