Chapter 110: Chapter 110: Don’t You Have a Clue?

Seth Scott’s gaze was fixed on Ivy Sherwood. He watched as she went and sat across from Quentin Blackwood.

He also saw her talking with Quentin Blackwood. Even though he could only see her profile, he could tell she was different from when she had been sitting with him.

When she was sitting with him, Ivy had seemed quite reserved. But in front of Quentin, she looked completely at ease.

Most people felt at least some pressure around Quentin Blackwood. The man’s gaze was inscrutable, and he exuded an almost overwhelming aura. It was the kind of presence that made you want to lower your head, let alone try to make conversation.

Seth Scott knew that even though he was considered exceptional in Lustre, he was nothing compared to Quentin Blackwood.

Every time he saw Quentin, he felt an immense pressure. He always addressed him respectfully as President Blackwood and didn’t even dare to raise his voice.

Yet Ivy, in Quentin’s presence, was as comfortable as if she were talking to a friend.

"Bro, why are you staring at her?"

Just then, Yara Scott spotted him too. "Isn’t that Quentin Blackwood? President Blackwood? He’s here?"

"I need to text Cheryl right away. I invited her earlier, but she didn’t want to come. If Cheryl knew President Blackwood was here, she would’ve come for sure."

With that, Yara quickly sent a message to Cheryl Yates.

It was no secret that Cheryl Yates had a crush on Quentin Blackwood and was trying to find out everything she could about him.

Although she and Cheryl Yates weren’t exactly close—Cheryl looked down on her for being the "fake heiress"—Yara still did her best to maintain the relationship.

’If the Scott Family ever stopped backing me, I’d have to rely on myself.’ Yara Scott knew this, so she was using the time she had to build her network.

After sending the message, she looked back at Ivy. "Bro, you see that, don’t you? Ivy is just trying to suck up to him."

"She must have seen Quentin Blackwood and gone over there on purpose. She’s a total snob. Even when she was talking to you, she was just trying to get on your good side."

Yara seized the opportunity to badmouth Ivy. She knew her brother had probably only shared a table with her out of necessity since she was Nina’s friend, but she didn’t want him getting too friendly with either Ivy or Nina.

’There is only one heiress in the Scott Family, and that has to be me!’

"She’s not like that," Seth said.

"Bro, how would you know? You’ve only met her a few times. And anyone who’s friends with Nina Scott can’t be a good person."

In short, Yara despised Ivy and Nina. ’They’re two of a kind!’

"Yara!" Seth snapped, his voice sharp.

"I’m not wrong! And what about what she said to me just now? I’m telling you, she’s not a good person," Yara rambled on.

Seth didn’t know when his sister had become like this.

Just then, he saw Ivy get up and leave the restaurant, following behind Quentin Blackwood. Seth immediately stood up and went after them.

"Bro, where are you going?" Yara scrambled to catch up.

...

Quentin Blackwood walked quickly after leaving the restaurant.

Ivy trailed behind him. "If you’re busy, you should go ahead."

Quentin paid her no mind. Just then, Seth Scott’s voice called out from behind them.

"Ivy."

Ivy stopped.

Up ahead, Quentin also stopped.

"How long are you staying? Do you have any plans?" Seth asked, walking up to Ivy.

Yara caught up just then. "Bro, what are you doing? What do her plans have to do with us?"

Seth said, "Since we ran into each other here, it must be fate. Why don’t you hang out with us?"

"Bro, our family makes a perfect group. Why would we bring her along?" Yara was clearly annoyed.

"’A perfect family group?’" Hearing this, Ivy’s gaze on Yara turned sharp.

"Then what does that make Nina? Is Nina not part of your family?"

’Nina would be heartbroken if she heard that.’

Besides, Nina was the true Scott family heiress. It was only because of an irresponsible hospital that the babies were switched at birth.

’How did it turn into Yara being the Scott family member, and Nina not?’

"It’s not like we didn’t invite her. She chose not to come," Yara said defensively.

Ivy knew better. Although they had technically invited Nina, the Scott family’s tone had made it clear they didn’t actually want their daughter to come.

Nina had picked up on it, which was why she’d chosen not to come.

"Besides, if Mom and Dad don’t like her, that’s her problem, isn’t it? Maybe she should do some self-reflection?"

"And another thing, are you part of our family? How we treat Nina is none of your business. Has the Scott family wronged her in any way?"

Nina was her best friend. Hearing Yara talk about her like that made Ivy furious.

"You’re the one who stole Nina’s life! Why don’t the Scotts like her? You take advantage of your closeness with Mr. and Mrs. Scott. Don’t you have any idea how many times you’ve framed Nina behind her back and how many bad things you’ve said about her?"

Yara’s biological family, the one that had raised Nina, was not well-off. They had once owned some businesses, but after going bankrupt, they were saddled with debt and had to move back to their rural hometown.

Living a hand-to-mouth existence, the couple could barely take care of Nina.

Later, when Nina was brought back to the Scotts, she had some "bad habits." She seemed afraid of Mr. and Mrs. Scott and lacked the table manners and etiquette of a wealthy family.

On top of that, Yara would deliberately accuse Nina of stealing her things, or even a classmate’s belongings, which would then conveniently be "found" in Nina’s schoolbag.

Or she would break something herself and frame Nina for it, only to then put on a pitiful display, saying, "Nina didn’t mean to, I’m okay."

Nina, of course, would never admit to things she hadn’t done. No matter how Mr. and Mrs. Scott pressured her, she refused to confess. She even lashed out, saying she hated them and that she didn’t have parents like them!

Mr. and Mrs. Scott had some patience at first, but they gradually came to see Nina as unpresentable and embarrassing—a stark contrast to the poised and graceful Yara.

Coupled with the fact that Nina wasn’t close to them, they felt she was like a wild animal that couldn’t be tamed. With Yara constantly stirring the pot, their dislike for Nina only grew.

Even after taking her back, they just sent Nina off to a boarding school, allowing her to come home only once a month.

Meanwhile, Yara was chauffeured to and from school every single day.

"Yara, what is she talking about?" Because Seth had been very busy growing up, he had little time for family matters and was unaware of many things.

He only knew what his parents had told him—that Nina had many "bad habits" and was "annoying"—but he never knew why.

From his own interactions with Nina, he thought his sister was actually a good person. He just never understood why his parents disliked her so much.

"Bro, don’t listen to her nonsense! I didn’t do anything! I don’t even know what she’s talking about!"
