Chapter 140: Chapter 140: Do You Have Different Feelings for Quentin Blackwood

"You’re overthinking things. I’m not trying to control you."

Joy Sheridan knew Quentin Blackwood didn’t like to be touched, so she didn’t dare grab his sleeve.

"You always say the opposite of what you mean. Didn’t you come here for me? Why don’t we go for a race? I haven’t seen you race in so long. I’ll ride shotgun, okay? Take me for a spin?"

Seeing this play out, Ivy Sherwood took Nina Scott by the hand. "Come on. Let’s not disturb them."

"Ivy..." Nina Scott sounded a little worried.

As Ivy Sherwood’s friend, she could tell that even though Ivy looked perfectly normal, her spirits had clearly fallen.

"Are you okay?"

"I’m fine. Why do you ask?" Ivy Sherwood looked up, her eyes clear and bright, seeming completely unaffected.

"It’s nothing. It’s just... that Joy Sheridan gives off a very aggressive vibe. It’s like she’s constantly trying to prove something. And her methods are ruthless. The first thing she did was use Cheryl Yates to send a message to anyone who might want to get close to Quentin Blackwood."

From that brief encounter alone, Nina Scott could tell this woman was not to be underestimated.

What’s more, she had the backing of the Sheridan family. Old Master Sheridan was known to dote on Joy Sheridan like she was the apple of his eye.

"Right. We just need to stay away from her," Ivy Sherwood said.

"Ivy, don’t tell me you’re..."

"I’m not!" Ivy Sherwood’s denial was immediate.

"I haven’t even said what it is, and you’re already denying it." Ivy’s subtle reaction made Nina Scott suspicious.

"Quentin Blackwood is..."

"He really is a menace," Ivy Sherwood said.

’So many women were in love with Quentin Blackwood, causing her endless trouble for no good reason. He was basically a male vixen, a beautiful disaster!’

Nina Scott didn’t know the history between Ivy Sherwood and Quentin Blackwood, but she guessed, "Ivy, do you have some sort of special feelings for Quentin Blackwood?"

"And by feelings, I don’t necessarily mean love. Just a good impression, that sort of thing. Quentin Blackwood is definitely the type to make hearts flutter, so it wouldn’t be strange if you fell for him."

"I don’t! Nina, don’t say things like that. It would be bad if someone overheard."

"Fine. Let’s go find Cheryl Yates first!" First, they had to take care of Cheryl Yates.

Ivy Sherwood and Nina Scott searched everywhere for Cheryl Yates but couldn’t find her. Anyone who’d done something so awful would definitely go into hiding; for all they knew, she’d already run off.

"Ivy, what do we do now? She’s definitely too scared to show her face."

"Do you have Cheryl Yates’s phone number?" Ivy Sherwood asked.

Nina Scott said, "I don’t, but I can get it for you."

A moment later, Nina Scott had Cheryl Yates’s number.

Ivy Sherwood sent a text message, then turned to Nina Scott and said, "Let’s go."

"Where to?" Nina Scott asked, confused.

’Did she already find out where Cheryl Yates is?’

"The parking lot," Ivy Sherwood said, walking ahead.

Nina Scott asked, "You know Cheryl Yates is in the parking lot?"

"No, I told her to meet us there."

"You think she’ll come just because you told her to? She’s not an idiot." Nina Scott was convinced Cheryl Yates wouldn’t show.

Ivy Sherwood only said three words: "She will come."

For some reason, Nina Scott felt that Ivy’s three words carried immense weight. She trusted Ivy unconditionally; if Ivy said she would come, then she would definitely come.

When they got to the parking lot, Nina Scott didn’t see Cheryl Yates anywhere. She looked around and asked, "Ivy, how are you so sure she’ll come? What did you write in your text to her?"

"It’s simple. If she doesn’t come, I’ll release the photos," Ivy Sherwood said, perfectly calm.

"What photos?" Nina Scott had no idea what she was talking about.

"The ones Joy Sheridan took."

It all clicked for Nina Scott. ’Ah, so that’s how it is! Cheryl Yates came after Ivy because she thought Ivy was the one who took the photos, not knowing it was actually Joy Sheridan.’

’So now Ivy is using the photos to blackmail her. She’s afraid they’ll be released, so she has to come!’

