Chapter 128: Chapter 128: He’s My Cousin-Uncle, Remarried with Two Kids

Quentin Blackwood said nothing, just finished the drink in his glass and stood up.

"Didn’t you promise Julian Grant you’d take me home?"

’Huh?’ Ivy Sherwood had only been sitting for two minutes, and Quentin Blackwood was already leaving?

’Besides, hadn’t Young Master Grant asked her to come over and explain things in person?’

’Somehow, this felt more like she was the one here to explain things to Quentin Blackwood.’

Quentin Blackwood walked outside, and Ivy Sherwood followed.

The two of them walked downstairs side by side. However, Cheryl Yates, who was just coming out of her private room, happened to see them.

Cheryl Yates was heartbroken to learn that Quentin Blackwood was seeing a woman, so she had called a few of her girlfriends to go out drinking.

Feeling a little sick, she had just stepped out for some fresh air when she saw the two of them.

’Was that Ivy Sherwood and Quentin Blackwood?’

’Why were those two together?’

Deep jealousy filled Cheryl Yates’s eyes. She wanted to rush over, pull Ivy Sherwood away, and take her place beside Quentin Blackwood!

Cheryl Yates took out her phone and snapped a photo of the scene. She even followed them outside and watched Quentin Blackwood and Ivy Sherwood get into the same car.

’That Ivy Sherwood... she isn’t planning to take advantage of Quentin Blackwood while he’s drunk, is she?’

’Ivy Sherwood’s real target must actually be Quentin Blackwood, right?’

’She deliberately made trouble for me, refused to help me meet Quentin Blackwood, and wouldn’t give me his contact info. It can only mean Ivy Sherwood has her own agenda. She’s using her status as Silas Blackwood’s fiancée to get more chances to see Quentin Blackwood than anyone else, seizing every little opportunity.’

She was taking any chance she could get to put on a show for Quentin Blackwood.

Cheryl Yates sent the photos she had taken to Silas Blackwood. "This is your fiancée, isn’t it? Why is she having a secret rendezvous with your uncle so late at night?"

Silas Blackwood was already in bed, but when he saw what Cheryl Yates sent, he tensed.

’Ivy Sherwood and Quentin Blackwood, what the hell are they doing!’

He scrambled out of bed and rushed downstairs. Sylvia Blackwood was on the couch, eating chips and watching TV. Seeing her brother in such a hurry, she called out, "Bro, where are you going so late?"

Silas Blackwood was gone in a flash. Sylvia Blackwood munched on her chip. "What’s with him? He looks like he’s off to catch someone cheating."

Silas Blackwood called Ivy Sherwood several times, but she didn’t answer. He didn’t dare call Quentin Blackwood.

Just from the photos, he had no idea where Ivy Sherwood was going with Quentin Blackwood. Was it back to Norhaven, to her apartment, or a hotel?

After a moment’s thought, Silas Blackwood headed to Norhaven first.

Ivy Sherwood and Quentin Blackwood got into the car. Quentin sat in the passenger seat.

He wasn’t in the habit of letting a woman drive him, but he had been drinking.

Once in the car, Quentin Blackwood leaned back against the seat and closed his eyes.

"Quentin, your seatbelt," Ivy reminded him.

But Quentin Blackwood didn’t move, looking as if he had fallen asleep.

Ivy Sherwood remembered Julian Grant saying as he left that Quentin Blackwood had drunk quite a bit. ’Is he feeling unwell from drinking too much?’

Ivy Sherwood had no choice but to lean over and reach for the seatbelt on Quentin’s side. After fumbling for it and failing to find it, she had to lean in a little closer.

As a result, her entire body was right in front of Quentin Blackwood.

The faint, elegant scent exploded in Quentin Blackwood’s mind, and his eyes snapped open.

A moment later, Ivy Sherwood found the seatbelt. She immediately pulled back and buckled it for Quentin Blackwood.

Seeing Quentin Blackwood open his eyes, Ivy Sherwood explained, "You weren’t responding, so I buckled your seatbelt for you. Am I taking you back to Norhaven?"

