Chapter 121: Chapter 121: So You’re Using Me

Ivy Sherwood didn’t rush to answer Quentin Blackwood. Instead, she called out to Cheryl Yates.

She picked up the necklace and placed it in Cheryl Yates’s hand. "Miss Yates, if your things are so valuable, you shouldn’t be so careless with them."

Cheryl Yates snatched the necklace and stormed off.

In a good mood, Ivy Sherwood realized the call hadn’t ended. Remembering Quentin Blackwood’s question, she finally answered.

"I wasn’t trying to help with anything. I just don’t like her and wanted to piss her off."

’I didn’t expect a so-called noble lady from a prestigious family to have so many tricks up her sleeve.’

’I used to think that people like Cheryl Yates and Thea Sherwood weren’t in the same category, but it looks like they’re all the same.’

"So, you were using me?" Quentin Blackwood’s voice was unreadable.

"I suppose so. I owe you one for this. The next time you need to use me for something, you can cash in the favor."

"Hah," Quentin Blackwood scoffed. "And what could you possibly have that’s worth my using?"

"You never know. What if one day you want to make someone mad? You could use me as a shield, too."

"Mm," Quentin Blackwood replied faintly, tacitly consenting to being used by Ivy Sherwood.

Ivy Sherwood started walking back. "When... did you leave?"

Quentin Blackwood paused. "This morning."

"Oh, you must be busy. I’ll hang up then. Bye!"

Before Quentin Blackwood could say anything, Ivy Sherwood hung up.

For the next two days, Ivy Sherwood barely left her room. She had her meals delivered, not wanting to go out and run into any more trouble.

Naturally, she didn’t see Quentin Blackwood again either.

Quentin Blackwood hadn’t sent her any messages either. Between them, it was as if nothing had ever happened.

Thankfully, the week-long vacation she had originally booked was finally coming to an end.

Tomorrow, Ivy Sherwood could leave.

It wasn’t that she hadn’t had a good time. ’At least, I was pretty happy when I was with Quentin Blackwood.’

Ivy Sherwood finished packing her things and put them in her car. Just as she was about to drive off, she saw Silas Blackwood hurrying over.

"Ivy Sherwood, my car broke down. Give me a ride."

Silas Blackwood’s car had been broken since the night he arrived, and he hadn’t bothered to get it fixed over the past few days.

"We’re not going the same way." Ivy refused.

"What do you mean, ’not the same way’? I’m giving you a chance here. If I don’t leave, do you really think you’ll be able to?"

Ivy was also worried about what Caleb Blackwood might do next, so she tossed her car keys to Silas. "You drive."

"You want me to be your chauffeur? In your dreams!"

"If Young Master Blackwood isn’t willing, you’re more than welcome to not ride in my car."

It wasn’t like Silas wanted to ride with her, but he had been itching to get out of this godforsaken place for a while.

As he took the keys from her, his hand accidentally brushed against hers. The warmth sent a tingling, electric jolt through Silas. But when he looked at Ivy, she had already snatched her hand back, looking as if she’d felt nothing at all.

’I get it now,’ he thought. ’She must be gloating. She gave me the keys on purpose, just for a chance to touch my hand, didn’t she?’

Silas got in the driver’s seat, and Ivy went straight to the back.

Seeing this, Silas snapped, "Get in the front!"

’So she’s really treating me like a chauffeur.’

Ivy said, "Isn’t your passenger seat reserved for Anna Nash? What if your precious Anna gets upset that I sat there?"

At the mention of Anna Nash, Silas faltered for a moment. He realized it had been a long time since he’d thought of her.

’At least during this trip to the resort, I haven’t thought about Anna even once. Instead, my mind’s been filled with this damned Ivy Sherwood.’

Seeing Silas sitting motionless, Ivy tapped the back of his seat. "What are you spacing out for? Are you going to drive or not?"

’I must be crazy,’ Silas thought. He was surprised that her commanding tone didn’t make him angry.

As he drove, Silas asked, "Where have you been staying for the past few days?"

"None of your business."

"Ivy, my dad arranged this trip for us to get to know each other!" Silas reminded her.

Ivy didn’t even bother to look up. "I don’t think there’s any relationship for us to build."

"You!" Silas glared at her in the rearview mirror. ’Where does this woman get the nerve to talk to me like that?’

’Unbelievable!’

He couldn’t be bothered to talk to Ivy, and she certainly wasn’t going to start a conversation. The rest of the drive was especially quiet.

Of course, Silas had no intention of taking Ivy home. He drove straight to the Blackwood residence. Caleb Blackwood was waiting at the door, so Ivy had no choice but to get out and greet him.

"Uncle Blackwood."

Caleb Blackwood smiled warmly. "Ivy, did you and Silas have a good time these past few days?"

"It was great," Ivy said.

"That’s good to hear. Come on in, we’ll have lunch together in a bit," Caleb invited.

"Uncle Blackwood, I’m actually a bit tired and would like to go home and rest. I also have some urgent matters to attend to at the company this afternoon, so I’m afraid I can’t join you for lunch."

Silas, standing beside them, muttered, "You’ve been on vacation for days, and I did all the driving. What could you possibly be tired from?"

Caleb Blackwood didn’t press the issue, and Ivy quickly got in her car and drove away.

The moment they were inside, Caleb’s expression changed completely. "Silas."

"Dad, why are you so nice to that Ivy Sherwood?"

"Let me ask you. While you were at the resort, did you ever see Ivy Sherwood with Quentin Blackwood?"

"Uncle Quentin and Ivy?" Silas thought for a moment, then shook his head. "No."

"No?" Caleb felt something wasn’t right.

’The fact that he saw nothing makes it even more suspicious.’

"What’s wrong, Dad?"

"It’s nothing. Go on inside. Your mother missed you."

Silas then remembered something. "Dad, can I... can I go see Anna Nash?"

"I just want to see her for a moment. I promise I won’t do anything."

"No! Once you and Ivy Sherwood are married, I’ll let her go."

"Dad... I really just want to see her, that’s all! Dad!"

But no matter what Silas said, it was no use. Caleb was resolute; he would not let them meet.

...

Instead of going home, Ivy drove straight to her company.

Even though she’d been working for the past few days, working remotely wasn’t the same as being in the office.

First, she held a meeting to discuss the company’s upcoming plans with everyone in person. In the afternoon, she visited the various store locations, and in the evening, she went to check on their factory.

Nina Scott had said she was coming to see her, so Ivy told her to go to her place first and that she’d be back later.

By the time Ivy got home, it was already nine o’clock.

Nina Scott was at her house and had already cooked dinner.

"Ivy, you’re always so busy. You went straight to the office without even dropping off your things. You haven’t eaten, have you? Quick, go wash your hands and come eat," Nina said as she brought out the dishes.

Ivy walked over and gave Nina a hug. "My dear Nina, you’re the best. A true master of the house, from the parlor to the kitchen. What am I going to do when you get married?"

"Don’t you worry. Even if I get married, I won’t forget you. Now go wash your hands and try my cooking!"
