Chapter 103: Chapter 103: How Could Uncle Possibly Be Interested in Ivy Sherwood?

Quentin Blackwood’s gaze landed on Silas Blackwood, and the air seemed to turn cold in an instant.

The thought of the woman’s face was an itch Silas Blackwood couldn’t scratch. He paid no mind to how cold Quentin Blackwood’s expression was and started talking as if to himself.

"Uncle, did you come alone? Where are you headed? Uncle, I’ll go with you."

Silas Blackwood was determined to stick with Quentin Blackwood.

As long as he was with him, he was sure he would see that woman.

Quentin Blackwood’s lips parted, and he uttered a single, cold word: "Scram."

Then, completely ignoring Silas Blackwood, Quentin Blackwood walked away. Silas hurried to catch up.

"Uncle, I came here with Ivy Sherwood, but I never expected that woman to be so cruel. She just ditched me and ran off. Next thing I know, I’m getting thrown out too because of something she did," Silas Blackwood complained, badmouthing Ivy.

He grew more agitated as he spoke. "That woman is full of tricks. I don’t know what kind of spell she used to bewitch my dad into forcing me to marry her. No man would ever want a woman like that, unless he was blind."

Quentin Blackwood stopped in his tracks. Silas Blackwood couldn’t help but stop as well.

Just as he was wondering why his uncle had stopped, he heard Quentin Blackwood ask, "With a mouth that foul, did you forget to brush your teeth?"

Silas Blackwood was speechless.

’He actually hadn’t brushed his teeth. He hadn’t even been able to get back into his room since being kicked out. All his belongings, including his phone, were still in there.’

"I’ll go brush in a minute. Uncle, have you had breakfast? Why don’t you call your date over? We could all eat together."

"Don’t worry, Uncle. I wouldn’t dare try anything, even if you gave me a hundred times the courage. It’s just that it’s mealtime, so we should eat."

Quentin Blackwood stared at Silas Blackwood for two seconds before taking out his phone to make a call.

"Come to the restaurant."

Silas Blackwood was thrilled. ’Is Uncle calling that woman over?’

He even dreamt of her face at night. It was the first time he had ever been so captivated by someone.

Compared to her, all the beauty in the world paled in comparison.

She was the most beautiful creature in existence, God’s most exquisite creation. Just the thought of her made Silas Blackwood’s blood run hot.

...

Ivy Sherwood was just about to head out when she got a call from Quentin Blackwood telling her to come to the restaurant.

’But hadn’t Quentin arranged for that food to be brought to the room? I’ve already eaten.’

Nevertheless, Ivy Sherwood went to the restaurant.

It wasn’t early anymore, so the restaurant was mostly empty, save for Quentin Blackwood and Silas Blackwood sitting at a table.

Ivy Sherwood was speechless.

’Seeing his face first thing in the morning has to be bad luck.’

Quentin Blackwood was enjoying his breakfast. He moved with an unhurried, methodical grace, every gesture exuding aristocratic elegance.

Silas Blackwood, on the other hand... was just so plain in comparison.

Ivy Sherwood walked over. The moment Silas Blackwood saw her, his expression twisted into one of utter disgust.

"What are you doing here? Did you know my uncle and I were eating here? Are you doing this on purpose?"

’Ivy must have followed me. She’s showing up in front of me and Uncle on purpose. Is she trying to snitch on me again?’

"Where did you sleep last night? In your car? What about your luggage, is that in the car, too?" Silas Blackwood demanded.

’Only if Ivy is as miserable as I am will I feel any better.’

But Ivy Sherwood didn’t hear a word Silas Blackwood said. Her gaze was fixed on Quentin Blackwood as he ate.

The sight of Quentin Blackwood now made Ivy Sherwood’s whole body go weak, her legs trembling.

Yesterday, Quentin Blackwood had become a wolf in sheep’s clothing, whispering all sorts of things in her ear. He especially kept reminding her that Silas Blackwood was her fiancé, that what they were doing was improper, that it was tantamount to stealing...

He’d even said that Silas might be watching from just outside, asking what she would do if he found out.

Even though she knew he was saying it all just to provoke her, her body had tensed completely at the time, enduring his power.

Even now, Ivy Sherwood could still remember the sound of his ragged breathing in her ear.

But now, with Silas Blackwood right here, it felt as if Quentin Blackwood’s words from yesterday were coming true.

"I’m talking to you! Why are you staring at my uncle?!" Silas Blackwood snapped, annoyed.

Ivy Sherwood finally pulled her gaze away. ’I can’t figure out what Quentin is thinking, so I might as well not try.’

"Didn’t Uncle call and ask me to come?"

Silas Blackwood saw no connection whatsoever between Ivy Sherwood and the woman he was smitten with; the thought didn’t even cross his mind.

"Uncle, why did you call Ivy over?"

Quentin Blackwood lifted his gaze, and Silas Blackwood immediately lost his self-righteous tone.

"Uncle, I meant for you to call your date over—the one I saw at your house a while back. Was she with you last night?" Silas Blackwood was certain Quentin had spent last night with that woman.

The person in question, Ivy Sherwood, stood to the side, her ears quietly turning red. She was speechless.

’Whether it was the woman Silas saw at the house or the one with Quentin last night, both were me.’

Quentin Blackwood wiped his mouth with a napkin. "Take a good look. This is your future wife."

Silas Blackwood shot Ivy Sherwood a glare. "Don’t be ridiculous. Who would marry this ugly hag?"

Quentin Blackwood had finished his meal. He stood up, and just before leaving, he said, "I’ve brought the person you asked for."

"Uncle! Uncle..." Silas Blackwood chased right after him. "Ivy isn’t the one I was talking about!"

Ivy Sherwood had a feeling that Quentin Blackwood was actually being quite open about it, not hiding anything. Silas was just too stupid to believe it.

’He’s never given me a proper look, so his mind wouldn’t even go there.’

’His uncle’s standards are much higher than his own. How could Quentin possibly be interested in someone he himself looks down on?’

’So even if he saw me and Quentin standing together with his own eyes, he’d just assume it was one of my schemes and that Quentin wouldn’t give me the time of day.’

Ivy Sherwood shook her head and walked out of the restaurant.

After arriving yesterday, she’d been taken straight to her room and had been working ever since, without a chance to take a good look at the resort.

The air at the resort was incredibly fresh. The weather was beautiful today, with blue skies and white clouds. Gone was the clamor of the city, leaving only a sense of peaceful beauty.

Behind the resort was a mountain, where you could go hiking for fun and exercise. At the summit stood a giant Ferris wheel.

In the other direction was the ocean and a vast beach, perfect for a stroll.

Ivy Sherwood chose to go to the beach. The sight of the endless sea meeting the blue sky was uniquely captivating.

’A walk might give me some inspiration to develop a new fragrance.’

Ivy Sherwood rarely had a moment to relax and enjoy the scenery like this. Just as she was about to start walking, a car suddenly gunned its engine and hurtled toward her. It was about to crash right into her.

At that speed, getting hit would, if not kill her, leave her half-dead.