Quentin Blackwood raised a hand, rubbed the bridge of his nose, and shielded his face.

His lips parted slightly. "Have you had dinner yet?"

"I haven’t had the chance. I’ll just make something simple when I get home."

"Then we’ll go to your place."

"To my place? Why?" Ivy Sherwood asked, confused.

"To freeload a meal."

Ivy Sherwood was speechless.

’I’ve never seen anyone freeload a meal so brazenly,’ she thought. Still, it didn’t matter if she was cooking for one more person; she had to cook for herself anyway.

When Ivy Sherwood got to her building, she stopped by the local market to buy some groceries.

One of the stalls was run by an old woman whose produce was mostly homegrown and fresher than anyone else’s. Ivy was a regular.

"What would you like to eat?" Ivy asked as they got out of the car.

"Anything is fine." Quentin Blackwood got out too, following behind Ivy.

"You don’t have to come. I can go by myself," Ivy said.

But Quentin Blackwood followed behind her anyway. Ivy didn’t say anything else. It was probably for the best; this way, he could see for himself if there was anything he wanted to eat.

The old woman recognized Ivy and greeted her warmly. "Ivy, dear! You haven’t been by to buy vegetables in a long time."

Ivy replied, "I’ve been busy lately, Granny, so I haven’t been cooking much."

"That’s how it is with you young people. You work so hard, but you have to look after your health," the granny said, her eyes shifting to Quentin Blackwood behind Ivy. "Is this your boyfriend? He’s more handsome than a movie star!"

"No, no, Granny, you’ve got it all wrong." Afraid Quentin Blackwood would be upset, Ivy explained hastily, "This is my distant uncle. He’s just here visiting."

The granny’s expression changed to one of understanding. "Your uncle is so handsome! Does he have a girlfriend? I have a granddaughter who’s about your age."

"Ah, no thanks, Granny. My uncle’s been married twice and has two kids. He’s not a good match for your granddaughter."

After she spoke, Ivy Sherwood noticed the dark look on Quentin Blackwood’s face and quickly said to the vendor, "Granny, could you weigh this for me, please?"

Ivy paid and quickly dragged Quentin Blackwood away.

Only after they were away from the stall did Quentin Blackwood start to settle the score.

"Distant uncle?"

"Married twice with two kids?"

"I told you not to come along," Ivy said. "If I hadn’t said that, the granny would have kept trying to set you up. It was just an expedient lie."

"Hah." Quentin Blackwood sneered.

"Let’s go, let’s go." Ivy pulled Quentin Blackwood upstairs.

"Make yourself at home. I’m going to start cooking," Ivy said as she carried the groceries into the kitchen.

This wasn’t Quentin Blackwood’s first time here, but he’d been drunk during his last visit. This was the first time he could really take in Ivy’s home.

It was a cozy little place, but she kept it clean and tidy. The warm color palette gave it a homey feeling, a complete contrast to the cold desolation of Norhaven.

His gaze shifted to Ivy in the kitchen. She had casually swept her hair up and was now reaching for a nearby apron.

The apron strings, tied around her waist, cinched in to accentuate her slender figure.

...

Silas Blackwood waited at Norhaven for a long time, but Quentin never returned. ’They didn’t come back to Norhaven... could they have gone to Ivy’s apartment?’

Silas Blackwood immediately got back in his car and drove to Ivy’s apartment complex.

’No matter what, I have to catch those two tonight!’

Silas Blackwood knew Ivy’s address but had never been to her apartment before. He found her unit and began pounding furiously on the door.

"Ivy, open the door!"

"Don’t just hide in there! I know you’re home!"

"You’ve got the nerve to meet up with other men, so you’d better have the nerve to open this door! Open up! Open the damn door!"

The shouting was so loud that even Ivy, who was in the kitchen, could hear it.

No matter who was at the door, this was not a good time to open it. She was just about to warn Quentin not to answer, but before she could, he had already opened the door...