Sure enough, a few moments later, Cheryl Yates came rushing over. "Ivy Sherwood! What do you think you’re doing?!"

"What do we want? What do you *think* we want? Cheryl Yates, when you tampered with our brakes, did you ever consider that we might not crash?" Nina Scott cracked her knuckles, itching to slap the woman across the face.

Cheryl Yates bit her lip. "I don’t know what you’re talking about."

"It’s fine if you don’t understand. Since you’re here, Miss Yates, it must be fate. Why not join us for a lap?" A cold smile touched Ivy Sherwood’s lips.

"Since you claim you didn’t tamper with our car, Miss Yates, why don’t you drive this gray race car? How about it?"

"No! Why should I?!" Cheryl Yates’s face was a mask of guilt, and she flat-out refused to drive.

’Ivy Sherwood and her friend were lucky, but if she herself got in, her luck might not be so good.’

’This was a race car. Who would dare drive a race car with no brakes?’

Cheryl Yates had been in the stands and had witnessed the whole thing. She’d nearly had a heart attack from the shock.

There was no way she was getting in that car.

"Ivy Sherwood, if there’s a problem with your car, what proof do you have that I did it?" Cheryl Yates was not about to confess.

Ivy Sherwood pulled open the driver’s side door and got into the driver’s seat of the gray sports car. "Get in, or I release the photos. You choose."

Cheryl Yates bit her lip hard. Those were private, naked photos of her. If they were released, her life would be over.

’If Ivy Sherwood dared to get in this car, then why shouldn’t she?’

And so, Cheryl Yates chose to get in the car, sliding into the passenger seat.

Before she could even buckle her seatbelt, the race car shot forward.

"AH!" Cheryl Yates gripped the door handle, scared out of her wits.

Ivy Sherwood drove at a terrifying speed, asking as she sped along, "Was it you who tampered with the brake pads?"

Before Cheryl Yates could answer, Ivy Sherwood said, "I suggest you think carefully before you answer. If you lie, I don’t mind going a little faster. After all, if we hit a guardrail or flip over, neither of us is getting away."

"I don’t mind, personally. I might as well be reincarnated. But you, Miss Yates... you might not be so lucky in your next life. Even if you don’t die, you’ll probably be crippled. Imagine spending the rest of your days lying in a bed."

As she spoke, Ivy Sherwood did indeed speed up. The surrounding trees and bushes blurred into phantoms flashing past their eyes.

Ivy’s driving was also deliberately unstable. With each successive drift, Cheryl Yates felt like she was about to be flung out of the car.

Her face was pale, as if she’d been scared witless, and the sheer speed was making her stomach churn with nausea.

"It was me! I had someone cut your and Nina Scott’s brake pads! Ivy Sherwood, you may not care about your life, but I care about mine! Slow down!"

Ivy Sherwood replied, "You know as well as I do that the brake pads are cut. I can’t slow down."

As they approached a sharp turn, Ivy Sherwood deliberately aimed for the barrier. "Oops, we’re going to hit it!"

Seeing the guardrail rushing toward them, Cheryl Yates’s eyes rolled back in her head, and she fainted dead away from sheer terror.

But just a second before impact, Ivy Sherwood wrenched the steering wheel, executing a perfect, stylish drift to navigate the turn smoothly.

After two more laps, Ivy Sherwood pulled back into the parking lot. Nina Scott rushed over. "Ivy, what about Cheryl Yates?"

"She fainted," Ivy Sherwood said.

This gray car merely looked like the one she had driven at the start; it wasn’t the same vehicle.

There was nothing wrong with the brakes. She had deliberately misled Cheryl Yates to frighten her.

’Who would have thought Cheryl Yates would be so easy to scare.’

"Nina, I’m going to go change," Ivy Sherwood said. She wasn’t planning on racing anymore and just wanted to get out of her driving suit.

"You go on ahead. I’m going to record a little more of Cheryl Yates in her pathetic state," Nina Scott said, taking out her phone.

The changing rooms were on the other side, so Ivy Sherwood went alone.

Just as Ivy Sherwood stepped inside, a tall figure followed close behind. He clapped a hand over her mouth and pulled her into a nearby stall.
