Chapter 1918: Chapter 34: Mother of the White Tide’s Revenge (3)_2
Kola frowned. As a Commander of the logistics training department, he rarely participated in frontline battles, but his knowledge was far beyond what ordinary civilians could comprehend. He clearly understood the means that even he couldn’t explain, which indicated that the opposing party’s technological prowess likely far exceeded his own, to the point where he couldn’t understand even a tiny bit of its principles.
A few of the trusted aides around him couldn’t help but roll their eyes upon hearing this.
Isn’t this obvious? To rescue us from under such terrifying existence, and using this rapid group teleport method, these alone make it evident that they have surpassed us, do you really need to say it?
Kola didn’t notice his subordinates’ expressions, but even if he had, he would have pretended not to see. He merely found a higher vantage point for himself, a place that was the wreckage of the escape pod that had crashed earlier and had been teleported along with them.
Although the escape pod was small compared to the mother ship, it was large enough for them as individuals. The thirty-meter-long hull was slanted into the ground, allowing him to see the surrounding area quite well.
"Hiss... What are those..."
Soon, Kola was stunned by the scene in front of him.
It was a metal, mechanical-style structure of buildings, heavy and rough, completely devoid of the technological feel Kola initially imagined. His astonishment was not at the grandeur of these buildings, but rather at their seemingly outdated appearance.
Kola had seen similar metal mechanical buildings before, during a visit to a low-level civilization’s home planet. Those cumbersome buildings not only lacked Shield Generators, but couldn’t even change shapes arbitrarily. When faced with threats, they could only passively endure attacks, which was purely a burden.
But now, Kola witnessed similar structures in a civilization he presumed to be advanced, which left him incredulous.
"No, these buildings must have some hidden secrets, perhaps there are complex structures inside that I’m unaware of..."
Kola comforted himself, as he couldn’t believe that a powerful civilization that could save him from that white monster would still use low-level backward techniques to build residences.
As he was imagining, the door of one building suddenly opened, and Kola could vaguely hear the sound of metal latches being pulled. Then three people dressed in white uniforms emerged.
"It’s them!"
Kola immediately recognized the attire of these people. Although he wasn’t certain if it was the same group, based on their clothing style alone, it was the same type as those who saved them earlier.
It was a red and white ensemble, predominantly white with red accents, and adorned with patterns resembling flames.
Kola observed the material of this clothing from afar. Although he couldn’t identify the specific material, its sheen suggested it was akin to space Combat Suits.
"That flame-like pattern seems to be their emblem."
Kola noticed similar patterns on the buildings, and a hypothesis formed in his mind.
This speculation happened in just a fleeting moment. When he regained his senses, the three people in the distance were still standing by the door, facing in their direction, seemingly discussing something.
"Gulp~"
Kola swallowed nervously. There was nothing he could do; currently, his and his companions’ lives were in the hands of the other party. He didn’t know how they would handle them next, whether they would fully assist them, leave them to fend for themselves, or directly kill them all...
He couldn’t be blamed for such conjectures. In his understanding, it’s difficult for civilizations across the universe to coexist peacefully. Unless they are free from material resource needs, they typically engage in battles upon encountering one another.
But before he could think further, one person among those three suddenly made a move.
He saw that person take off from the ground, rapidly flying towards Kola with extreme speed, arriving in front of him in the blink of an eye.
At this point, Kola was completely stunned, staring at the alien who had landed in front of him, at a similar height to himself, forgetting all the words he had prepared in his mind.
"Just... just flew over here...?"
Kola’s mouth was agape, and he was taken aback.
This person flew directly to him without any external aid. How was this possible? Was it perhaps the suit he was wearing?
But that couldn’t be it; this suit looked lightweight. If there were a flight device hidden within, that would be too far-fetched, wouldn’t it?
No matter how much he thought about it, Kola couldn’t comprehend it. He felt as though his worldview was collapsing over the past few days.
First, that terrifying white monster, resembling the legendary space beast that traverses the universe with its body alone, single-handedly exterminated their entire Kingdom.
Its magnetic field, which transformed life forms into similar creatures upon contact, and the black fog that could paralyze their technological equipment, with monsters able to freely Instant Teleport within it, was simply unheard of and astonishing!
And now, Kola witnessed a person flying using only their body. This scene made him associate it with the monster, feeling that there was perhaps some connection between them.
"Hello, Chris people."
Amidst his shock, the white-clad man before him suddenly spoke, in fluent Chris language. If it wasn’t for his appearance, just hearing the voice would make Kola believe he was conversing with an authentic Chris Noble, the accent from their home planet was immaculate.
"Allow me to introduce myself. I am Morris of the Wildfire Corps. This is our temporary encampment. Would you be interested in having a drink with me?"
The man seemed quite friendly, intending to invite Kola for a drink at the tavern upon first meeting.
Kola wasn’t sure how he ended up being taken to the tavern. As he experienced bodily flight, he also seized the chance to see an aerial view of this base’s main structure.
As he initially imagined, the place wasn’t large. The occupied area was about the same as his previous mother ship, which was quite small.
The number of those metal-structured buildings below didn’t exceed ten. From this, the number of personnel stationed here couldn’t be many.
Morris even began contemplating if these people intended to harm them, how they could resist and how to quickly and efficiently take over the opponent’s command center.
However, events didn’t unfold for the worst. The man appeared genuinely hospitable, taking him into one of the buildings and offering him a liquid drink called wine.
"Hiss~"
Kola took a sip from the cup, only to swiftly pull it away as if electrocuted.
"Heh, it seems you’re allergic to alcohol? That’s a pity; this fine wine is a treasured collection I brought from Guleng Star."
Morris laughed, downing the wine in his cup, his face exuding enjoyment.
"Alright, now that we’ve had our drink, it’s time for serious business."
Hearing this, Kola straightened his posture, thinking that what was destined to come had arrived, and the fate of him and the survivors depended on this moment.
"Don’t be nervous."
Morris patted his shoulder before continuing:
"I know you’re very confused and have a lot of questions for me, but none of that matters. Soon, I will show you a piece of footage, and you’ll understand everything that’s happening. But before that, I have a more important question for you."
He paused for a moment, and his expression suddenly turned serious.
"Do you seek revenge?"
