Chapter 113: Chapter 113: I Can’t Possibly Like You, Quentin Blackwood’s Blunt Rejection

Cheryl Yates was resentful. It wasn’t as if Ivy Sherwood was the only one who knew Quentin Blackwood. Silas Blackwood was here too, and Quentin was his uncle, wasn’t he?

With that in mind, Cheryl Yates pulled some strings to arrange a meeting with Silas Blackwood.

When he heard it was Cheryl Yates, Silas Blackwood naturally agreed to meet.

Cheryl Yates had no particular feelings for this playboy. Compared to Quentin Blackwood, he was a world apart.

"Did Miss Yates ask me out just to enjoy the night view together?" Silas Blackwood’s mood had been average, but it improved considerably at the sight of a beauty like Cheryl Yates.

After all, what man wouldn’t be in a good mood after being asked out by a beautiful woman?

"Young Master Blackwood, you’re willing to come out with me this late at night. Aren’t you afraid Miss Sherwood will get jealous?" Cheryl Yates said, deliberately joking.

Ivy Sherwood... Just mentioning the name made Silas Blackwood angry.

Cheryl Yates continued, "I just saw Miss Sherwood leave in a hurry. I wonder where she was going. How come you weren’t with her, Young Master Blackwood?"

"Who cares about her? Just thinking about her pisses me off. She’s constantly pestering me, insisting she’s in love with me and desperate to marry me. She’s like gum on my shoe—impossible to get rid of, just clingy and disgusting."

"I had no idea you disliked her so much, Young Master Blackwood," Cheryl Yates said. ’Though Ivy Sherwood is, indeed, a thoroughly detestable person.’

"Of course I do! Did you see where she went just now?" Silas Blackwood asked.

Cheryl Yates had no idea where Ivy Sherwood had gone. She pointed vaguely. "I think she went that way."

"That way?" Silas Blackwood frowned. ’Isn’t my uncle’s place over there? Could Ivy Sherwood be going to see him?’

An inexplicable discomfort stirred in Silas Blackwood’s heart. He immediately gave Ivy Sherwood a call.

Ivy Sherwood had gone to the restaurant. Luckily, she’d arrived just in time, and they were still serving food.

When she saw Silas Blackwood’s call, she hung up. He called again, and Ivy Sherwood hung up again.

Silas Blackwood’s face contorted with rage. Ivy Sherwood actually dared to ignore his calls. Did she think she could do whatever she wanted now that she had his uncle backing her?

Silas Blackwood recalled seeing no luggage in Ivy Sherwood’s car. Besides, he’d waited by it for so long, and she never showed up. It meant she wasn’t living out of her car at all.

So where could she be staying?

An answer began to form in Silas Blackwood’s mind. He’d been suspicious before... Quentin Blackwood and Ivy Sherwood...

"Miss Yates, something’s suddenly come up. I need to see my uncle. Please excuse me."

’If Ivy Sherwood really has gone to Quentin Blackwood, I can go and catch them red-handed!’

Hearing this, Cheryl Yates was inwardly delighted. She had been wondering how she could get to see Quentin Blackwood, and now the opportunity had fallen right into her lap.

"I’ll go with you!"

...

Inside the villa, Quentin Blackwood was on the phone. "This acquisition can only succeed. Scrutinize the contract from Country M; they like to play games with the fine print."

Just then, there was a knock on the villa’s main door, and a man’s voice called out, "Uncle, are you in there? I need to see you about something. It’s extremely urgent."

It was Silas Blackwood’s voice.

"Yes, that’s all." Quentin Blackwood hung up and walked toward the main entrance.

When Quentin Blackwood opened the door, he saw Silas Blackwood and Cheryl Yates standing at the entrance.

"Good evening, Uncle." Silas Blackwood’s eyes kept darting inside.

"Extremely urgent?" Quentin Blackwood had no intention of letting him in.

"Uncle, I was just passing by and it’s an emergency—I really have to use the restroom. Wouldn’t you call that extremely urgent?"

"Oh, and Miss Yates is looking for you. She has something to say to you. You two can have a nice chat!"

With that, Silas Blackwood pushed the door open and forced his way inside.

"President Blackwood, long time no see." In front of Quentin Blackwood, Cheryl Yates put on her usual well-mannered facade.

Quentin Blackwood merely gave Cheryl Yates a cold look, showing no intention of speaking.

"Quentin... can I call you that?" Cheryl Yates wanted to take their relationship to the next level, and the first step was a name.

"You may not. I don’t like people using my first name. It’s either President Blackwood or Mr. Blackwood."

Cheryl Yates was speechless.

Despite the rebuff, Cheryl Yates was still happy. Quentin Blackwood had said so much to her.

"President Blackwood, I heard the sunrise tomorrow morning is supposed to be especially beautiful. I was wondering if I could... ask you to watch it with me?" Cheryl Yates voiced her heart’s desire.

"I don’t have time." Quentin Blackwood gave her no opening whatsoever.

"Then could we have breakfast together tomorrow? Lunch or dinner would be fine too!" Cheryl Yates refused to give up on this hard-won opportunity to see Quentin Blackwood.

"Don’t waste your time on such pointless efforts. I don’t like watching sunrises, I don’t like eating with other people, and I certainly don’t like you. Understood?"

Quentin Blackwood’s words couldn’t have been more blunt. In an instant, Cheryl Yates’s face turned pale.

His words were too hurtful. Did he not like watching sunrises, or did he just not like watching them with her?

Did he not like eating with other people, or did he just not like eating with her?

"President Blackwood, I truly like you, from the very first moment I saw you. I have no other intentions, I..."

Quentin Blackwood cut her off coldly. "Many people like me. Am I supposed to accept them all? Even if there were a line, you wouldn’t be in it. If you’re simply in need of a man, Miss Yates, Silas Blackwood is a decent choice."

Cheryl Yates bit her lip tightly. She had, in effect, laid her pride at Quentin Blackwood’s feet, letting him trample all over it.

What did Quentin Blackwood take her, Cheryl Yates, for?

But even so, looking at this face, so exquisitely sculpted by the heavens, she felt that even being humiliated by him was worth it.

But what could she do? It was love at first sight, and she just couldn’t forget this man!

"President Blackwood, you’ve never even gotten to know me. How can you be so sure you wouldn’t like me? What if..."

"There is no ’what if’." Quentin Blackwood’s rejections were always clean and decisive, never beating around the bush.

Cheryl Yates’s eyes reddened. Just then, Silas Blackwood returned empty-handed after searching the entire villa, upstairs and down.

He hadn’t found Ivy Sherwood, not even a scrap of her clothing.

’That’s good. It means Ivy and my uncle aren’t living together. I was overthinking things.’

’He was right. How could his uncle, a man with such a fixation on cleanliness, possibly take in Ivy Sherwood? He didn’t know what he was thinking, suspecting there was something between those two.’

’Now it seems completely impossible!’

"Uncle, I’m done. Are you two finished talking?" Silas Blackwood sensed the atmosphere wasn’t quite right.

Silas Blackwood was still inside the room when Quentin Blackwood’s cold voice cut through the air. "Get out!"

"Huh?" Before Silas Blackwood could react, he felt a shove. He stumbled out, nearly falling to the ground.

Before he could say a word, the door was slammed shut with a BANG, a clear rejection of his visitors.

"What did you say to him?" Silas Blackwood asked.

Cheryl Yates certainly wasn’t going to tell anyone about their conversation. "Nothing. By the way, do you have your uncle’s phone number?"

"Of course I do. Why?" Quentin Blackwood was his uncle, after all. Of course he had his number.

"Could you give it to me? If you ever need my help with anything in the future, I’ll be sure to help you."

Cheryl Yates’s eyes glinted with meaning. She wasn’t going to give up.
